30/07/2025: An excellent lunch at this pleasant restaurant, where we were greeted with extreme courtesy despite arriving ten minutes before closing time. We ordered unique dishes featuring local specialties; everything was delicious, made with quality ingredients, and beautifully presented. The house wine was full-bodied and perfectly complemented the dishes. Generous portions and very reasonable prices, considering it's right in the heart of the rather expensive Livigno. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely return for the kindness of the staff and to sample other specialties of Livigno cuisine.

15/06/2025: I traveled to Chiavenna by public transport via Prättigau, Engadin, and the Maloja Pass. I went exploring the old town of this provincial town. The alleys are bustling with life. My stay at the Passerini was absolutely delightful. The ambiance at the Palazzo Salis is inviting, the food is excellent, and the service is both competent and friendly. The value for money is good. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The return journey by post bus over the Splügen Pass is interesting. A very nice excursion with a GA or municipal day ticket to Chiavenna at no extra cost.

26/08/2025: Nice place, food ( tagliatelle with mushrooms) was fresh and tasty. Also tiramisu with coffee was a sweet end of the diner. The place filled up pretty quickly after 19:00.
21/08/2025: Not in the main tourist zone, but perhaps that's why the prices, service, and quality of the food and drinks are unbeatable. The pizza with bresaola and porcini mushrooms was amazing! The bruschetta and tiramisu were also delicious. The service was very attentive, friendly, and attentive. Highly recommended!

25/08/2025: Friendly and attentive service. The place is clean and tidy, with a lovely outdoor area and a singer. The food presentation was excellent. We had pizzoccheri served on a very distinctive plate, and Haidi's grandfather's tagliolini, which were delicious, made with pancetta and parmesan shavings, tomatoes, and radicchio. The fruit salad with ice cream was truly rich in fruit. Prices were average.
23/08/2025: We visited this restaurant this evening, my first time there, and it was a pleasant surprise, not only for the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail, but also for the delightful welcome "tagliatelle" (a small piece of tagliatelle)—a truly classy touch. The skewer was truly spectacular, perfectly cooked, and accompanied by a lemon and bay leaf "salina" that gave the game just the right acidity, giving it that extra something. I would have loved to try all the desserts, but I was intrigued by the Braulio sorbet, which was truly remarkable. Well, I'd say we have all the ingredients, at least for us, to give it a full 5 stars, with further compliments to Chef Luca and the entire staff. I can't wait to return!

Lanterna Verde

27/07/2025: As a novice in the field of the much-vaunted haute cuisine this place purports to offer, it feels right to faithfully represent what's offered by the infamous Lanterna Verde, a supposed bastion of the most refined dining in Valchiavenna. Once inside, we're greeted by the entire dining room staff, and immediately reveal the voucher we've been given (the most expensive and comprehensive "gourmet gourmand" voucher). The reaction is completely unexpected: bordering on annoyance, the aforementioned individuals repeatedly point out, with hints of meticulous impatience, that we should have announced this circumstance during the telephone reservation and that they could have served us deo gratias only because the restaurant was essentially empty (Saturday evening). On this point in particular, the lady was particularly pedantic. We're then led to our table in what easily resembles a Central European armory to begin the experience, overwhelmed by the waiting staff, who relentlessly dish out between courses an entree (the only real highlight, along with the baked goods) and daring appetizers, certainly displaying great inventiveness but overall bland in their practical application. The overflowing plates are preceded by glasses of wine, hastily displayed, as are the dishes themselves, which are banally and didacticly described. The staff's response to any further inquiries is tautological and entirely affected. Then it's on to the main course (lamb with pepperoni and chard). Fully aware of the typical size of dishes offered at this type of restaurant, we can't ignore two laughable slices of well-cooked meat, completely devoid of any interest whatsoever, as far as pairing goes, except with a blended red wine coordinated with a smoking process in keeping with the dish's rationale. The curtain closes with a cloying dessert and a small plate of small pastries with a transalpine flavor. But in all honesty, it wasn't so much the cuisine that marked the dinner's failure as the waiters' attitude from the start. Behind a scarcely believable, poorly acted affability, the perception is that we were truly served "out of duty" and not liked, especially by the lady, who instead engaged in sumptuous conversation with the neighboring diners. While the young waiters simply silently followed directions, at least the gentleman showed a bit more cordiality and was the only one with whom it was possible to engage in a few brief conversations about the merits of the matter. Overall, therefore, an occasional and unhappy experience: perhaps the Michelin star, the attribution of which we are certainly not qualified to question, went a bit to the Tonolas' heads, who confuse knowing how to do things well with showing off, a prerogative that no one in this strange world deserves. Remember that society isn't made up of slicked-back queers, but rather of ordinary people who have the right and the ability to get close to them. And we, who thought we'd landed in trout heaven, have come home like shrimp!
27/07/2025: I'd call it a Kafkaesque experience. We visited this famous Lanterna Verde on a Saturday evening, which has established itself as the deus ex machina of Valtellina haute cuisine, and here is where its decline began. Upon arrival, we presented the gift voucher, valid for a "gourmet and gourmand" tasting menu for two, including a wine selection, as listed on their website. Without giving us a chance to explain, both the gentleman and the lady at the entrance immediately reiterated—in a cold, peremptory tone—that we should have "let them know," despite the reservation having been made days in advance. We were also told that we were lucky to be able to get a seat, given the lack of tables reserved for the evening. A welcome that, to say the least, left much to be desired. Once seated, the tasting menu began. The entrée deserves special mention, as it was truly thoughtful and well-balanced. The rest of the courses featured original combinations, which may or may not be appreciated depending on personal taste. But the real sore point of the evening wasn't the food, but the service. In a restaurant with a Michelin star and a green star, I expect every aspect of the experience to be meticulously crafted, including the service. Instead, the courses arrived at a rapid pace, without pause, with minimal explanations. Questions addressed to the waiters were met with flat responses, devoid of enthusiasm or detail. The younger waiters seemed like NPCs programmed solely to serve and clear the table, without a word to speak. No one expects the loquacity of General Vannacci, but neither does they expect a silence verging on silence. The older waitress, with us, limited herself to a polite smile, avoiding any interaction, while at the next table there was no shortage of chatter, smiles, and laughter. We felt like we were treated like second-class customers, perhaps simply because we were twenty-somethings who happened to be here differently than the usual clientele? Posterity will judge. Postscript: Between dessert and pastries, the kitchen closed down, turning off all the lights and leaving us alone in the dining room, in a surreal atmosphere more reminiscent of a tea room than a fine dining restaurant.

01/08/2025: Un’esperienza culinaria davvero fantastica. Dalla prima forchettata dell’antipasto (petali di lardo su patata) all’ultima cucchiaiata del semifreddo è stata una meraviglia gustativa. Lo spiedino di manzo era cotto alla perfezione, le tagliatelle fatte in casa ai mirtilli erano buonissimi. Non posso che consigliare assolutamente il ristorante. Menù fisso visto che fa anche da albergo, mi ha dato l’opportunità di scoprire nuove ricette, e farmi sorprendere. La presentazione anche sempre da 4*. Cordialissima. Bravi!
27/07/2025: After a nice, but not strenuous, hike, we stopped at this little mountain hut. The owners are two very nice people; her husband is a chef and very good at it. The food is excellent. She's very kind and helpful. The cakes are superb!!! Highly recommended.

17/08/2025: A hostel run by young, dynamic staff. Welcoming and clean. The location is excellent, quiet and close to the center of Bormio, yet close to green spaces. The lovely garden is a great place to have breakfast (excellent and varied, including sweet and savory options) and lunch overlooking the mountains. Highly recommended.
16/08/2025: A really cool place... organized, clean, magical... you meet lots of people, of all ages... magnificent bar with garden, rooms with very large bathroom, locker, towels and sheets... private parking along the cycle path, excellent breakfast buffet... spacious TV and relaxation room

18/08/2025: We went last week with our 5-year-old son. Excellent porcini mushroom risotto, homemade tagliatelle with ragù, and I recommend the charcoal-baked pizza with scampi and buffalo mozzarella, delicious. Friendly, fast service, modern, and very charming atmosphere.
24/07/2025: We spent three nights in Chiavenna and ate at this restaurant twice. The pizzas are truly excellent. But we were particularly impressed by the pasta dishes with mussels or fish. They also had a good wine selection. Fair value for money.

18/08/2025: A beautiful traditional restaurant, both inside and out in the summer. The sciatt and pizzoccheri are undoubtedly the best in Livigno, and to top it all off, they also have an excellent vegan menu. The attentive, kind, and friendly staff make the difference every time I return.

18/08/2025: We went to La Tresenda for the alpaca and llama experience, the animal visit, and finally for an excellent lunch. The food was truly delicious, the experience was delightful, the place was super clean and truly beautiful; the man who takes care of the animals and the visits is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and courteous, as is the rest of the staff. When we return to Livigno, we will definitely visit them again.
