05/04/2026: Excellent aperitivo with a side of wine. Gorgeous location. Attentive and courteous staff. A highly recommended place for a relaxing moment accompanied by excellent products. It was my first time there, but I'll definitely be back.
29/03/2026: A lousy bar, the owner is truly unfriendly and rude, perfect for those who want to be robbed. Today I had a Messina beer with a glass of wine. As soon as I brought her a colomba cake, it fell on top, and the waiter came to take it back at my request. They brought me a bowl of chips, and at the cashier I was asked for 7 euros.
SAILING THAT colomba cakes are a customer problem.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, EVEN FOR A COFFEE.
I'M SORRY ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL PLACE.

17/04/2026: We had three spritzes, what did they bring us!!? Three measly little bowls, one with four chips, one with a dozen olives and the other with a handful of peanuts, total paid €8😡😡😡😡😡 I can't stand it anymore. And I'm giving it one star precisely because I can't give it less.

11/10/2025: Maurizio was very kind and welcoming. The caponata was the best I've tasted in the Aeolian Islands, and the stuffed squid with sauce was wonderful! Thank you.
05/10/2025: For the owner alone this restaurant is worth a visit. Such a lovely and engaging man, who spoke Italian, English and German with us. The food is delicious and though on the pricier side, portion size and quality justify it. We had the best seafood noodles here. (Sadly I only have a photo of the empty shells)

+ Are you open?
- Yes, of course we are
We sit down, the waiter comes and we order. Few minutes later, he brings the drinks and says:
- "I am sorry guys but I forgot to tell you that we're closing in 30 minutes."
Then, having shots with the employees in front of the customers when they are queueing up is not very professional (secondo mie...)
Expensive as the main street in Taormina, spritz senza amore...
03/11/2025: Cozy little place! BUT 12 euros for a bottle of beer - it must be one of the most expensive in town. It was definitely our most expensive beer on our entire vacation

12/04/2026: 3,5€ for a bagel and a Cornetto I think I got scammed its much cheaper elsewhere.
The waiters seemed nice the boss made the payment processing.
Apparently open until 2 but when I played at 1 the boss was annoyed
09/01/2026: Bar Progresso is an icon of Messina and has always been one of the bars with the best products.
It's surprising to see so many negative reviews, but it doesn't matter. The people of Messina will always have this bar in their hearts, and a few reviews won't undermine their long and excellent work.

24/01/2026: After a delay of more than two hours from the time agreed with Just Eat, the restaurant even misplaced your phone. Unacceptable, you deserve to be kicked off the circuit.
Of course, you can take everything back when you arrive.

10/04/2026: Perfect spot for a coffee and an arancino away from the crowds after our bus tour. Everyone else went to the spot in the main square, we went here. It was sooo good. Very friendly and clean.

The restaurant is run by a lovely old man who doesn't speak English, and honestly, that makes the experience even more authentic.
The waitress is super friendly and speaks English, so everything goes very smoothly.
I had a pizza: incredibly fresh ingredients (which is quite rare in Taormina, in my experience), and frankly… delicious. It's the only place in Taormina where I truly felt like I was having a real, simple, and genuine Italian experience.
And what's more, the prices are very affordable: only €8.50 for the pizza and €3 for the Sprite.
I 100% recommend it if you're looking for something authentic!
17/04/2026: Stay away, I got moldy bread. The food wasn't great either.
