08/08/2026: A delightful place downtown. I asked if they had vegetarian options, and they were very accommodating in modifying some of the dishes on the menu, eliminating the meat. I had an excellent first course with creamed asparagus, caciocavallo cheese, and crusco peppers. Excellent value for money, even my omnivorous friends had a great time. Highly recommended.

In fact, it continues to improve year after year, confirming its reputation for excellence. Welcome and Atmosphere The restaurant's strength, besides the food, is the human factor. The owner is disarmingly courteous, always attentive and available. The service is impeccable: the waiters are not only extremely polite, but also possess a rare kindness that makes you feel immediately at ease. The atmosphere is serene, warm, and familiar: this is precisely what makes me prefer it to any other place. You can't go wrong here. Quality and Pizza The ingredients are fabulous, fresh, and of the highest quality. Speaking specifically about the pizza, the true definition is "phenomenal": perfect dough, light, digestible, and topped with ingredients that make a difference with every single bite. Prices Another reason to frequent this place is the absolutely competitive prices, decidedly lower than average and, above all, completely disproportionate (in a positive way!) to the extremely high quality of the food served. Final Verdict In my opinion, this is the perfect place. I wouldn't trade it for any other: the quality, courtesy, atmosphere, and affordability are top notch. Highly recommended!

04/05/2026: My husband, our two children, and I dined at this restaurant last night after a busy day spent walking among the Sassi of Matera. We were greeted by kind and attentive staff, with prompt service. The pizza was excellent, the fries were special, and the "sausage of the beggar" was delicious. My husband and I ordered it first, followed by a portion of Van Gogh bruschetta—exceptional! The owner, Bartolomeo, was exceptionally kind, making us feel at home and pampered. Before leaving, I confided in him about my passion for Vincent Van Gogh. He accompanied me into the dining room, which, surprisingly, was decorated with wonderful reproductions of Van Gogh's paintings. He proudly told me about them and showed me the wines, which bear artistic labels. What more can I say?! Between the deliciousness of the dishes, the beauty of the setting, and the owner's extraordinary kindness, it was an experience that left us with a wonderful feeling of well-being! If we ever return to Matera, we'll definitely eat here, with the pleasure of greeting Bartolomeo and savoring more of his delicacies!!!! Ps: fair prices and generous portions.

02/08/2026: There were three of us, and we ordered three pizzas: two with Lucanian sausage and one with Lucanian sausage, fried zucchini, and Leccino olives (Altra pizza). This review is based on real experience and seeks to highlight both the positive aspects and those that, in my opinion, deserve improvement. I'll start with the best aspect of the evening: the dough. It was decent, well-leavened, and cooked properly, with a well-developed crust and a pleasant texture. The addition of chia and poppy seeds adds a unique touch and a subtle aromatic note that distinguishes this pizza from many others. It was also cooked evenly, and the crust was nice and dry. Unfortunately, however, it's the quality of the ingredients that significantly changes the opinion. The Lucanian sausage had a strong and pleasant flavor, probably the pizza's best ingredient. The rest of the ingredients are a different story. The Leccino olives were the real disappointment of the evening: they were flavorless, of modest quality, and incapable of delivering the intense, slightly bitter flavor expected from this variety. Rather than enhancing the pizza, they ended up compromising its flavor balance. The tomato sauce also didn't convince me; it was slightly acidic and lacking in harmony, tending to overwhelm the other ingredients instead of binding them together. The mozzarella, moreover, seemed of rather ordinary quality, lacking flavor and a texture that didn't convey the sensation of a fresh or superior product. The fried zucchini, while an interesting idea, failed to deliver the added value expected from a gourmet pizza, also because the other ingredients weren't up to par. Ultimately, I got the feeling that this pizzeria has created a good dough, but it should invest much more in selecting the right ingredients. When you offer a pizza with ingredients like Lucanian sausage, customers expect high-quality, well-matched ingredients. In this case, unfortunately, the dough was the only truly convincing element, while the toppings and ingredients didn't live up to expectations. Three stars are deserved for the dough and baking, but overall it was a disappointment. With higher-quality ingredients, this pizza could take a significant step up.

16/06/2026: A very appealing restaurant with excellent food. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere very pleasant. Although it's located near a road, the traffic noise is barely noticeable. There's ample parking, the location is convenient, and the landscaping is lovely. As mentioned, the food was delicious. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. Overall, it's highly recommended. My only suggestion for improvement: there's no printed menu available on-site; it can only be accessed via the website, Google, or Google Maps. This means you have to access the menu on your mobile phone to view it. I've seen menus accessed via QR code before (which I personally don't find ideal either), but this was even more cumbersome. We found this less than ideal, especially since it also caused problems loading the page. Without a mobile phone, it would have been impossible to view the menu. Perhaps a chalkboard or a poster would be a good compromise, so that the menu isn't exclusively available through Google. Hence the one-star deduction. ... Otherwise, it's a really nice restaurant with very good food and wine. There's a great selection of dishes, so there's something for everyone.

10/08/2026: I went for dinner during my recent vacation in Matera: a restaurant serving excellent, traditional Lucanian cuisine with generous portions. The prices were very reasonable, generally lower than other restaurants in Matera. The staff was friendly and willing to explain and recommend dishes. Excellent. If there's a downside, it doesn't have an outdoor seating area, which can be pleasant in the summer.
