06/09/2025: We found this establishment by chance and were so delighted that we returned a second time. A waiter seats you (outdoors only). You choose your meat or skewer inside and order the side dish(es) at your table.
The waiters are attentive.
The value for money is excellent.
The house wine is too. This market square is definitely dedicated to food, and that's a good thing. Don't hesitate!

25/08/2025: For us, it remains our favorite place. A large counter with a wide selection of very fresh meat that you can choose on the spot and it's cooked right away. The interior is spacious and bright, while the outside is a bit cramped, but pleasant. Excellent service and very friendly, helpful staff.
21/08/2025: The meat is amazing and at a great price! From this perspective, La Locanda del Macellaio is highly recommended.
However, I must point out two major problems (which could be largely resolved with the owners' goodwill).
Hygiene. The raw meat (which customers select at the counter before being assigned a table) is handled with bare hands by a person who alternates serving at the counter with every other activity. He touches people, objects, chairs, his own clothes, his own nose, and finally the meat. A whole different level of hygiene is required, and it wouldn't take much.
Second problem: ventilation. The interior is not ventilated at all, and evidently the grill hood doesn't extract air properly. The result: the room was slightly foggy and had a constant smell of smoke.
I reiterate the positive aspects for which, overall, I would recommend La Locanda: quality and price!

10/09/2025: Highly recommended, excellent value for money! Even though you can't reserve, they were very quick; first they order the meat you want and then they seat you at your table. We had the veal strips (excellent) and various flavors of bombette accompanied by potatoes and grilled vegetables.
Everything was excellent and reasonably priced. It would have been perfect to finish with some homemade desserts, but they don't have desserts...

08/09/2025: A traditional restaurant in the center of Carovigno. A charming location, bathed in light in the historic center. Excellent grilled meat dinner. Mimmo and his family made us feel right at home. Tiramisu... unparalleled delicacy. Hospitality and courtesy are unparalleled. Excellent value. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely return to try some other local specialties.
06/09/2025: Very good steak, very good service, a small very well maintained family restaurant. Worth a visit, one of the best we had in Italy.

25/08/2025: I asked to see the receipt (which they should have given you when you present the bill) and found that they were charged €8 for the side dishes, even though the waiter confirmed they were part of the main course. Unable to explain this situation, a discussion ensued, in which they told me they were giving me a discount and taking them off. I'll just describe how things went without comment, but I encourage everyone to check the receipt before paying. I believe transparency is the foundation of a business. I can't publish the receipt because the owner took it from me and tore it up.
19/08/2025: The atmosphere is spectacular, the staff is courteous and helpful. The meat is top-quality and cooked to perfection.

17/08/2025: Nothing to complain about the location; it's cute and informal, but this place, even though it's desolate, has its charm. The meat is very good, and the prices are average for the quantity and quality. The only flaw is the €13 grilled meat, which is paltry in its composition. It's listed as weighing about 400 grams. The capocollo, which wasn't there, must have been a maximum of 150 grams cooked and compensated for by adding a mini-bombetta and a sausage. I'd recommend revising it and making it more substantial. As for the side dishes, the quality/price ratio is exceptional.
15/08/2025: I'm a meat lover, so I wasn't familiar with this place. It was a great surprise. I like the location, it's pleasant. The staff is very friendly, and the food is divine. Finally, a place with zero food miles.
The only downside? They'll close in August and reopen in October. I think they could definitely stay open until the end of September.
A place worth trying, highly recommended.

22/08/2025: Good restaurant in Monopli. Strongly recommend ordering the Cacio e Pepe. It comes in a cheese wheel and is served in front of you. One of the nicest dishes I have tried in Puglia. The calamari and seafood mixture was okay. Not seasoned the best and a little bit dry. But good value nonetheless. Would recommend.
21/08/2025: Just last night. Erased from memory:
Very high prices, €2 more for the whole-grain dough.
Very low-quality and flavorful pizza.
Tomato sauce almost burnt.
Out of four people, three of us left half the pizza on our plates.
Negative experience as far as we're concerned.

25/08/2025: I'm a local and I've tried several grill restaurants. The meat was good, but the prices were excessively high compared to many other restaurants with the same quality of meat. It's a shame.
21/08/2025: Deplorable, the tagliata advertised at 400g turns out to be around 200g, the lamb from second-rate cuts. 50 EUR for two... had we been spotted as tourists?

06/04/2025: Non vedo l’ora di tornare in questo delizioso ristorante di cui mi è piaciuto veramente tutto, dagli antipasti, fra cui un crudo eccezionale e il carpaccio migliore che abbia mai assaggiato, i fritti tutti fatti da loro, il purè di fave meraviglioso, per poi passare ai primi fatti a regola d’arte e alla carne alla brace spettacolare senza tralasciare i dolci della casa davvero ottimi. Servizio attento, gentile, ineccepibile. E non guasta un bagno accogliente e davvero pulito. Bravi tutti dalla sala alla cucina, è un piacere mangiare in un posto che fa ristorazione per passione e non per fare cassa. Consigliato davvero come lo consiglierei ad ogni amico.

15/06/2025: Locale all'aperto con personale veloce e gentile. Si può godere della vista del mare a pochi metri dai tavoli. Sfiziose le bombette. Sono involtini di capocollo tra i 3 e i 5 cm. da mangiare in un sol boccone. Buonissime. Il pane viene servito caldo. Abbiamo preso anche del carpaccio veramente ottimo.
08/05/2025: Direi che essendo praticamente l’unico a fare la carne arrostita a Savelletri, detiene un primate più per esclusività che per merito.
Detto questo carne buonissima, “gnumaredd” eccezionali e bombette squisite. Nonostante Maggio la ressa della gente di domenica sera era davvero tanta, ma hanno fatto di tutto per rispettare i tempi dell’asporto concordato, tardando solo di un quarto d’ora.

28/07/2025: Siamo stati a cena con un gruppo di amici per un compleanno e abbiamo mangiato benissimo!! Crudi ottimi e pesce freschissimo, primi molto buoni e grigliata di pesce anche ottima. Ci hanno anche offerto dei dolci per festeggiare la nostra amica :) servizio rapido e personale gentilissimo, prezzi onesti. Torneremo sicuramente!
07/04/2025: Accueil très agréable. Nous avions commandé du vin et on nous a très gentiment offert des bombettes pour patienter en attendant nos pizzas. Pizzas excellentes à un prix très raisonnable.

23/08/2025: Terrible experience.
After waiting 40 minutes to finally access the terrace, we climbed the stairs and arrived at the table that, theoretically, should have been ours. When we asked for confirmation, the waiter—with an annoyed attitude—began clearing the table and shouting, asking if we were really the expected guests. Eventually, we discovered it wasn't our table, and were moved even higher, unaccompanied, to a dirty table with plates and glasses still uncleared. Only after repeated requests did we get a change of tablecloth and cutlery.
From there, half an hour passed before anyone came to take our order. We asked for bread with oil, but only the bread was brought; after another 20 minutes, oil and salt arrived. The main problem, however, was that our food hadn't arrived. After an hour and a half, I looked out to ask for an explanation, trying not to disturb them because I thought they were very busy, and discovered that our dish had been served to another table. Twenty minutes later, our dishes were finally brought to us, clearly raw and hastily prepared to make up for it.
After a total of two and a half hours, we found ourselves having eaten two raw bombettes. At the cashier, despite everything, we were charged full price.
A truly negative experience: disorganized service, poor food, and unacceptable waiting times. Very expensive for two subpar bombettes. Highly not recommended.
