21/01/2025: I had the opportunity to have lunch at this restaurant on a Saturday. I have to say it was a truly memorable experience. The restaurant is located in an enchanting position, a stone's throw from the sea, with a relaxing and romantic atmosphere. The staff is extremely kind and professional, offering impeccable service. The menu is full of delicious options, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I tried almost all the starters together with my girlfriend: a riot of truly succulent flavors and the quality of the fish was excellent. As a first course we had a seafood carbonara and ravioli filled with purple potatoes with fish sauce, a culinary surprise in every bite, all accompanied by two glasses of white and rosé wine recommended by the house. We concluded lunch with a tiramisu and an almond paste tart filled with chocolate: the first (served inside a meringue), which personally didn't make me crazy, I would have simply added one as an accompaniment. The second course was served on a coulis of wild berries and was simply delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and with attention to the smallest details, with a Lecce stone ceiling that adds a touch of authenticity. It is the ideal place for a special dinner or to celebrate an important occasion, but also just to indulge in a quiet and elegant meal. In summary, the Underground Fish Restaurant is a great choice for those looking for an unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to go back!

13/01/2025: Castro is wonderful, both the town and the sea. This restaurant was a surprise. Very nice inside, with outdoor seating. We stayed on January 3rd. We only ate a seafood salad which was served as an appetizer with 1 glass of wine. A little expensive €25 out of season, but the location is worth it. I can't imagine the prices in season 😊

04/01/2025: In una location suggestiva, una semplicissima friggitoria per il consumo al tavolo. Cibo buono e ben cucinato, alcune “chicche” della cucina locale, servizio cortese ed accogliente. Raccomandabile

30/12/2024: Take a half day off to come and eat here, grilled fish that has magically transformed into frying...paid as grilled however, bill not in line with what is written on the menu and receipt...seeeeeeee bye. Only those who were in the kitchen were saved because the food was good

16/10/2024: Very nice place, with a terrace on the pretty square in the historic center, view of the sea. Democratic prices, lots of inexpensive snacks. The waiter was very nice, and spoke a little English. Besides, another big thank you to him, who caught up with us in the street to give us my friend's wallet, which had fallen under the table (the wallet, not the friend...)

08/12/2024: Un posticino veramente molto carino, in una buona posizione e arredamento accogliente. Ci sono stata oggi a pranzo, con la mia famiglia (eravamo una 30ina) e ci ha colpiti molto. Gli antipasti erano così buoni che non sono neanche riuscita a fotografarli, però posso dire che erano abbondanti (sia mare che terra), poi Primo e Secondo di pesce ed il dolce. Veramente tutto buonissimo. Mi dispiace solo che i miei parenti sono un po' più grandi e non scrivono recensioni, altrimenti sarebbero state 30 valutazioni, tutte da 5 stelle perché nessuno di noi ha trovato alcuna pecca. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Felici di ritornare

08/12/2024: A really nice little place, in a good location and with cozy decor. I went there for lunch today with my family (there were about 30 of us) and we were very impressed. The starters were so good that I wasn't even able to photograph them, but I can say that they were plentiful (both sea and land), then the first and second courses of fish and the dessert. All really good. I'm just sorry that my relatives are a little older and don't write reviews, otherwise there would have been 30 ratings, all 5 stars because none of us found any flaws. Excellent quality/price ratio. Happy to return

02/01/2025: The reviews I leave are very mixed because nothing to say about the cuisine but disappointment about the rooms. It cannot be presented as a 4-star hotel because there were too many flaws in the rooms: musty smell, problems with hot water, damp and cold walls, air conditioner not always working. The location of the hotel is strategic because it is very close to centers such as Lecce and Galatina which can be reached by bus in half an hour and the view of the sea will leave you spellbound so I'm sorry I wasn't happy with the room service

29/11/2024: Review for the restaurant 1 star only for the view Last Sunday I had guests for lunch and I wanted to spend a couple of quiet hours where I could chat together with quality food So I called to ask if a table for 4 people was available for lunch and I booked Lovely place with wonderful views This is the only positive note of the lunch. Waiters not up to par with how the restaurant is positioned Modest raw fish starter, seafood composed almost exclusively of mussels and little else A first course with salted and cold fish A frozen lemon sorbet that needed a hammer and chisel to taste But the worst thing of the whole lunch was a party organized in the next room with music, songs and more at a disco-worthy volume so loud as to make any conversation impossible, so much so that we had to communicate with each other only by signs. We reported the problem to the waiters, kindly asking them to lower the volume of the noise a little and to close the communication doors with the next room, but in vain. The waiters returned disconsolately without the noise of the village celebration diminishing by a single decibel. At that point we turned to the owners/managers of the restaurant more than once, but we were told that the party had to continue and that we had to adapt. In the end we left disappointed and dazed, but not before paying a 5-star bill for a lunch that wasn't even worth one.
