15/11/2025: This evening we had a wonderful dinner at a fair price!!! We highly recommend it!! Unfortunately, the out-of-the-way location and lack of a clearly visible sign, in my opinion, penalize it!!!
21/10/2025: An unexpected lunch stop on a holiday. The first course, a mille-feuille with cod and arugula, was spectacular but bland; the dessert, on the other hand, was tasty but parsnip, unlike the rather hefty bill.
A quarter of the house white wine was €8.
An unforgettable experience.

02/04/2026: Pizzeria right on the Grand Canal; inside the tables are very close together, and of course, they won't give a table for four to three people. Naturally, you'll end up sitting right next to other people and next to the cash register.

24/02/2026: Our favorite place, we feel at home here.
A welcoming and very well-kept place.
The staff—there's no word to describe it—are attentive to every request, friendly, kind, and above all, always smiling.
The cuisine is special, with fresh seafood, and it shows in every dish the chef prepares.
A wide selection of wines, from local classics to those from beyond the region.
The bar is well-stocked with every spirit.
I recommend going because your taste buds deserve it.
22/02/2026: The atmosphere was lovely, and both terraces overlooked their respective harbors: the local harbor and the industrial port. The food was good (after a 1.5-hour wait, it tasted great!), and the antipasto platter was excellent. I didn't realize that in Italy, one of two glasses of wine could be undrinkable and the next not very good. The service was okay, not impolite, but a bit rough around the edges – perhaps the local culture has rubbed off on them.

10/12/2025: Pre-Christmas dinner with friends, very satisfying food and service, but with a bittersweet ending.
We agreed well in advance on a €50 fixed menu excluding drinks and desserts. No one asked for more. The final bill rose to €100. We immediately asked for clarification, but the owner couldn't clarify the surcharge; in fact, he even imposed the payment method! Embarrassing, to say the least, and dishonest for the customers.
10/12/2025: What can I say? The food was good. Unfortunately, the downside was the price, agreed upon for a dinner for 12 with a fixed menu: 50/55 euros, plus drinks.
We paid 100 euros each, drinking the house wine.
I asked for an explanation, but despite the embarrassment, I didn't get one.
Perhaps by ordering from the menu, they can't inflate the bill.
I'm sorry, but I won't go there again.

02/02/2026: Unfortunately, a big disappointment.
I ordered a chocolate cake, and it arrived topped with mint - even though I'm allergic to mint. Completely irresponsible and dangerous.
The panna cotta was served with peanut butter, which makes absolutely no sense and ruined the dessert. The flavor combinations are random and thoughtless.
4 such cakes and two espressos, €56
26/01/2026: Decided to drop in for a Cappuccino and a treat. The reason is this place is named after my father Harry.
Anyway, service was excellent, treat delicious, Cappuccino was wonderful. But of course we can't make a habit of it as it's a bit above our price range which we expected. Great relaxing experience.

30/09/2025: During the renovation we were given rooms on the top floor without a lift and still to be renovated under the roof not exactly a nice value to see living and above all paying other people on the lower floors everything was ok maybe we were the unlucky ones and in any case we were not warned of the differences in quality of the rooms by the manager

04/01/2026: Truly a disaster!
Apart from the average ambiance and friendly staff, everything else was a disaster.
The pizza I ordered was a disaster, the edges were burnt, tasteless and everything was overdone.
They charge an additional 2 euros per place setting, which I have never seen in all my years of visiting Trieste.
We ordered without a drink but they still delivered water, which they said was included in the service price.
When I received the bill, it was charged separately.
I am attaching the bill.
I really do not recommend visiting.
Disaster!

28/07/2025: Sooo schlecht. Die 2-3 Kellnerinnen waren heillos überfordert. Es dauerte ewig bis die Bestellung aufgenommen wurde (auch Getränke) und über eine Stunde bis das Essen kam. Die Portionen waren sehr übersichtlich, relativ geschmacklos und, was am schlimmsten war: kalt!
Zur Bezahlung ging mein Mann extra rein, um dann gesagt zu bekommen, wo käme an den Tisch… natürlich dauerte dies wieder ewig, um dann zu erfahren, dass er zum kartenzahlen eh rein gemusst hätte, was wir vorher schon gesehen hatten. Hätten wir bloß vorher die Bewertungen hier gelesen, dann wäre uns diese sehr negative Erfahrung erspart geblieben.
26/07/2025: Ci siamo fermati per caso in questo ristorantino a due passi da piazza Unità d’Italia. Abbiamo mangiato bene, il servizio ottimo, personale accogliente e premuroso.
Inizialmente ci eravamo un po’ spaventati leggendo le tante recensioni negative ma alla fine siamo rimasti piacevolmente sorpresi. Recensioni ingenerose. Consigliato vivamente soprattutto per gli gnocchi al Gulash ed i dolci.

Restaurant Mascalzone Latino

12/09/2023: Everything is great about this restaurant that we visited several times, but always when visiting Trieste. If I had a dinner somewhere else, I would go for second dinner in Mascalzone.
I remember Rocco, the owner, who looks like Mancini, and the staff that was always on top level.
Nice, warm atmosphere and above all very tasty, simple food, prices normal.
Recommendation.
