03/06/2026: Intrigued by the name and Chef Enza's creations, we booked a round-trip trip of about 300 km to this restaurant, which offers a sensory experience beyond the limits! The raw fish envelops you with the flavors and aromas of the sea, while I can't even describe the other dishes. I had a revisited cacio e pepe that gave me an immeasurable explosion of flavors in my mouth! Every detail is meticulously crafted, from the professionalism of the waiters to the cleanliness of the restrooms. Everyone was satisfied, even my 3-year-old son, with pasta with tomato sauce, cutlets, and homemade potato chips. In short, if you want to try a culinary experience above the restroom, it's time to try L'ESSENZA! Thank you for everything!

08/07/2026: The expertise, friendliness, and hospitality of the young man who welcomed us and served us expertly from start to finish (even though we hadn't booked) were spectacular. We ordered seafood dishes (including the catch of the day). The raw seafood (oysters, red and white shrimp) was incredibly fresh and rich in flavor without any added ingredients. The seafood risotto was exquisite. The grilled calamari was tender and juicy. All accompanied by an excellent, crisp Chardonnay. To finish, a Jefferson amaro is highly recommended. A relaxing location with an evening breeze and soft background music. Spent much less than expected. What can I say...to remember.

07/07/2026: I've been to the Hermes Restaurant in Policoro several times, and each time has been a confirmation. It's one of those places you'll want to return to because you know you'll eat well. The quality of the ingredients is always high, the dishes are carefully prepared, and the fish is truly excellent. The service also deserves a mention: the staff is courteous, professional, and always attentive to the customer. It's not easy to maintain consistency over time, but Hermes manages it. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with great kindness and courtesy, both by the owner and the entire wait staff, who were always attentive and helpful. The quality of the food was excellent. We started with a rich mixed house antipasto, beautifully presented with fresh and flavorful ingredients. For main courses, we chose fried calamari and grilled octopus: both were exceptional. The calamari was light and crispy, while the octopus was so tender, it literally melted in your mouth. A gesture that particularly struck us was the owner's thoughtfulness towards our daughter: before leaving, he gave her two shells. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant and restrooms, a detail that always makes a difference.

The service was the weakest point of the evening: the waiter got my order wrong on more than one occasion, creating a mix-up that impacted the overall experience. The ambiance also seemed rather basic and lacking attention to detail. Finally, the bill was slightly higher than I expected, especially considering the time of year and the overall quality of the restaurant. It wasn't a bad dinner, but it didn't leave me with the feeling that would make me want to return or recommend it unreservedly.
