15/08/2025: When we arrived, we were greeted by waiters, all male, very kind and attentive. We were seated outside in the garden among the olive trees and other trees. The atmosphere was wonderful, with lights that weren't too bright, but not so low that they risked blocking your view. Great background music, reminiscent of old movies, was just the right volume to allow you to talk without shouting. The temperature was cool compared to the heat these days. I must say the evening was pleasant. Despite there being several tables, no one was shouting, allowing you to talk. We toasted with a nice Prosecco, but you could also have a classic aperitivo. It's a shame the accompanying chips were soaked in oil. I ordered the mixed seafood for two and the risotto, and that's when the trouble began. The mixed seafood was rather bland, well presented, but let's just say it didn't leave a good impression. The risotto was unclassifiable. I don't know what type of grain they used, but some were overcooked and others completely raw. It tasted like a fish broth made with shellfish, with a slight bitter aftertaste. There were plenty of pieces of shellfish and chopped pistachios, but alas, their flavor was overpowered by the broth, which also served as an aroma. We had asked for a profiterole, since it was a birthday dinner, filled with cream, but it arrived filled with cream. Luckily, it was still good and didn't taste like something from a sachet. The others had grilled fish, which was more shellfish-based, good but not epic, and rabbit was good but not exceptional. The mushroom crepes were appreciated, while the Mazzara prawns on spring vegetables were a prawn on bean sprouts that weren't very fresh. Water, wine, and a cover charge completed the meal. All this for the "modest" price of €240. Also, based on the reviews, I was expecting pizza, but there was none. Again, I'd give it 7 stars for the atmosphere and staff, but the food, in my humble opinion, needs a major overhaul.

22/07/2025: A genuine, homey place surrounded by greenery. A local favorite. A restaurant where you know what you're eating and can be sure you'll eat well. The menu features Tuscan antipasto with quality cured meats, a variety of pasta (I recommend the pappardelle) with wild boar, duck, or ragù sauces, and the unmissable fried chicken and rabbit, as well as sliced steaks and mixed grills. The only downside is the wine, which isn't excellent. Price per person for three courses is around €30. I'd say this place is highly recommended.

19/07/2025: A lovely rustic restaurant, excellent Tuscan appetizer with piping hot fried coccoli, delicious. The tagliata was perfect, and the fries were light and generous! There wasn't room for dessert; everything was delicious!

10/08/2025: COMPLETELY NOT RECOMMENDED!: TO BE AVOIDED TOTALLY! There were 9 of us for dinner, with 2 second courses of first courses ordered and it was only enough for half of us forced to have only small tastings, for the second course we ordered: a mixed grill equally INSUFFICIENT MINIMUM with 2 sausages, with a few pieces of steak, small pieces of rosticciane only bone, a small cockerel divided into 4 dry pieces that seemed to be from a few days ago, fried courgette flowers full of oil and French fries similar to the crisps in a bag for appetizers, in any case SORRY BOTH FOR THE VERY HIGH PRICE AND FOR THE BAD IMPRESSION TOWARDS THE GUESTS. STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

01/06/2025: Really great food, super friendly staff. It's the second time we take takeaway from them and the quality/price is truly unbeatable! This time we had problems on the highway and despite the delay they quickly prepared the dishes we ordered. Really fantastic🫶🏻

02/05/2025: I often come to this restaurant, it is one of the best in the place, the dishes are very tasty and plentiful, the waiters and chefs are very kind and put a lot of effort into doing things.

02/08/2025: Arriving late at our vacation spot and a bit tired from the trip, we followed our host's advice and went to dinner at Gli Scugnizzi. We sat on the terrace and ate really well (and in abundance)! The mixed fried fish was tasty, and my son loved the dessert: a cassatina, which he'd never tried before. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere relaxed, and the price reasonable. A good choice for a good dinner!

29/07/2025: We were referred here by a kind gentleman (owner?) from Zimbo Osteria Pizzeria on a Sunday afternoon after driving to several different pizzerias. Pizzas were not available at Zimbo on Sundays but their seafood smelled delicious as we were leaving. The food at Gil Scugnizzi (Margherita pizza, Stracciatella pizza, 4 Stagioni pizza, & linguine ai frutti di mare) was one of the best we’ve eaten on our short trip to Italy. The service was fantastic with a smile and the bright and cheery atmosphere was welcoming. We would love to come back.

27/07/2025: I went there with a friend after he'd already been there several times. He'd spoken highly of it, so I was intrigued and decided to try it with him. I have to say, I was right to trust him! Excellent quality across the board, fast and very clear tablet service, a cute place, and prices for an all-you-can lunch that were truly ridiculous considering how low they are (€21 per person with water). Despite the many Japanese restaurants in Empoli, this is definitely one of the best, if not the best, despite being in an industrial area and not being very trustworthy from the outside. I'll definitely be back, without a doubt.
