10/01/2026: We spent a few days in Pistoia for the Christmas holidays, and on the evening of January 1st, craving a nice Florentine steak, we stumbled upon this typical trattoria. They offer a fixed-price menu, which I recommend, which includes mixed appetizers, a Florentine steak of a weight appropriate for the number of guests, three side dishes, and a dessert. Drinks are not included. The owner, like the staff, is incredibly welcoming. You can tell they really care about explaining the quality and provenance of the meat. Oh! By the way, aside from appetizers and side dishes: THEY ONLY EAT MEAT! It's a real steakhouse; they don't do first courses, they don't do fish... What a steak, folks! Served on piping hot plates so it doesn't get cold, and cut at the table by the owner himself. The only flaw: they served us French meat. Good, tender, but not the most flavorful. I would have preferred local meat. Anyway, I recommend it. It's worth it.

06/01/2026: This traditional Tuscan restaurant is located on Via Sant'Andrea in Pistoia, in a beautiful medieval building restored with exposed brick and stone. Enjoy fabulous grilled meats and traditional dishes with tasty crostini, excellent cured meats, side dishes, and appetizers, accompanied by a wide selection of white and red wines. The owners, with great professionalism and kindness, recommend these wines, turning a simple dinner into a truly exquisite culinary experience. The restaurant is truly beautiful, meticulously maintained, and fantastic for photographs. Excellent in every way! The food, wines, hospitality, and sophistication. Recommended restaurant!

30/12/2025: We chose this restaurant on a beautiful Sunday in November, inspired by the numerous positive reviews, and I must say we were completely satisfied! We sat in the second room, more modern and welcoming than the entrance, and immediately appreciated the elegant yet unpretentious atmosphere and the kindness of the staff. Pappardelle with wild boar ragù, fried porcini mushrooms, a delicious roasted porcini mushroom cap, and the inevitable steak! A good red wine accompanied it, and a cream-filled millefeuille for dessert. What can I say... it was an absolutely satisfying lunch. We waited a bit for the meat, probably because the place was crowded, but it was absolutely worth it: quality produce, cooked properly, and beautifully presented... Excellent! The pappardelle with wild boar thrilled the kids, and the mushrooms were the icing on the cake of a lunch that simply leaves you wanting more. Considering the quality of the product, the bill seemed fair for what we ordered. Parking might be a bit difficult along the road that runs through this small corner of Nievole; I'd recommend arriving 10 minutes before rush hour. Otherwise, "Il Pellegrino" keeps all its promises and offers customers a totally positive experience! Top marks!

24/02/2026: A thrilling experience for the palate. Traditional dishes revisited by an excellent chef. I recommend the tripe in white sauce with truffles. Unrivaled. Everything we tried was excellent: the "gocchi" (a type of pasta) as an appetizer, and the truffle gnudi as a main course. The service was attentive, courteous, and witty, but without being overbearing. I recommend it to everyone. We'll definitely be back.

A slice of excellent truffled mortadella; a slice of good coppa di testa; a slice and a half of Cinta salami, not memorable but good; two olives, a forkful of stracchino, and a strip of focaccia with melted pecorino cheese on top—excellent! (...the quantities are per person). The two-seasoned meat was absolutely perfect...we certainly didn't wake up feeling full. It was accompanied by a generous helping of potatoes (normal, not wow-worthy), a good roasted onion (I think), and a salad of cabbage, I think, seasoned with sour and cumin. The Cons The bill was a bit harsh (hence the three stars). The base described was €57, we spent €92, and it made the difference: service charge, a tiramisu, a bottle of water, two coffees, and two glasses of Bolgheri...but the choice was between Chianti Morellino and Bolgheri! (...served in a balloon with a generous three inches of liquid) All for €35. To be fair, they gave us a €2 discount on our receipt and a voucher for an appetizer (which looked tasty)! In my opinion, the music was pleasant but a tad loud! Excellent on-site parking! Updated February 27, 2026 Given the owner's response, I'm raising my rating to 4 stars. Thinking about it, if the portions are actually bigger, the excellent quality and taste are definitely worth the expense!

03/11/2025: An excellent restaurant in the heart of Pistoia, almost on Piazza della Sala, with a very original and tasteful decor. This is our menu: tortelli filled with Prato mortadella with a parmesan cream, chopped pistachios, and drops of basil reduction, artisanally marinated beef carpaccio with crunchy seasonal vegetables, and dessert.

16/10/2025: The olive oil tour is highly recommended! Incredibly delicious olive oil at a great price, which you'll appreciate even more after a tour where they explain how much time and energy this process takes. David and his wife were incredibly hospitable!

06/10/2025: David and Georgia are the perfect hosts. You can feel at any given moment that they love what they do. Not only is the gorgeous farmhouse located in a beautiful area, but the service both of them provide is excellent. If you get the chance to enjoy the „farm-to-table“ experience, go for it! It is absolutely worth it. If we ever travel back to this area, we will definitely stay with them again!

19/10/2025: What an absolute pleasure to dine here. Great pizza (served only after 7pm), as well as great lasagne, paninis, and wine/cocktails. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the setting is friendly and casual. Special mention to the waiter (the bald gentleman), who was exceedingly polite, accommodating, and patient with food and drink orders. Everything we had was delicious. This is a great spot to get a meal, or just stop for a drink (as of October 2025, aperol spritz are only €5!). If you’re in Montecatini for a night or two, this place deserves a stop!

The quality is high and obviously comes at a cost, but certain taste experiences are worth trying. It's no coincidence that it's climbing the Italian rankings. A small place, but with attention to every detail. Anyone looking for something different is in the right place. I highly recommend it. Try it and believe it. You eat with your mouth, with your eyes, and you'll always say WOW.

26/10/2025: We were two couples on Saturday evening at 7:30 PM, the only available time. The place was already packed, and there was a line outside for 9 PM. The atmosphere was very refined, with beautiful exposed stone ceilings and videos of the chef's creations: elegant and tasteful. It was a shame, however, that the space was too small and crowded: the background noise was excessive, and it was also quite hot. It's hard to call it a relaxing experience in those conditions. The pizza, however, was truly exceptional: the Visione di Marinara is among the best I've ever had, beautiful and delicious, the dough just a little chewy. The desserts were disappointing: good but with a bland presentation, not up to par with the restaurant.

08/03/2026: We had lunch at this trattoria a little out of town. The four of us had a great time. The professional staff recommended some of the day's specials. We thoroughly enjoyed everything: a good platter of cured meats and cheeses with sauces and honey, a plate of delicious fried artichokes, three wild boar slices with polenta, a semolina dessert, and two coffees. We spent €96. It seemed reasonable and good value, and the service was also good. The place was nice, clean, and tidy, with a covered veranda.
