27/07/2026: DEAR! I was there with three friends less than a month ago. One of the two pinsa we ordered was supposed to have fried eggplant, but if there was half a slice of eggplant chopped into pieces, it was too much! The other one also had a paltry topping. We pointed this out to the cashier, who obviously questioned what we reported. They added a €5 surcharge to the gluten-free pizza (with a ready-made crust)!! I basically paid €17 for a pizza that cost €12! Shameful!! We mentioned this to the cashier, who explained that this is how much they charge and that they charge the customer what they pay. So I ask myself: if the pizza cost €12 and the gluten-free crust costs €5, did I pay €12 for a three-ingredient topping?? Why then wasn't the dough surcharge deducted from the price of the regular pizza? Ridiculous! A basic pizza and a bottle of water cost €22.50. In any case, the pizza wasn't that great, and the prices were generally high, too. I definitely won't be returning.

12/07/2026: The staff were very welcoming, helpful, and kind. The food was very tasty and tender, and the fish was truly exceptional. We had a sea bass fillet and a fillet baked in foil, which were a sight to behold, a truly wonderful experience.

As a business owner, I know that time is the most precious resource, and finding yourself faced with a closed shutter on a Saturday night—despite Google listing your business as open—is simply unacceptable. If a business can't even manage basic online communication, it speaks volumes about the care they put into everything else. It's a real shame, but the lack of respect for other people's time is a definite no-no for me.

08/07/2026: A very well-kept and welcoming venue, with both indoor and outdoor seating and a large adjacent lawn. Excellent service, a wide selection of tasty and well-presented dishes, and decent portions. Fair prices.

27/06/2026: We ordered two Pizzas, I am dairy free so I ordered the Hawaiian, but there was no tomato sauce on that particular pizza, so the waiter suggested it. I was delighted. Obviously I can't have cheese so that wasn't on the pizza. It took a while for them to come out considering we were the first in the restaurant but it looked as if the locals were served before us. The pizza was poor, considering we were in Italy. When it came to paying I was charged for the tomato sauce, which I thought was cheeky, I didn't have cheese so it was balanced out !! Or so I thought 🤔

07/08/2026: Nice place, pergola outside Cute inside. Small but spacious enough to enjoy excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely return.

05/08/2026: An old-fashioned trattoria, rustic and spartan but with a homey feel. Mr. Franco welcomed us with a cold appetizer and a generous helping of seafood spaghetti, followed by kipferl to finish. The food is traditional, generously prepared by the owner, and very good. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming. If you're looking for a fancy, cloth-tablecloth restaurant, this isn't for you. We'll definitely be back!🩷

01/05/2026: A nice, well-kept restaurant in the heart of Cividale. We happened to stumble upon it just as the kitchen was closing (2 PM), but they let us in anyway. The food was really good, plentiful, and made with quality ingredients. Mixed grilled fish and tagliolini paglia e fieno with San Daniele. The only downside was that one waiter made me feel embarrassed in front of some foreign guests I'd brought there to eat. As soon as he'd seated us, he came back to the counter yelling, "These guys are Spanish..." Later in the meal, after checking to see if he could start clearing the table, I sensed as he was talking about us still being there and not having finished. Finally, when it was time to order two coffees and a herbal tea, when the waitress brought the order back to the counter, the same male voice started mocking the fact that I'd asked for herbal tea and, amidst hearty laughter, greeted his colleagues by saying, "Hi, and enjoy the herbal tea!" Obviously, no offense intended, but I must say that going out to a restaurant isn't a vital need, but rather a pleasure one desires to experience, in terms of both service and food. In my case, I was showing my hometown to foreigners who speak perfect Italian. Absolutely nothing to say about the professionalism of the young waitress and the lady who I presume was the owner. I understand that working with the public isn't easy, but I don't think you should be treated like an idiot on top of paying.

27/04/2026: High prices for the quality of the food. There's no need to make spectacular dishes; I'd like to go home with the memory of good flavor. Spaghetti with clams is the ABCs of a seafood restaurant. And they don't know how to make it. Flavorless, bland.

19/05/2026: The pizzas are excellent, and the wine by the glass is truly delicious. The staff is attentive, friendly, helpful, and kind. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming. The prices are very fair. I'll definitely be back to try the fish.

The venue is welcoming, elegant, and suitable for both a relaxed lunch and a special dinner, creating the perfect atmosphere for important occasions. The food was excellent: each course was prepared with great care, using quality ingredients and truly authentic flavors. The menu is varied and caters to every need, offering excellent meat and fish options, and even a truly delicious pizza. All my guests thoroughly enjoyed every dish served, complimenting both the quality and presentation. A key added value was undoubtedly the staff: they were extremely kind, professional, and attentive to every need, contributing to the impeccable service. The owners deserve special mention for their great courtesy, helpfulness, and customer service: they made us feel warmly welcomed and cared for in every detail. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality, professionalism, and a pleasant atmosphere in which to spend important moments. A truly positive experience that I will gladly carry in my heart.

25/07/2026: The food was acceptable but nothing special, the prices were very high and grossly inflated, the owner and therefore the staff were rude and unpleasant, and a foreign sailing colleague was treated badly. Not recommended. There are 100 times better places in Muggia.

18/07/2026: A stunning location, as are the staff and the food. In the evening, after the spectacular sunset, the room lights up with a thousand stars. Surprise and enchantment are the perfect words to describe this little corner of paradise. A must-see for anyone passing through and wanting to take a piece of Lignano Sabbiadoro home with them, or, why not, for anyone who wants to experience its wonders once again. Thank you so much.

28/05/2026: The restaurant offers a very pleasant ambiance right in the old town and a comfortable atmosphere. The food is generally good, however, the carbonara doesn't use authentic Italian speck. The service didn't meet our expectations and wasn't quite up to par, as glasses weren't brought despite our repeated requests. 28/05/2026: “Unfortunately, the service didn't live up to expectations. They brought us one less glass and we didn't even receive napkins. The portions were quite small. The carbonara and pizza were average, nothing special. Furthermore, the waiter only came to our table twice to bring us something, but otherwise he was practically never seen.”

29/06/2026: Ristorante Al Castello in Cividale lives primarily off its stunning location. The view over the city and the beautiful sunset make the evening truly special. We enjoyed two excellent wines from the Tunella winery – first a crisp 2024 Pinot Grigio, followed by the characterful 2023 Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. Both wines were the highlights of the evening. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food. While the dishes were visually appealing, they didn't live up to expectations in terms of taste. The octopus on pea purée, the polenta, the lamb, and the fish all tasted very dry and were more reminiscent of convenience or frozen food than freshly prepared dishes – especially in a region with such excellent produce, I would have expected much more. The restaurant itself is also showing its age. Of course, a historic castle doesn't have to be modern – on the contrary, that has its own charm. But overall, it lacks attention to detail and an atmosphere that truly reflects its unique location. Unfortunately, the service was also lacking. The waitress seemed unmotivated and didn't ask once throughout the entire evening whether we enjoyed the food or if everything was alright. In conclusion: The view, the sunset, and the excellent wines saved the evening. However, the food and service fell far short of expectations. It's a shame – with such a unique location, so much more was possible. The stale cookies at the end, as well as the convenience food, could have been omitted.
