01/06/2025: It's a restaurant where the food, atmosphere, and location are perfect. The polpette is delicious, the waitress Nelida is charming, a real treat, and we had a lovely time on the terrace. I would definitely return.

20/04/2025: Delicious pasta alla norma, with eggplants fired just seconds before serving! Generous glass of wine, one of the best we had in the Catania area! Coperto's price little high.
06/11/2024: Stopped for lunch, out of season, perfect spot. Glass of wine and generous servings. I had the Parma ham and buffalo mozzarella, followed by spaghetti vongole (clams). Great value, very tasty. Recommend.

07/05/2025: Compartimos una ensalada mixta, pasta alle vongole y un plato de pescado a la parrilla. Todos estaban bien cocinados y sabrosos. Hacemos una mención especial a las sardinas a la parrilla que no estaban secas y a la pasta vongole. Buen y rápido servicio. Situado en medio de la lonja de pescado tiene todos los pros y contras de la ubicación.

07/12/2024: Food was decent, however prices are quite high so you would expect at least a decent service and that was NOT the case.
One of the waiters (with mustache) was extremely rude and did not care about customer service at all, he did not introduce himself and was very evasive. Disappointing for such a lovely place. Atmosphere was ok but music played from the DJ was too loud making it almost annoying. Wouldn't go back.
The food was decent but the prices quite high so we would have expected at least decent service and this was NOT the case.
One of the waiters (with a moustache) was extremely rude and did not have the slightest interest in customer service, did not introduce himself (which could also be accepted) and was extremely evasive. All very unpleasant things considering the place.
Decent atmosphere but the music played by the DJ was a little too loud in my opinion, almost creating disturbance. I wouldn't go back.

02/06/2025: Deeply disappointed.
The food is tasteless, out of 10 mussels 5 are empty and 3 are closed... also the portions are really unsatisfactory.
The prices are exorbitant and not at all in relation to the quantity and quality of the food.
There would be a lot to complain about the service but I will limit myself to saying that the waiters are quite exhausted, stressed and without a minimum of empathy.
Too bad about the location because it is very nice.
14/05/2025: Modest lunch, a fish appetizer without infamy and without praise 50€, but it's fish and oh well, I was a little annoyed by the side dish, half a tomato and 4 salad leaves (counted) for 10€, house wine remained in the glass
It's a shame to write reviews like this, the service was good and attentive, but 100€ for two you should eat a little better, I don't recommend it.

29/04/2025: Camminando per le vie del centro di Catania, siamo stati attirati dalla location intima e tranquilla di questo locale situato in uno scorcio pittoresco a due passi dal Duomo. Pranzo a base di pesce tipico catanese con materia prima di qualità e porzioni generose. Nota di apprezzamento per lo staff, cordiale, disponibile, allegro e scherzoso senza però risultare invadente. Decisamente consigliato!
27/04/2025: Auf Empfehlung unseres einheimischen Vermieters, Santo, einem sehr netten Herrn, gingen wir in das Giglio Rosso. Es sieht von außen unscheinbar aus und der Chef ist ein selbstbewusster jedoch auch herzlicher Sizilianer. Wir ließen uns dann inspirieren von der Karte und seinen Empfehlungen und bestellten für uns 5 diverse Vorspeisen, Primi Piatti, Secondi Piatti und Nachtische. Und wirklich alles, was auf unseren Tisch kam, war ein ganz außerordentlicher Genuss. Sardellen, Schwertfisch, Garnelen, Tintenfisch, Rinderfilet, Pasta und Dolce. Zum Abschluss ein hausgemachter Marsalla. Alles vorzüglich um nicht sogar zu sagen einzigartig. Bei diesem Essen beschlossen wir, dass es eine weitere Reise wert ist wiederzukommen.
In der Nacht entfaltete die enge, dunkle und für Catania sehr typische Straße einen ganz besonderen Charme, wie man ihn nur hier erleben kann.
Ein schönes Erlebnis, das wir gerne in unserer Erinnerung behalten.
So geht Urlaub ☀️😄

07/03/2025: Se cercate un ristorante dove il mare e la buona cucina si fondono in un'esperienza indimenticabile, La Bettola dei Marinai è il posto giusto.
Il cibo è semplicemente strepitoso.
Il personale è impeccabile.
E poi ci sono i proprietari, semplicemente squisiti.
Se dovessi consigliare un ristorante di pesce, La Bettola dei Marinai sarebbe senza dubbio il numero 1.

20/04/2025: Today Easter Sunday I wanted to have dinner with a brioche ice cream and I have to say that the ice cream was so hard and inedible that the barmaid had to heat the ice cream spoon with the jet of the cappuccino machine.... Not to mention the very hard brioche... Truly a vomiting experience... I'm writing this only because of the crazy stomach ache that it caused me not even half an hour after I consumed it.
19/04/2025: Passed through a few days ago, very welcoming and calm place, lady at the counter and courteous and patient waitresses, the only problem is that on Google Maps there is confusion in understanding where exactly the place is located, otherwise an excellent place.

01/05/2025: Esperienza pessima, antipasto di mare discreto, due piatti di spaghetti alle vongole (40 euro) immangiabili, bisogna impegnarsi per cucinare un piatto di vongole così male, pasta cruda ed effetto colla, condimento vongole totalmente insapore, unica giustificazione era il primo maggio e c'era molta confusione, comunque, in base alla mia esperienza, da evitare. Se ti fai pagare 74,50 un antipasto, due spaghetti e due calilci di vino va bene, ma un livello minimo di decenza e di qualità la devi garantire, anche in giornate di molta affluenza.

Portate a dir poco vergognose
Antipasti:cozze, che di cozze avevano solo i gusci, gambero, uno,perfino sorgelato, insalata di polpo con retrogusto di vecchio e gommoso.

03/05/2025: This place has something incredible and wonderful to tell, it amazes everyone who comes inside.
You are greeted by the sweet smell of rotten fish, seasoned with a splash of unspecified excrement.
I'll start with a simple question. Is it a restaurant or a landfill? Perplexed we sit down. Accidentally during conversations with friends we lift the "wonderful" tablecloth. Under it you can find the entire menu of the day, and of the previous days I suppose.

Obviously, that's what we're here for!
Great, the fish stops there. To the choice.
We are served dishes that I would dare say are unpresentable! Many without even the smell of fish. Those who did, however, were even worse.
I'll just mention one dish that has left a lasting impression on my heart:
RISOTTO WITH SURIMI
PS. For those who don't know, surimi is a fish that lives in Chinese sewers, after being carefully bred it is mixed with Indo-Eastern excrement to create a show!
This was the "Fish" dinner
For lovers of strong emotions I highly recommend it! You will leave satisfied from all points of view.

The Owner IS VERY PROUD OF RISOTTO, a specialty that everyone requests 😂

18/05/2025: In sintesi, abbiamo dovuto aspettare circa 20 minuti prima di poter ordinare e solo dopo aver sollecitato . Avevamo chiesto due birre rosse medie e solo quasi a fine pasto e dopo aver sollecitato ci vengono portate due birre bionde dicendoci che la rossa era finita senza lasciarci spazio di scelta. Come dolce avevamo chiesto un semifreddo alle mandorle che compariva in menu’ ma ci viene detto che per averlo bisognava aspettare oltre 25 minuti e abbiamo optato per qualcos’altro.
La pizza buona così come il dolce ma un servizio veramente ma veramente scadente. NB: impeccabili sulla consegna del conto al tavolo.
05/05/2025: Quando per il massimo profitto, si prendono più coperti di quelli gestibili, si perde il cliente ed anche il nome vacilla. Pietanze non servite con il menù previsto, i moscardini rifritti erano troppo conti e quindi duri. La polpetta di neonato, troppo cotta fuori e cruda dentro. L'ultima portata, servita con ritardo di 40 minuti, ha infastidito tutti gli ospiti. Il sorbetto conclusivo, che dovrebbe avere una consistenza cremosa, è stato servito liquido. La cosa peggiore è stata la figuraccia fatta con gli ospiti d'oltralpe. "vi portiamo in un ristorante eccellente" > Il pozzo mai più".

30/08/2024: I was intrigued by the location which was wonderful. Unfortunately I took a grilled swordfish which didn't make any sense, very grilled on one side and seared on the other dry, dry, all with a side of mixed salad. Finally, they are so attentive to their customers that even though we are in Catania and they don't know how to grill a swordfish, having only one table in the room, they made me pay 5 euros for the side dish and 2 forkfuls of salad. I forgot their slogan and life is too good to eat badly.
Catering is a serious thing,
