They even offered a discount on the menu because I didn't order the first course, so the manager was also honest. A place I'll definitely return to. I recommend it.

08/02/2026: I accidentally booked a table at this unfamiliar restaurant, trusting my instincts. I discovered that under the previous owner, the restaurant had a Michelin star. Now run by three young men, it has certainly lost nothing: service, cuisine, presentation, ambiance, and menu are absolutely up to the level of a Michelin star. The prices, however, are not, and are at a normal level. I really appreciated the presentation and description of the dishes I ordered; this only happens in high-end establishments. So, in my opinion, the value for money isn't excellent, but it's amazing. It will definitely be a point of reference to consider when in the area.

07/03/2026: Ristorante Giovanni is one of those places in Turin that you never forget. You go there for good food, of course, but you return for something more: genuine care, attention to the raw ingredients, and cuisine that has personality without sacrificing restraint. The fried foods are simply extraordinary: light, perfect, never heavy. Mushrooms, artichokes, asparagus: in every season, they find a way to make themselves memorable. For me, they truly are the best. The service is always impeccable, discreet, never intrusive. And the atmosphere has a rare quality: it's quiet, discreet, and welcoming. Not noisy, not garish. A place where you eat well and still enjoy conversation, almost feeling at home. For me, it's become a favorite restaurant. And anyone passing through Turin should try it at least once. 19/11/2025: Upon arriving at 9pm, we were left waiting at reception while the staff member finished a personal conversation. This immediately set the wrong tone. When we finally asked about an evening meal, we were told there was “no availability” because other guests had chosen to dine in. No effort was made to offer an alternative, no solutions were suggested, and we were simply directed to a local pizzeria. This level of indifference is unacceptable. A 4-star hotel should never leave guests without any dining options or basic consideration. Even a simple gesture—such as offering something light at the bar—would have demonstrated care and professionalism. We escalated the issue the following morning, yet the response from another colleague only reinforced the same dismissive attitude. Overall, the service we received was not only disappointing but far below what any guest should expect from a hotel of this rating, this simply ruined our short weekend break. "Date stayed Friday 14th for two nights"

01/02/2026: If you're driving near Fornovo Val di Taro, leave the highway and head to Osteria Le Vigne (Varano de' Melegari) and treat yourself to a truly excellent lunch or dinner. The atmosphere, food, and service are all top-notch, making you wonder why the service can't be this good everywhere. In any case, it's a very unique place that offers traditional Parmesan dishes with a touch of originality. Excellent ingredients expertly prepared. A carefully crafted food and wine list. And to top it all off, an absolutely reasonable bill. Well done. Don't change!! 👍

31/10/2025: If you want to eat really well without spending too much, this is the place! We went with the intention of trying both the fish and the pizza, and we were completely satisfied. We ordered: 1 small beer, 3 Cokes, 3 waters, 4 specialty pizzas, 1 portion of chiacchiere, 1 fritto misto (delicious!), and 2 Nutella chiacchiere—all for only €127. The pizza, cooked in a wood-fired oven, was simply exceptional: perfect dough and quality ingredients. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, without too much pretension, and the staff was friendly and helpful. In summary: excellent value, authentic cuisine, and a pleasant atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

26/10/2025: The restaurant is a large room with a wooden ceiling and an exposed wood-fired oven, behind a long counter. The place is well-kept and modern. The bathrooms, however, are small. Because it's a single room, the noise from people is deafening, not suitable for intimate or "quiet" dinners. The food is excellent. Fantastic pizza and very good desserts. The quality and price are extremely reasonable; they are truly honest.

25/01/2026: "A perfect place to escape the rain." This is what I thought when a few days ago, on a gloomy day, I entered Franz's with my wife, my son, and our respective parents. The consistently warm welcome from the dining room staff is something that puts you at ease; we've been to many restaurants, and that's not a given. Then, even the first bite of what you taste is enough to "forget about the rain" and smile. I don't have photos to show in this review, because photographing the dishes is depriving yourself of the experience; those dishes that are prepared with care, served with grace, and enjoyed with gratitude. It wasn't the first time we've been to Franz's; in fact, we're now regulars at this wonderful place. Why leave a review now, you might ask? Well, because every time feels like the first, yet it's better than the last. So I couldn't help but write this thought. Do yourself a favor: go to Franz's! I borrow a few words from Cesare Pavese: "A town means not being alone, knowing that in the people, in the plants, in the land there is something of yours, that even when you're not there, it remains waiting for you." That town is Formigliana. And it is so because Franz is there.

The staff is attentive to every diner's need, and the owner is extremely knowledgeable in recommending dishes and wine pairings. If one or more of your guests want meat, just let them know a few days in advance and the owner will make sure it's catered to! What can I say? Truly exceptional! The prices are in line with high expectations, not at all excessive. Compliments to the entire staff!

02/02/2026: The restaurant is surrounded by somewhat dilapidated buildings and trattoria-like signs that make you wonder if you're in the right place. Fortunately, once you're inside and savor their dishes, any doubts vanish, leaving room for the satisfaction of savoring high-quality cuisine. Of the many Michelin-starred restaurants I've visited in Piedmont, this is certainly one of the best. Each dish was refined and well-crafted, never lacking in nonsense or neglecting flavors and textures. The service was good but aseptic (just a quick briefing about the dish and off we went), a bit slow (we sat down at 1:00 PM, got up after 4:00 PM), and even the chef was glimpsed in the dining room for just 30 seconds to greet someone I believe was a regular. So perhaps I missed the guidance during the tasting experience, but that's a very subjective factor. The price was truly excellent. Ultimately, this is a restaurant you absolutely must try. Highly recommended.
