31/07/2025: A little insider tip in this rather crowded city (July is the best time to visit). The Lugana was delicious, and every wine/cocktail comes with a small platter of cheese, sausage, etc. We really enjoyed sitting here in the evenings and have been there often.

04/07/2025: A beautiful calm space very elegantly decorated, we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of this lovely spot. I think we chose badly from a varied menu but overall the food was slightly disappointing and way over seasoned.

07/07/2025: A very pleasant time on the shores of Lake Maggiore on Pescatori Island. We ate good homemade food, fish from the lake and quality Italian dishes like risotto and arancini. The service was very friendly and it really is a good restaurant that is not a tourist trap. ♥️

07/07/2025: Definitely a 5 star experience nice and energetic staff, tasty food of great portion size, baguettes with dips as antipasti and after food some shots of limoncello. Nothing to complain about. Thank you

20/07/2025: I arrived at the restaurant following the wrong directions on Maps, but was saved by a very kind lady who helped me park and showed me the right way to return after dinner. The restaurant is located high up, with a breathtaking, unparalleled view. The food was excellent, as was the service.

17/07/2025: A very intimate and private restaurant in the center of Isola dei Pescatori, far from the hustle and bustle of boats ferrying tourists back and forth. Upon entry, we were greeted by the staff, especially Pina, the owner, with a big smile. The restaurant doesn't overlook the lake, but it does have a lovely internal courtyard that allows you to eat al fresco in a peaceful setting. As Pina says, "The lake is all around, here you eat," and indeed, the food here is truly delicious! Excellent food; I recommend the lake specialties, especially the pike-perch. Everything was wonderful; I'll definitely be back! 07/07/2025: Quick lunch at lago maggiore. We had the Puglian puccie, food was oka. Overall, a strange combination between name, drink and food menu. Service was correct and the atmosphere was okay.

04/07/2025: We ate in the garden at the back of the restaurant, very nice and quite "intimate". We had two pucce salentine, very good, quality ingredients, super french fries, good and original beers. Luca, the owner of the restaurant, very careful that every guest is satisfied and happy, does his role very well. They also make a house bitter, very good and delicate. We will definitely be back!

18/06/2025: Nous avons merveilleusement bien mangé au restaurant La Botte à Stresa. Tout était parfait du début à la fin. L’accueil a été chaleureux et sincère, l’ambiance à la fois élégante et détendue, et chaque plat était une véritable découverte de saveurs. La patronne est attentionnée et d’une gentillesse rare. On sent qu’elle met tout son cœur dans son établissement. Le service est fluide, et on se sent tout de suite comme à la maison. Bref, nous avons passé une superbe soirée, dans une ambiance conviviale et raffinée. Une très belle adresse à ne pas manquer si vous êtes de passage à Stresa. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter !

30/06/2025: Gourmet food warning! Sufficient portions but not abundant. Fabulous food. Spectacular Birramisu'. Always have to book. Better in the morning for dinner.

29/06/2025: It was recommended to us by the owner of the property where we were staying and we were very satisfied. Good value for money, varied menu, characteristic location, very beautiful in the center of Stresa in a beautiful little square.

19/06/2025: We got a table for two without a reservation on a Thursday evening (at 7 p.m.; the restaurant was full a little later). A very pleasant atmosphere, good service despite the busy times, and excellent food. Excellent, modern, upscale Mediterranean cuisine—we would happily eat there again next time we're in Stresa.

02/06/2025: This is clearly not a michelin table. For anyone used to french michelin table (I'm not talking about stars or anything) please don't be fulled. When a client is asking for a non alcoholic drink and the only thing you have to propose is sprits without proposing anything else when the client is not interested, this is not a michelin. The menu is made of paper sheets, decorated with oil drops 👌 this is not a michelin. The quality of the starters, well, there is no balance in the tastes, the salade is thrown in the plate the sauces are too acidic. For the plate, you don't put aluminium paper around a potato in a michelin table plate, nothing is neat, from the poor salad leaves that are lost in the plate, the stuffing is grossly cut, no balance in the tastes. This is really the level of an average braaserie you'll find in france, and that you'll forget about. Let's skip the dessert cause it is of the same level really. I was scared of another tourist trap, well I should have thought twice before going there.

29/07/2025: For dinner tonight, we had been recommended to try this restaurant and we did make reservations. We started with the mixed fried appetizer, which was very good, and the sauce was nice and spicy, which we absolutely loved. My husband had the veal chop with bone, which was fried, and he definitely liked it. It was accompanied by arugula, tomatoes, and fries. I had the lasagna, which was probably one of the not good lasagnas I’ve had in my life. Absolutely no flavor. The lasagna noodles were great, nice and tender and thin. But that was it. Could not detect any tomato sauce at all in it. But the worst part was it had no flavor. And we were practically ignored the whole night as far as service. Thinking that that’s not good!

29/07/2025: Vi prøvede flere gange at booke bord på restauranten - det var vanskeligt, men det lykkedes til sidst. Årsagen - rigtig mange gæster og det fandt vi ud af hvorfor ved vores besøg. Personalet var meget servicemindede, smilende og venlige. Vi fik bord indenfor men ville helst have ude - de sagde vent vi finder et. Vi troede ikke helt på det, men efter ca. 10 minutter kom de og sagde vores bord var klart! Super service. Vi bestilte pizza - 2 forskellige - og det er blandt de bedste pizzaer vi har fået. Stemningen og atmosfæren udenfor var helt i top. Desværre kunne vi ikke spise dessert, så det blev til kaffe og grappa. Vi kan varmt anbefale dette sted. Kommer vi til Stresa igen, skal vi helt klart på denne restaurant igen.

20/07/2025: We spent a Sunday lunch time here and felt as if we were in paradise! Ivan - the most gracious host. We had not booked properly by accident but, despite being fully booked, he accommodated us. The service was impeccable - Ivan was attentive, knowledgeable and funny without being overbearing. The atmosphere was dreamy. Relaxing music on a beautiful veranda with spectacular views of Lake Maggiore. The food really was so delicious- we had three courses on the a la carte menu. Each dish seemed well balanced and imaginative but at the same time like comforting home cooked Italian food! Several/maybe all the dishes were created with local produce. The perfect blend of creativity and comfort. A very local dish in this part of Italy is ‘Vitello tonnato’ (veal with a tuna sauce). Being British - this is a strange combination to us and so I was a little apprehensive to try it but as they say - ‘when in Rome!’. It was so delicious and according to Ivan it really is made the ‘proper’ way at Villa Pizzini’. Suffice to say - top restaurant and made for the most magical afternoon. Can’t wait to return one day. 19/07/2025: Ottima ed interessante esperienza in questo magnifico ristorante, circondato da boschi e pinete ad oltre 1200 mt di altezza.Piatti molto curati,saporiti e magistralmente spiegati dal titolare.Cantina più che soddisfacente.Prezzo un po'alto,ma ne vale la pena.

21/07/2025: The property is undoubtedly beautiful—historic charm, elegant grounds, and a premium location. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and amenities during our stay. Unfortunately, our experience was impacted by the non-functioning air conditioning in our room. Despite calling the reception multiple times and receiving repeated promises that someone would come to fix it, no one showed up and the issue was never resolved. For a hotel of this caliber, we expected much better responsiveness to guest concerns. We hope management addresses this, as everything else about the stay was memorable.

13/07/2025: My wife and I had been there years ago for lunch, and it was truly excellent. We stayed for one night in mid-June. It was an enchanting place, with a small balcony offering a truly unique view, but... we arrived in the morning to tour the islands, and the aloof receptionist made us leave our bags in a corner without a safe. When we returned in the afternoon, the room, with its enchanting view, had no TV. Never mind. We went out onto the balcony to enjoy the view and a cup of tea, as there was a kettle and a few teabags: a herbal tea, a green tea, and two coffee bags. Never mind, we'll make up for it at the restaurant. Splendid view, decent service. The menu was sparse. I ordered a trout and was brought four pieces of fish that looked raw to me, but the waitress couldn't tell me, nor was it listed on the menu. She took the plate away and confirmed it was raw. I opted for the mixed fried lake fish my wife had ordered, and two courses arrived, each consisting of two or three pieces of fish and lots of breaded vegetables. Let's draw a veil over dessert. Breakfast in the morning is miserable, but not the bill. It's a real crime that such an enchanting place is managed so superficially.
