30/03/2026: Re di Macchia is exactly what you hope to find in a Tuscan hill town—an intimate, welcoming trattoria serving traditional dishes with real care.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the hospitality makes the whole experience feel personal. We had a reservation at opening, and had a chance to meet the owner. He was so authentic, and caring, which absolutely came through in the meals.
We had 2 excellent meals. My wife had the mushroom lasagna, and it was excellent—rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. I went with the steak topped with Parmesan, which was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender, with just the right balance of flavor.
This restaurant is a must do for anyone wanting an authentic, high-quality Tuscan food in a welcoming setting.

Excellent service, cozy ambiance and nostalgic food that left us with a smile on our face.
We had the broccoli soufflé, eggplant parmigiana, steak, cannellini beans and tiramisu. Paired it all with a very delicious bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.
Lovely meal at a place worth returning to.

12/10/2025: Welcoming and well-organized location. On a sunny day like the one we just had, it's a worthwhile place, nestled in a totally relaxing square. The service was helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The food was excellent! We each ordered various dishes, which we then sampled... Really good!!! Portions were decent. The price tends to be high for the simplicity of the dish itself... But it's still worth it. The Florentine steak was wonderful!!! You can't miss it.
I recommend it! Excellent place

Good food.
Service...being a small town, everyone knows everyone, including the waiters, and they would start chatting with their acquaintances as they walked past without noticing us. So there were long waits to ask for anything.

23/09/2025: We went to the Tavern to do a tasting of the famous Brunello di Montalcino, a very traditional wine from the Tuscany region.
The atmosphere and service were very good, but the food left something to be desired... but since that was our only option, we ended up eating it anyway, as we wouldn't do a wine tasting without at least putting some food in our stomachs.

05/04/2026: We arrived there in an emergency, having booked 30 minutes in advance, and they welcomed us without any problems. The atmosphere is simple and quiet, but the service is very kind and helpful, and the food and wine (recommended) are excellent.
They even gave us a small discount. We'll be back for a traditional dinner.
08/11/2025: Exceptional grilled Florentine steak. I highly recommend it.

28/07/2025: Quaint and rustic. We were looked after by the personable and very obliging and helpful Ivan. Our visit also included a wine-tasting of biodynamic wines. Perfect for a Steiner educated family 🥰 Morizo was our wine guide who schooled us on Brunello and Rosso. We are absolute philistines and knew nothing about this type of wine. So this added to our southern hemisphere repertoire of Pinot Noir and Barossa valley reds.
