16/03/2026: Over the years, I have had very mixed experiences in this restaurant. Overall, the food is pretty nice, though the wait is always very long. Dont go there if you are in a hurry. Also staff could be a little nicer/ sympathetic when refusing customers without bookings. Maybe they feel they don’t have to make an effort because they are mentioned in every guidebook and their address is very central? In any case, there are better restaurants in Assisi and you may get a better welcome elsewhere so do keep that in mind.

14/03/2026: We came to this restaurant not through reviews, but through the recommendation of a host who raved so much about it that we couldn't help but book. So, I booked the 7:30 PM table about 15 days in advance. We arrived right on time and full of high expectations. They seated us, brought us drinks, and after a few minutes we ordered. The first course was torta al testo with vegetables. The first course was served cold, the second courses were unseasoned and tasteless. The second course was suckling pig with potatoes and stuffed guinea fowl, and again, it didn't live up to expectations. The suckling pig was dry and hard to chew, the potatoes were microwaved and extremely salty. The guinea fowl, however, arrived "messy," meaning that so many spices, herbs, and various sauces had been added to the dish that they completely covered the flavor of the guinea fowl. Estimated dinner time: about 30 minutes. They served us so quickly that not even fast food restaurants can keep up with that pace, and obviously this rush to get us all fed and then quickly send us away reached its peak when, when I asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, my husband replied that I would get one, but, I should add, not right away, in a little while (just enough time to finish the wine). Less than a minute later, the waitress arrived with the coffee. I told her I wanted to wait, and she irritably told me she'd bring it to me in a minute, as I'd said. Now, I understand quite well that these mechanisms are designed to get us to leave the table quickly, but they weren't necessary because the staff's lack of courtesy, empathy, and touchiness would have made us leave the table regardless of the coffee. I should add that no one said goodbye or thanked us as we left. They did, however, charge us the €60 for three courses. That said, I strongly advise against this place. The quality isn't worth the price. Move on.

14/03/2026: Typical local cuisine, reasonable wait, the cold cuts platter is all in all limited to 3 specialties, the pasta is good, the cheeses are also generous portions.

17/10/2025: We stopped by in May during our honeymoon and discovered a wonderful shop! The lady who welcomed us was incredibly kind and gracious: she let us taste everything with great enthusiasm, without ever making us feel in the way. The products, especially the wild boar ones, are exceptional! Congratulations for the quality and the welcome. Furthermore, with great courtesy, all the products we purchased were vacuum-packed for our return trip to Padua. Impeccable service, attentive to every detail. We will definitely be back! 28/09/2025: The best torta al testo in Assisi! Excellent quality ingredients, and one of the best torta al testo I've ever eaten. Fair prices, and friendly and welcoming owners who are committed to maintaining the high quality of their products. Definitely not to be missed.

04/03/2026: I stopped here for a quick lunch and ordered the daily menu (€13 for a starter, main course, and side dish, very affordable). I was greeted by a very kind and smiling young woman who served me throughout the meal. The food was good, although the pasta was a little al dente. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired: the corners are dirty and dusty, and overall, the restaurant seems quite neglected. The girl at the cash register offered me a coffee, and I found the restaurant overall to be very affordable.

01/03/2026: This isn't our first time at "Il Cantico." We found impeccable service and a family atmosphere that made you feel right at home. Everything was perfect. We'll definitely be back!

Special mention goes to Fabio, the charming owner who makes his guests (not customers, as we felt) feel at ease, helping us pair the dishes with excellent local wines. For anyone visiting Assisi, this is a must-see!

09/03/2026: I had a lovely meal at this very welcoming and quaint restaurant. The wait for your food is perhaps a bit long, but the friendliness of the staff and the high quality of the food will certainly make it a worthwhile experience.

02/03/2026: We stumbled upon this restaurant near Assisi by chance. We were warmly welcomed, even with our Czechoslovakian wolf. We dined there two nights in a row because we wanted to try the different dishes. We ate everything very well! The staff was very kind! I highly recommend it...

24/02/2026: We went to this restaurant with the kids and I can say we had a great time. The food was very good, the service was excellent and attentive, and the prices were fair. The traditional torta testo, pasta, and house antipasto were delicious—at least that's what we ate. Congratulations! If we return to the area, we'll definitely come back to you.

17/11/2025: A charming property surrounded by greenery, it has it all. Eddie, the manager, is truly kind and helpful, making you feel at home and offering advice on everything to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. Honestly, it's hard to find a better place. We stayed one night in November to visit Assisi, which is just a few minutes' drive away. It'll probably be even more beautiful in the summer, as there's a lovely pool. The apartment called "I Papaveri" on the upper floor is truly exquisite, welcoming, and equipped with every comfort. See you soon.

13/01/2026: I appreciated everything except the ban on pets. It was absolutely mandatory, no ifs, ands, or buts. We had already checked out of the hotel, and it was impossible for us to leave him in the room.

The cuisine impresses with consistently fresh and incredibly flavorful ingredients, the taste of which is clearly evident in every bite. Despite its modest size, the restaurant is lively and cozy – you immediately feel welcome. The unique combination of Indian and Italian influences is particularly impressive, giving the dishes a distinctive and surprising touch. This creative fusion is exceptional and makes dining a truly memorable experience. A place you'll want to return to and highly recommend.
