Truly excellent value for money. Being right in the center of Montalcino, I'd highly recommend it. The place isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, but the quality/price ratio is commendable. A positive note also goes to the staff (we were looked after by a young man with a long beard and no hair). Despite being short, I think, at least two members for the day ahead, they managed to handle the large crowd in more or less adequate time and always with courtesy.

We were lucky enough to find the last free table on a Saturday night: the crowds never lie. Special and delicious dishes, a casual atmosphere, friendly staff, and fair prices: the best ingredients for a holiday meal. Try the saffron tripe. Recommended.

Just steps from the Rocca di Montalcino. Traditional Tuscan cuisine. The tagliata steak is a favorite, although you should always ask for the cooking method. The wine cellar is excellent, offering a wide selection of wines by the glass. Good service. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant attracts tourists, especially foreigners.

Eating at the Porta al Cassero restaurant is always a sure thing. It's family-run, offers quality food, impeccable service, and a price that's in keeping with what you eat and drink.

This is a nice sized place (not too big, not too small) with a great menu and friendly and competent service. Extensive wine list (zillions of Brunellos - just like I expect to see in heaven when I die). Food was delicious, especially Bruschete and Pici with Bolognase. Pana Cotta is offered with choice of various toppings (I recommend chocolate AND fruit) and was a perfect coda for this meal.
There is a clear panel in the floor, covering what appears to be an old well. Really cool and interesting. But I couldn't help but think "it's puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again".
