07/04/2025: Delicious food: sandwiches with incredible combinations and as a starter, as a house gift, pizza balls flavored with fried seaweed and paprika. The extremely friendly and helpful manager served us with diligence and kindness. The atmosphere, even if simple and refined, still does not do justice to the food which, taking nothing away from street food, has a great refinement.

05/05/2025: Excellent welcome in an elegant little place. Sober and clean, I went for a working lunch. I ate very well in normal restaurant times but not for business lunches, luckily I wasn't in a hurry. I definitely recommend I will have the opportunity to go and taste the dishes in the evening and understand the type of service, given that I had a good time at midday in the evening I certainly expect something more🙏

02/04/2025: Ottima cucina, molto ricercata come dico nel titolo. L'ambiente e piccolo ma arredato con gusto e molto intimo. Spiegare nel dettaglio le pietanze è un'impresa per me impossibile perché in questo ristorante non ho trovato nessun piatto uguale a qualsiasi altra cosa abbia mai mangiato da altre parti, sia per quanto riguarda il gusto che per la presentazione. Carrellata di antipasti, in realtà entree di benvenuto, di vera creazione gastronomica, molto delicati e gustosi, delle vere e proprie esplosione di sapori. Il resto non ve lo dico perché non renderei abbastanza giustizia ai piatti che ho gustato e vi priverei della sorpresa e delle spiegazioni del gentilissimo e simpaticissimo Maître. L'unica altra cosa che posso dire è che non è un locale economico, la qualità si paga e qui si paga davvero, d'altronde per ciò che offrono mi pare anche giusto.

22/05/2025: We stayed at Villa Baroni for three nights in early May for our wedding, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The location by Lake Varese is sublime — with beautiful views and a well-kept, presentable hotel both inside and out. We had both breakfast and dinner during our stay. The food was of very good quality with well-prepared dishes, though dinner prices felt slightly high considering the setting. Still, it was convenient and enjoyable, especially when with family or for a special event. We were given three rooms for our families. As bride and groom, we stayed in the largest room (EUR 200/night), which was spacious, vintage in style, and had two large windows. We appreciated the in-room tea and coffee maker. The smaller rooms with direct lake views were charming and suitable for a weekend getaway. Unfortunately, certain behaviours affected our stay. A lady (possibly the owner?) let her dog roam freely throughout the hotel and restaurant — at one point even jumping on a dining table. Her friends also brought dogs to dinner, which barked frequently. This was inappropriate and unhygienic for guests, especially since booking platforms (Booking.com, Trivago, BringFido) state that pets aren’t allowed. The inconsistency in policy was disappointing. Rooms are on the first floor, accessible via a staircase next to reception. There’s a large fridge at the bottom for water bottles, but no door separates the floors. As a result, we could clearly hear guests leaving, bottles being handled, and bins being used between 11 p.m. and midnight. Most disruptive was the dog barking loudly for 15+ minutes around midnight, waking my toddler. Instead of moving the dog to a quiet room, the lady shouted at it — making things worse. I love dogs, but there are limits in shared spaces. The Wi-Fi was another issue — weak and unreliable in the rooms, only stable on the ground floor. A more consistent connection would be expected at this level. Our room, while not bad, could use an update. The red-brown carpet is dated and would be better replaced with wood flooring. There was visible mould between the wardrobe and window wall — clearly cleaned periodically, but it needs deeper treatment, which is understandable in lake settings. Some furnishings felt mismatched or flimsy: a beige leather sofa clashed with the vintage decor, a round table with a heavy oriental lamp was unstable, the desk chair was wobbly, the headboard outdated, and the shower door didn’t close properly. The wall-mounted hairdryer was very noisy, and the small TV high on the wall looked out of scale. Several extension cords and loose sockets gave a cluttered and unsafe impression. On a positive note, Alina at reception was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the cleaning lady was thoughtful and made sure our room was ready for the bridal party. In summary, Villa Baroni has great potential, thanks to its stunning location and kind staff. However, pet management, noise control, Wi-Fi, and room maintenance need improvement to match the villa’s charm.

16/05/2025: Excellent experience in every way! La Réclame is a real gem in Sesto Calende. An elegant and well-kept place, perfect for a special evening or a relaxed dinner. The cuisine is refined but accessible: delicious dishes, well presented and with high quality ingredients. The wine selection is also excellent. The staff is kind, professional and very attentive - they make you feel truly pampered. The location is also beautiful, with a view of the square, quiet and suggestive. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

22/05/2025: Great rooms, great service, very good breakfast. Bathroom is big, clean, new. Bed is big and very comfortable. We also booked dinner at the hotel restaurant. Dinner was perfect.

18/05/2025: Gran restaurante lleno de gente local que nos recogió en nuestro hotel en el aeropuerto de Milán (Sheraton) y luego nos dejó de nuevo, ¡qué servicio! Fue aproximadamente un paseo de 10 minutos, ya que el restaurante está en un pueblo lleno de carácter con calles estrechas. Una amplia gama de auténtica y deliciosa comida y bebidas italianas, todo a precios razonables. La pizza era excelente también. El servicio era amable y eficiente a pesar del número de clientes en un sábado por la noche. Pregunte a su hotel para hacer una reserva y pedir el servicio de transporte.

18/05/2025: The restaurant has a luxurious atmosphere, the service is also in line with this. The four of us went here to eat and chose the pizzas. In addition, the menu also consists of meat options, pastas and salads. The view is beautiful, from most tables you can look out over the entire lake. The parking of the restaurant is more than sufficient.

14/05/2025: Definitely avoid for lunch. I went to this restaurant for lunch with a friend during the week and we left really disappointed. We took the lunch menu with a first course and side dish (with water and a glass of wine included) of your choice. The spaghetti was pre-cooked and reheated on the spot, the shelled clams were clearly frozen (but not marked with an asterisk on the menu). It looked like spaghetti with oil... tasteless. I can understand that you want to offer good-priced lunch menus to attract workers, but I suggest you review your proposals: instead of offering spaghetti with frozen clams for €12 (we know that fresh clams are expensive), instead make simple and economical dishes that will help you cover your management costs but, at the same time, quality dishes. Even a pasta with fresh cherry tomatoes can be good if made with quality raw materials. As a side dish we had chosen grilled aubergines. Two (I repeat, two in number) round, small and thin slices of aubergines arrived... a very sad dish. Really disappointing. We left the restaurant really disappointed. If I had known that the lunch menu was so poor and of poor quality, I would have taken an à la carte dish with a couple of euros more on the bill. Rather than leaving people disappointed, you do not offer certain options to customers at all. You are not a diner but, on the contrary, you want to give an image of a chic and quality restaurant... and then you fall on a pre-cooked spaghetti that was sticking together (I had to detach it with the knife at a certain point...). Really a shame. But what I was most sorry about this episode is that the managers think that customers are stupid and do not notice the poor quality, frozen and pre-cooked food. Bad bad for lunch. Avoid it or choose à la carte dishes.

11/05/2025: Mother's Day... My mother and I, two people for lunch, receipt for 4 place settings. The couscous was terrible..., the fried food and appetizer were excellent. Too bad the long wait!

13/04/2025: Marido y yo cenamos en marzo de 2024. Tuvimos una estancia de una noche en el Holiday Inn Express para tomar un vuelo temprano por la mañana a Londres a la mañana siguiente. Nuestras preocupaciones sobre la cena se pusieron fin ya que el hotel recomendó este restaurante a 10 minutos a pie. Llegamos temprano ya que no teníamos una reserva, y afortunadamente así como el restaurante se llenó rápidamente. No habíamos tenido grandes expectativas aparte de un lugar donde pudiéramos conseguir algo de comida. La comida aquí, sin embargo, era sorprendentemente bueno, y Samarcanda resultó ser uno de los mejores restaurantes que habíamos cenado en Milán.

08/04/2025: Revelation. Here it is 5 stars + 5 extra stars. Great food, amazing service. I don't know Italian, they don't speak Polish, we don't speak English - which doesn't prevent us from understanding each other. And lots of fun. I absolutely recommend it.

06/04/2025: A very unassuming restaurant with great food and amazing service. All the dishes we ordered, whether pizza or pasta, were delicious, but the desserts beat everything. Meringue with salted caramel and pistachio tiramisu are heavenly - we even took extra portions :) The service is always kind and friendly, despite the language barrier, I rate the service and food 10/5 stars. A place definitely worth visiting.

29/04/2025: Di recente ,nel locale già conosciuto, ho festeggiato con mia moglie il Nostro anniversario di nozze. Gustosissimi il polipo scottato in padella e i gnocchetti allo zafferano oltre alle eccellenti grigliate di pesce. Proprietari gentili e simpatici,tempi di attesa corti e prezzi giusti. Ristorante che raccomando.
