31/05/2026: This was our first time at Monticchio Laghi. Unfamiliar with the place, we ordered two sandwiches for €8 each. They weren't particularly special, and we were told that the sandwiches are takeout only and you can't reserve tables just for sandwiches. We then went up to the abbey where we found a bar that was doing outrageous paninazzi for €5 and platters for €10. We only had ice cream and coffee, but we were comfortably seated. Next time, we know where to go directly :).. Take a look.
25/05/2026: Despite the already high prices for the modest quality of the product, when we got the bill we found a further increase. They justified themselves by saying that they had given us the old menu but the increase was still higher than that indicated on the new menu. Fortunately, they understood that we were not tourists to be fleeced and angrily removed the increase without even apologizing. Highly not recommended, the staff is not very honest. If we had not paid attention to the bill we would have left ourselves almost 30 euros more.

Mojito Bistro'

19/08/2026: We went to this Mojito bistro with high expectations, but the evening turned out to be a total disappointment.
We ordered three "conviviale" dishes designed to be shared by six people, but the portions were clearly insufficient to even taste what was on the plate. You can't offer a sharing dish if the portions are so meager.
The drinks didn't improve either: a long drink served in a tiny 200ml glass, essentially two sips filled with ice, but paid full price like a standard cocktail.
To top it all off, the comfort was zero: seven of us crammed around a tiny table, where there wasn't even enough space to properly set down our plates and glasses.
The final bill was decidedly exorbitant for the service and the portions served. Leaving a place hungry and facing a hefty bill is unacceptable. We won't be back, and I don't recommend it.

Tiziana is fantastic; she welcomed us with kindness and professionalism. We ate very well, with typical dishes and reasonable prices.
Google Maps had taken us to the wrong address, so be careful.

10/06/2025: Sono stata a pranzo al Mizar con un gruppo di circa 30 persone in visita turistica a Castelgrande! Siamo stati accolti come se fossimo di casa. Tutto buonissimo e cucinato con prodotti davvero genuini. E poi la gentilezza e la cortesia hanno arricchito la nostra esperienza super positiva! Lavoro per un tour operator percio' provo moltissimi ristoranti. Il Mizar è assolutamente da consigliare a tutti così come una bella visita del borgo! Grazie a tutti!

01/06/2025: More than a hotel it seemed like a disco.
I advise you, before going to stay overnight, if they have parties banquets or other that same evening otherwise do not sleep.
I had to call the reception twice both times after midnight because the music was too loud, and to top it off around 2 am fireworks.
Terrible service, poor breakfast.

It's located on the main road, so you can quickly reach the nearby cultural highlights:
Melfi, Acerenza, Potenza, Rionera in Vulture, Abbazia San Michele, Venosa, Muro Lucano, Picerno, ...
Very friendly, very nice staff at reception and in the restaurant. They are helpful with any questions.
I felt completely at home during my three-day stay.
