07/04/2026: We spent Easter Monday in Basilicata with friends and had lunch at this beautiful establishment. Excellent food, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and great for kids. A great spot for a lovely stroll around town. Very close to the co-cathedral. 🔝

17/03/2026: I highly recommend it. The owner and staff are as exquisite as the dishes, with experience and skill. We had a wonderful time. Excellent coffee (a rarity in Basilicata) is also available at the bar below, to the side of the restaurant entrance, also run by the aforementioned staff.

15/03/2026: We didn't know about this wonderful hotel, discovered by chance in a small village of about 4,000 inhabitants. It's far superior to other more renowned, expensive, and disappointing hotels in other more famous Italian cities. Giuseppe's genius has created something unique: rooms with spacious, clean, modern bathrooms, and every comfort possible! The fully functional bar offers the option of purchasing fine local wines and grappas! Excellent and varied breakfast. A beautiful restaurant with delicious dishes of all kinds (first courses, second courses, wines, typical local desserts) at a good quality/price ratio! Excellent pizza is also available, including take-out! Free and very convenient parking nearby! Above all, however, is the friendliness and kindness of Giuseppe and all the staff. What can I say: unique. Highly recommended...

15/03/2026: The place looks good. Renovated and well-maintained. In my opinion, the positives stop there: the food and experience weren't up to par. They fed us in 25 minutes, with the appetizer decidedly bland, one of the first courses too salty, and the second course too garlicky. There are definitely better options in Matera.

05/04/2026: We had dinner here on April 4th. The pizzas were delicious, well-cooked and made with a very digestible dough. We tried an off-menu red pizza with sausage, a white pizza with mortadella, mozzarella, and pistachio cream, and two calzones (delicious). Prices were reasonable, and the waitress was very friendly, even though she was very busy with takeout customers. The dining room could have been a little warmer, but overall, even though it's the only pizzeria in town, it's still very good and superior to many others in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It's best to be prepared with cash when paying.

01/04/2026: My wife and son and I were in the beautiful city of Matera last week, and right below our B&B, we decided, at the recommendation of many locals, to try this excellent restaurant. We started with the traditional peperoni cruschi, then moved on to the excellent orecchiette with mushrooms and sausage and a traditional soup. But the real masterpiece was the dish that gives the restaurant its name: the Pignata. A pan covered in oven-baked bread containing tender and delicious sheep cooked for 18 hours with potatoes and carrots. We finished with a delicious, crunchy and bitter dessert. 01/03/2026: I did a month traveling around Italy recently and eat in some wonderful restaurants from the North to South and East to West. This was up there with the best, fabulous food and a lovely atmosphere. Unique favours and a one I'll never forget.

08/02/2026: Came for a nice dinner at 8pm and we were met outside by a nice waiter with a wonderful mustache! He brought us inside and we were given a nice table for 2. Amazing cave-like atmosphere. We had 3 people taking care of us. A beautiful lady (could be owner) explained the wines and we order a nice dry red from her recommendation. Another waiter opened and poured our vino and it was perfect. Then our mustached friend took our order. Started with a nice buffalo margarita pizza - cooked to perfection and delicious! Main course - papparadelle (a bit more narrow than usual) ai fungi porcini- amazing and tasty!!! Also had chittarra ai ricci spaghetti (square) with fresh clams and a sauce that was out of this world!! Finished off with a nice pistachio gelato! All in all a first class A-rated experience!! Molte Bene!! Gratzie!!!!!
