20/01/2025: When I'm on holiday, I like to try a different restaurant every evening. I willingly derogated from this rule in Spoleto, choosing C'era una volta l'osteria for two evenings in a row. The welcoming and familiar atmosphere of the owners certainly contributed a lot. Mrs. Rita is an exquisite host! Don't miss the strengozzi with broad beans, bacon and pecorino! In addition to the house platter, the braised meat, and last but not least the legendary "porcona", breaded and oven-baked pork chop with potatoes. Unmissable for the grand finale is the "cresonda", a typical Spoleto dessert. Highly recommended

19/01/2025: Out of three evenings in Spoleto we dined there twice, won over by the familiarity and goodness of the food. From the mixed platter to the strangozzi, broad beans, pecorino and bacon to the very tasty porcona (pork coppa steak breaded and cooked in the oven). The soft Amarettosa Cresonda and the bitter Viparo were the worthy conclusion! Everyone is kind but Mrs. Rita is more 🤗 Better to book especially on weekends. Excellent value for money. The house wine is appreciable! If I return to Spoleto I will know where to go!

25/11/2024: Ottimo posto vicino a Spoleto. Locale accogliente e caratteristico. Abbiamo pranzato con ottimi piatti della tradizione umbra. Un posto da provare..... il personale è stato affabile ed efficiente. Tutto molto bene.... ci tornerò.

17/11/2024: Ristorante con delle possibilità ma sfruttate poco e male. Spiace essere trattati da turisti inesperti. La location è graziosa ma poco e male riscaldata e mangiare al freddo non è una bella esperienza. La cucina è da trattoria (e andrebbe benissimo) se i prezzi fossero equiparati e le porzioni più abbondanti. Rapporto qualità prezzo decisamente squilibrato. I piatti arrivano freddi e anche questo non depone a favore. Il personale è decisamente affabile e disponibile, ma sul resto c'è ancora molto lavoro da fare.

14/01/2025: A passing dinner before staying in the hotel, I was very impressed by the pork chop and the mixed grill, the meat, especially the chop was exceptional, tender, juicy, tasty without adding salt. I would recommend cooking al dente for the first courses, the girl who served us was very kind and nice. Happy New Year

28/12/2024: Avevo ordinato 5 pizze da asporto per le 20 ho aspettato che servisse una persona prima di me e altre 15 minuti perché le pizze non le aveva ancora fatte, nell'attesa mi ha fatto pagare il conto. Dia io che la signora precedente abbiamo pagato con il pos e come ricevuta danno solo quella del pos senza emettere scontrino fiscale (non so come sia possibile fare una cosa del genere) . Arrivate le pizze ho sentito subito un odore strano per niente appetitoso. A casa abbiamo comunque mangiato queste pizze che sembravano dei sottilissimi biscotti con mozzarella strana dall'odore...mangiate per fame. Nella notte mi sono svegliata cercando ancora di digerire, un'altra persona che ne aveva mangiata solo metà ha dato di stomaco. Non consiglio questo locale per le pizze , la 4 formaggi senza gorgonzola e con formaggi non riconoscibili dal sapore, quella al salame piccante era farcita con qualche fettina di salsiccia piccola piccante qua e là. Ma ripeto l'odore non era invitante. Per le altre specialità della casa non posso dire nulla non avendole provate. Non tornerò mai più.

05/01/2025: An enchanting place. The service was excellent and courteous. We had a spectacular appetizer from the Signoria. Very rich and excellent. We then ordered two first courses, one better than the other. We completed with the dessert: pistachio bufalina which I highly recommend. We will return and absolutely recommend it. Everything really perfect

29/09/2024: We stayed at Borgo della Marmotta for 5 nights and loved our time there. The property is stunning and the perfect blend of rustic, cozy, and thoughtful. PROS: beautiful setting, great pool area, clean/simple/cozy rooms (we stayed in a superior), warm/helpful staff (thank you Luca for making our stay so special!), and nice breakfast spread (meats/cheeses, fruit, baked goods, coffee). CONS: our mattress was very firm and not the most comfortable (this is a personal preference), persistent issues with A/C in the room (however, the staff was very responsive and worked to help fix the problem which was so appreciated), and dinner food was just ok (we had better meals outside of the hotel). For us the pros significantly outweighed the few cons. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be returning on our next visit to Umbria!
