02/01/2026: I don't usually write reviews. The last time was a couple of years ago for a large warehouse store in Catania, where no one answered the phone. I mixed this with something else, but this is still the most read, and they still hate me. But I can't help it. I was there this December 31, 2025, for New Year's Eve. I was used to the old management, where all the old-fashioned farming tools hung on the walls, true peasant culture of the past. I hope they've ended up in a museum. So everything's been repainted but bare, it feels like a service station, but that's the manager's decision. I can't expect to eat with a copy of Botticelli's Venus displayed in the Pitti Palace in Florence in front of me. But not with a worse view either. The food was decent, let's say, given that in these cases you have to serve mass-produced food. Service for the day was quick. What I didn't like: My table was the closest as the crow flies to Djay. But to his left, so I could hear distorted music, which was horrible for me. For someone like me, now retired, who as a hobby sells online, high-fidelity equipment, especially vintage for home and other purposes, throughout Europe upon request, even in China, Russia (before the war), and even America—this was when certain objects were owned by me and only me in the entire world. It wasn't pleasant to my ear, accustomed to much higher quality music, but for one evening it was fine. But I had different music. Nothing between me and the DJ, just space to dance with a constant crowd of jumping and screaming children. Why would I go to the lido in the summer and pay to avoid all this? I might as well go to the public beach and get kicked by balls and sand from other people's running children. It wasn't a peaceful meal. But the worst of all was the table reserved for me. Far from a Botticelli painting, the worst view, because within three, if not two, meters of the bathroom entrance, there were no other tables. The closest was mine, with a crowd coming and going. And if they were occupied, a crowd of standing statues waiting next to me. No. I'm sorry. That's the place where some restaurants, with humanity, feed the needy, without charging. THE place of the poor. If you put me there in Sicilian, you don't have a nose, but the soul of the shopkeeper counting pennies in the back room. And you can't make me look like a poor man twice over by sending someone who looked like the head waiter to tell me we were the only ones left who hadn't paid yet. And he even had a surprised look on his face! As if we were out of place! It's the restaurant that's totally out of place in terms of manners. It's normal for me to pay at the exit, as I've always done. Under the old management, where I've been hundreds of times, they didn't ask me to pay first; they rolled out the red carpet for me. I went to pay. Without opening my wallet to show my credit cards. That would have been ostentatious. In cash to show I had the money, and it's there. If I did it out of contempt, it's pointless to say, because they didn't understand. If I had to go from Bolognetta, where I have a second home, to Marineo, if there were a slip road, I'd take it. There isn't one. I'll just walk by without looking.

13/07/2025: We really like this place for breakfast. Their strength is service, so far all staff have been very kind with us. I recommend trying the ‘pan d’arancia’, it is divine. I don’t really like their croissants any more, I think they’ve changed their original recipe. But the rest is all good.

14/02/2026: Tourist trap. They put oranges and lemons on display, and then sell you orange juice as if it were freshly squeezed juice. 8.60 for two coffees and a juice. Avoid.

22/01/2026: The restaurant consists of two parts, facing each other. One is a café. Delicious coffee. The other is a bar serving traditional food. Empty. No customers. Polite and friendly service. Great location. 400 meters from the train station. Beautiful views.

28/02/2025: Firstly apologies for the late review! My partner and I came here in 2023 and it was the BEST restaurant we went to on our Palermo trip. So good in fact we went twice. We had a bottle of the house white with the tuna pasta and mixed seafood pasta. It was absolutely delicious. The chefs are amazing and waiters are extremely kind and accommodating. We spoke to the chef afterwards and said how delicious the food was and it clearly made their day and seemed genuinely appreciative of our thanks. I think it speaks volumes that 2 years later we are still thinking about this restaurant and planning our return trip. Please ignore any not so good reviews of this restaurant and give it a try and support a local family restaurant. I promise you will not regret it and it will be a meal to remember. Thank you so much to the staff here, it was truly delicious

30/11/2025: Today I visited Monreale with my family. It was beautiful. I called a local friend and asked where I could go for a traditional meal, and he suggested Al Matteotti Bistrot. I must say that Enzo and Domenico, the owners, welcomed me right away, making me feel right at home. Reading the menu, I was spoiled for choice, so I left it to myself. They served me some truly excellent appetizers and main courses, typical of the area and truly interesting in flavor. But beyond that, there's so much more to choose from, from sandwiches to salads, etc. When I return to Monreale, it will be my regular stop. I recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy excellent cuisine at a very affordable price. You'll find it just a few meters from the Piazza del Duomo.

22/12/2025: A simple little restaurant, but that doesn't mean it's not good quality. The menu is limited, but it has everything to satisfy those who want good food. I had the mussel soup with a very good, not too heavy sauce. The squid was also good, cooked properly and flavorful. Prices are reasonable, not expensive. The atmosphere is clean, and the service is friendly.

21/12/2025: Chitarra costa di Mongerbino was my favorite pasta. Good pasta, nice place, friendly people!

01/03/2026: Unfortunately, it was a very negative experience. We had booked a table for 9:30 PM, but it wasn't ready when we arrived. After more than 45 minutes of pointless waiting, we asked for an explanation: we were dismissively told that there was nothing they could do and that we should simply wait, with no estimate of how long it would take. In the end, we decided to leave. I find it unacceptable to accept reservations if you're unable to manage the flow of customers or offer even a minimal welcome to those waiting. I strongly advise against it.

11/03/2026: Last night we celebrated my daughter's graduation. I can't thank you enough. You fulfilled my every wish and everything was impeccable. The food was plentiful and of unquestionable quality. Your courtesy is priceless and can never be taken for granted. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My guests have inundated me with phone calls to compliment the good food. We are a large family and luckily there is always something to celebrate. See you very soon and I swear it's not a threat. 😂😂😂

The owner is incredibly kind and takes the time to guide you through the diverse wine options, ensuring you make the perfect choice for your purchase. Update: This place remains just as great as ever. The service is still amazing, and in addition to the outstanding wine list, they serve fantastic Caspian black caviar — perfectly paired with simple snacks, pastries, or whatever you prefer. The champagne selection is still excellent, with great choices for every taste. The owner continues to be incredibly kind and attentive, always happy to guide you and help you choose the perfect wine for the moment. A truly special enoteca worth returning to again and again.
