15/06/2025: The building has great potential because it is the only restaurant with a sea view terrace in Varazze. Unfortunately, however, it is really let down, instead of enjoying the view you are attracted by the degradation, the dirt and the squalor. Unfortunately, even the food does not give any satisfaction. We had two pizzas, low quality ingredients so much so that they almost seemed like frozen pizzas and/or from a kebab shop.
I do not usually leave negative reviews, but I hope that this one can help to revalue this location - both outside but especially inside. I also recommend a culinary reinterpretation. It is truly a shame to see that there is no will to make this place exceptional in the center of Varazze.

01/06/2025: Convivial but at the same time gourmet restaurant. Appreciable especially for the panoramic terrace.
We stopped for a dinner of first and second courses and we can only give compliments.
For first courses we can recommend tortellini in broth, green tagliatelle with white rabbit ragù and spaghetti with cicadas and black truffle. For second courses it is absolutely obligatory to try the pigeon and stuffed muscles.
The artisanal focaccia that is finished with a cover charge and a large selection of quality wines are fantastic.
The only criticism I feel like making is related to the coffee that I cannot explain why but it was not good.
Very kind and helpful waiters and good value for money.
Highly recommended!
08/05/2025: Small restaurant in a small and delightful village with a fantastic view of the plain and the coast below. Genuine food and family atmosphere. It is necessary to book to avoid an unnecessary transfer (except to enjoy the beautiful view). Honest prices

14/06/2025: Eravamo stati per caso a maggio del 2024, ci siamo tornati stasera ed è stato nuovamente una piacevole serata..ambiente riservato e tranquillo, cucina di livello ottimo, servizio professionale e cortesia sia da parte delle ragazze di sala sia della titolare veramente eccelsa. A fine serata lo chef e passato a chiedere tavolo x tavolo se tutto era stato di gradimento. Locale che consiglio in toto, bravissimi.

She welcomed us with our one year old daughter and the thing that struck us so much, she entertained the child to make us dine a little more calm, an added value to the place that almost no one ever does..what can I say..thanks for the experience..we will return soon ❤️

Ristorante Il Gambero Rosso
01/06/2025: Great place for lunch in this very crowded CinqueTerre town of Vernazza. The food was delicious, fresh mussels, trofie pasta with pesto sauce and fried anchovies in tomato sauce.
31/05/2025: Gambero Rosso in Vernazza might have the location, but everything else falls apart fast. The staff barely acknowledge guests, offering no welcome and no warmth. The seafood was passable except for the shrimp.
Then came the risotto. It was not just undercooked, it was an insult. Hard, white, chalky grains that crunched between your teeth. Not al dente, not close. It was raw. When we politely questioned it, we were told, without hesitation or care, “this is how it should be.” That statement alone disqualifies them from serving risotto at all.
And then it got worse. Instead of starting fresh, they threw the entire dish-sauce, seafood, and all-into an oven in a sad attempt to recover it. The rice remained raw, the seafood turned rubbery, and the sauce reduced into something nearly inedible from salt and overcooking.
Here is a photo of the risotto after the third attempt. Still raw. You can clearly see the white core, uncooked seed inside the grain.
This was not a mistake in execution. It was a complete lack of understanding, pride, and respect for Italian cuisine. In Italy, no less. Gambero Rosso should not serve risotto until they learn how to cook rice.

31/05/2025: A super cozy, well-decorated restaurant with amazing food, especially if you take a careful look at the menu. The tuna with pistachio crust and the grilled octopus with broccoli are quite something! Same for the cod tempura with butter orange jam!

17/04/2025: For me everything was just what I wanted. Delicious Taglietelle. They left the Parmesan cheese on the table which is important for me. Different breads brought out to accompany my meal and olive oil and balsamic vinegar as standard. I asked for a tailored drink which they provided and I tried pigeon Italian and they tried pigeon English. Lovely atmosphere too. I spent more than usual because o had more than one alcoholic drink.

01/06/2025: My partner and I celebrated his birthday here on April 8th. It was a perfect evening, the tasting menu (we had the full version but there is also a reduced version with a few less courses) is a succession of never banal flavors and unusual combinations, focused on the sea. Each dish is a contemporary work of art, also from an aesthetic point of view. In the dining room we were "pampered" by Beppe who made us feel at ease and explained all the dishes. Very well-stocked cellar. Compliments again to chef Perata, an authentic artist, who had the opportunity to briefly tell us the history of the restaurant, since we asked him, amazed, why it didn't have a Michelin star. He would fully deserve it. A spurcacciuna is a pampering that deserves it.
