27/08/2025: I've rarely been so disappointed by a renowned fish restaurant. Even as a teenager, our father took us to Vitello d'Oro for special occasions, and whenever I was in Udine and had time, I visited this restaurant, remembering the wonderful meals with my parents and the excellent cuisine. Today, the restaurant is an example of what happens when you betray tradition and fail to embrace modernization—such as fusion cuisine. It becomes nothing more than an expensive fish restaurant, living off its former name and failing to live up to the standards of the past or present. And there's not even a hint of fine cuisine... My companion and I ate the following dishes: - "Datemi una sarda!" - "Ravioli, capra, bottarga e limone" and the house specialty as a Piatto iconico – the signature dish - "Risotto di Scampi & Scampi" Even before the first course, we were served olive oil butter with herbs on a river stone, which unfortunately only tasted of stone, not olive oil with herbs. The sardine pieces, in a cold cucumber soup (?), were still somewhat edible, albeit lacking the authentic flavor, but the smoky smell allowed us to eat them without tasting the sardines. The nine tiny ravioli, however, which we had been particularly looking forward to because of their goat cheese filling, were a real disappointment. Instead of the flavor of cheese wrapped in the delicate pasta of a ravioli, all we tasted was a watery, fishy mass, whose pungent fishy smell made us nauseous. We love eating fish and highly value fish eggs, but what we smelled was worse than a dirty Adriatic harbor after a hot summer day. Incredibly bad! We sent the dish back. Hoping that the house specialty would still taste good, we weren't too disappointed (the bread in the basket tasted good, and that made the wait more bearable), but then came pure disappointment: the worst risotto we've ever eaten. Not only was the rice undercooked—and I'm not talking about "al dente!" here, because cooking "al dente" is a prerequisite for a good risotto (you can see from the photo that the rice isn't al dente, but still raw!). The risotto from the once-good restaurant "Vitello d'Oro" was raw, watery, and not creamy, with two or three tiny pieces of scampi and three raw pieces of scampi placed on top, garnished with a thick line of pepper. The amount of risotto would have filled maybe 2-3 tablespoons, and the scampi were cut improperly and not removed properly. The pepper line consisted of pepper and herbs – ruining what little flavor the risotto had! We couldn't eat the risotto either, so we asked for the bill and left the restaurant without dessert. €165.00 without having really eaten and without knowing what we were actually being served! I must add that the service was very attentive, but almost irritating and annoying. There's nothing here that reminds you of Italian lightness, joie de vivre, and epicurean desires. It's an overpriced restaurant; after that, even a street pizzeria would be a pleasant and welcome change. For me, Vitello d'Oro is history – literally.

19/08/2025: I went there for the first time, the food was excellent, and they had AMAZING cappelunghe off the menu. The rest was excellent, with a great selection of wines. Highly recommended.

15/08/2025: Excellent seafood restaurant. The food is excellent. Generous portions. The staff will let you know if the fish is fresh; otherwise, they opt for frozen fish cooked so well it's hard to tell the difference. Very friendly staff. I recommend it and will be back in September.

07/09/2025: We stopped by for Sunday lunch. The location is truly beautiful. The food and service are average. Nothing special. From a place where there's reserved parking for Rolls Royces and bottles costing hundreds of euros, I expect impeccable service and a different image.... Waiters in t-shirts are simply unheard of, and I didn't find the excellence of the food that's so much touted. The place is overrated, but if that's how the customers like it, good for them.

The three brothers who have run this place for years do so with the common sense of a family man: the customer's needs come first. 15/07/2025: Abbiamo trovato questo ristorante per caso navigando con Google map. È stata una piacevolissima sorpresa. Il personale molto gentile e competente, la location accogliente e piacevole, Ci hanno dato un tavolo da 4 (siamo due coppie di mezza età) affacciato sulla meravigliosa darsena. Ottima la qualità del cibo, super apprezzate le bollicine servite appena seduti (senza doverle chiedere), inoltre la passione per il lavoro dimostrato da colui che ci ha consigliato per il vino e da parte dalla titolare è stata ammirevole. Super consigliato!

23/08/2025: A few kilometers from the San Giorgio di Nogaro highway exit is a fantastic trattoria. Although the name suggests trattoria, it feels more like a restaurant. The interior is beautiful and well-appointed. The meals are delicious. We had an appetizer, a first course, and a dessert. Everything was truly delicious. If you're in the area, I recommend stopping by. The quality/price ratio is good. Obviously, the prices are higher if you order fish. The staff is friendly and pays close attention to their customers; a positive note is that the food and beverage servers have excellent experience with wine, so they can recommend them well. Although the trattoria has plenty of seating, I recommend making a reservation.

13/07/2025: This place was a pleasant discovery. We were really satisfied with two dinners there. We ate outside and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The staff was really professional and kind. The menu had a wide selection and even the off-menu items were very inviting. It's useless to recommend it because everything we tried was delicious. The desserts were a real treat. The tiramisu was amazing. We can't wait to stop by again to try new dishes!

08/07/2025: This place is a surefire way to enjoy good food. A warm and friendly welcome will immediately put you at ease. The restaurant offers a wide selection of appetizers, first courses, and fish-based main courses, with some pastas made in-house. During the summer, you can dine outdoors under the shade of plants and umbrellas. Reservations are recommended. A must-try.

28/08/2025: The food is mediocre for an Italian restaurant. You can get better pizzas on the shopping street. Service could be improved. The atmosphere and Pulcinella are definitely better restaurants in Lignano.

28/08/2025: In terms of quality and price, nothing to say, the quality of the dishes is very high and the services are very good. The only problem is that the servers are very distant, do not give advice or interest to the customers, they do not even talk to them, they are very fast and very frenetic in their service, it is obvious that they want to do a little volume instead of catering service. It is a shame because for the rest the restaurant is absolutely top notch and perfect for any circumstance.

23/08/2025: If you're in Lignano and want to enjoy traditional dishes revisited with care and a twist, you have to come here. It's a great place to be, and above all, the food is delicious! Young and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended?

For us, this is a restaurant close to our hearts, a place we've been happy to return to for years. All the friends we've brought have raved about it. A guarantee!

10/08/2025: Excellent food at reasonable prices and with excellent service. The restaurant is meticulously maintained, with beautifully presented tables. The outdoor area is very pleasant. It's worth traveling a few kilometers from Lignano to visit this peaceful oasis.
