11/10/2025: Fantastic Stay at Grand Hotel Portovenere! 🌊 I've just had the most magical 3-night stay at the Grand Hotel Portovenere, and I'm already dreaming of going back! This place is an absolute gem, set in a beautifully restored 17th-century convent right on the water's edge. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their kindness and passion for the region truly made our trip special. The food was a highlight every single day. Dining at the Palmaria Restaurant with its stunning panoramic terrace views was an experience in itself. The cuisine was innovative, fresh, and absolutely delicious—a perfect taste of Liguria! Waking up to the view of the colorful harbor and Palmaria Island from our balcony was unforgettable. The hotel's location is perfect, right in the heart of charming Portovenere and with the ferry to the Cinque Terre literally at your doorstep. If you're looking for a luxurious, romantic, and utterly satisfying escape, look no further. I can't recommend this hotel enough!
14/08/2025: An amazing vacation; calling it a hotel is an understatement given the many activities available thanks to the concierge's invaluable advice. We tried the sunset boat excursion with aperitif and an exclusive boat tour of the Cinque Terre. Needless to say, the location is fantastic for visiting the center and the famous church of San Pietro. Close to excellent restaurants, including the Grand Hotel's own: the Palmaria restaurant. The friendly, helpful staff helped make those days and our stay at the Grand Hotel itself a special memory...thanks again!

26/08/2025: A quaint and popular restaurant. We ordered a first course, trofie with pesto, two second courses, swordfish, and a superb grilled fish, along with an excellent bottle of wine and water. The portions were truly generous. The freshness and quality of the ingredients were excellent. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful. The staff was quick and attentive. Prices were in the medium-high range. Be patient if you want to eat outside, as it's always busy. We opted to dine inside and didn't have to wait.

Looking at the photos, I also wanted to add that the beach service, including sun loungers and umbrellas, was also commendable. The manager's excellent service and, of course, the sea, sun ☀️, and beautiful views of this place delighted us and allowed us to enjoy our vacation 🤩.

15/10/2025: Greed at the expense of service quality The restaurant is very famous, pseudo-elegant, and expensive, but people likely continue to frequent it for some reason related to the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the owner's desire to never lose a single customer and to always keep tables full with at least two seats per evening completely negates any positive aspects of the culinary quality, replacing them with total disorganization and a lack of respect for the customers. We had a reservation for four people at 9:30 PM and arrived promptly. When we arrived, the waiter asked us to be patient for about five minutes because they were "slightly struggling." We waited 15 minutes and noticed at least a dozen groups in the alley outside who, like us, had reservations but were still waiting for their tables. When we asked the waiter again how much longer we would have to stand, he replied, visibly out of breath, that it would be about another 15 minutes. This meant we'd start eating at 10:00 PM. We would have preferred to leave, but we decided to wait. Very calmly, every now and then someone from the small groups waiting managed to sit down. After the customary 15 minutes, it was 10:00 PM: none of us were still seated. Inside the restaurant, a few people were eating while 70% of the customers were waiting to be served. We waited another 20 minutes—arriving at 10:20 PM—without anyone leaving their tables. Many customers continued to wait for their dishes. At that point, we decided to leave at 10:30 PM, after an hour of pointless waiting. If a restaurant that claims to be elegant and high-end doesn't have the courage to inform customers that they must vacate their tables by a set time—which is in any case unbecoming of the style of a place of this kind—then it shouldn't accept any more reservations. To the owner, I say: since you're not worried about the risk of empty tables due to selfishness and greed, simply not accepting any more reservations would do your reputation much more credit. I'll conclude by reminding you that I used to frequent this restaurant about thirty years ago, but I stopped going because there were already unpleasant service issues back then that kept me away from there ever since.

04/10/2025: It's easy to rate "A Topia" highly. First of all, the service is attentive, proactive, and discreet. The place is as quaint as a Verezzi osteria should be. The tables are well-positioned. The place settings complement the wooden tables. It's well-lit with warm lighting. Above all, the dishes are spectacular. First of all, the appetizer is beautifully presented and introduces the surprisingly tasty Verezzina red onion with a sauce and a roasted potato cube. My mushroom salad with parmesan shavings is excellent. The pickled anchovies my wife ordered are unforgettable and play a key role in the dinner. The mushroom tart is also delicious. The boiled meat, while flavorful, could be softer. We ordered the first courses: the rabbit-filled tortelloni with sauce are unforgettable. The desserts are unique. The Prescinsú was appreciated for its cheese mousse with basil and mint—a beautiful result. My Verezzina is a bold dessert. It gets top marks. We're happy to have had such a wonderful dinner for our twelfth anniversary. An excellent experience.
16/09/2025: We had dinner, and despite the good service and nice location, the tagliatelle with seafood ragù was truly subpar. The pasta itself was good, but the sauce was very watery and tasted like the pre-made stuff from a jar... For this reason, the quality/price ratio is a bit high...

11/10/2025: The pasta was a poem and priced just right: the trofie with pesto couldn't have been better; the amatriciana were a pleasant surprise with their spicy flavor. We found the main fish dishes okay, but unfortunately no swordfish or grilled sardines – so this was definitely a disappointment for us. We found the grilled vegetables rather modest, with insufficient quantity. The wine (sparkling wine) was to our liking. We found the service good, but not "exceptional." We felt very comfortable in the restaurant; it was chic, cozy, and bright without being garish.
04/10/2025: Update October 2025: Once again, a very good meal and great service. After the renovation, the ambiance is now also great 👍😀 Friendly, attentive service and delicious food. The bright light somewhat dampens the romance.

13/08/2025: Thanks to the advice of an acquaintance we discovered this little pearl in the heart of the gardens of Queen Margherita, the place is enchanting and you can eat both inside for those who suffer from the heat it is highly recommended because it is air conditioned and also outside, the service is fast and the staff is very kind and attentive towards the customers, for those who love pizza there are lots of choices for those who love fish I recommend the imperial spaghetti and the imperial grill they were truly fabulous, the portions are very generous so the advice is not to take too many dishes, don't make my mistake, at the first one I gave up 😅 also ideal choice for children super positive experience we recommend it with all our heart, a super positive note is that it is pet friendly so our dog was not only welcomed but was served and revered

09/09/2025: On our summer holiday travels from the cote d’azur to Lake Como, we wanted to stop for a nice lunch close to the sea. Our meals exceeded that wish. The owner is quite funny and was so patient with my rusty Italian, even though he spoke perfect English. We had fritto misto, which was lightly fried and perfectly salted. We then had three pastas (spaghetti di mare, ink pasta with langoustine, and gamberi with zucchini)and an order of mussels. Every bite was just what we wanted. Our server was so polite and helpful, too. I only wish we were staying in the area so I could have had a rose wine with the meal. I hope our travels bring us back someday!
07/09/2025: A shameful and indecent situation. Following a storm on the beach (which brought a fair amount of logs and trash), the beach club decided to collect everything that had washed up on their section of the beach and empty it with a wheelbarrow onto the adjacent public beach. Once we tried to protest (not in a polite way, it must be said), we were severely verbally attacked by a certain Andrea, who works for the beach club, who continued to insult us throughout the day we spent on the beach, even from a distance. The public property agency will take it away! Inform yourself before you speak, be respectful of the people who work there, and keep quiet. These are the words used; I'll leave aside the (mutual) insults. Given that we don't know when the public property agency will actually remove this waste, it doesn't seem normal to me that it is being dumped directly onto the adjacent public beach. Furthermore, as you can see from the photos, it wasn't even taken to the top, but left directly near the shoreline. At the next storm, if the public property agency doesn't pick it up first, this waste will be scattered all over the beach again! I find this unfortunate and shameful. Just because we're on a public beach doesn't mean we're second-class citizens and can therefore dump all our rubbish—and, I repeat, right next to the shoreline. Despite the disagreement and argument, they continued to take their rubbish to the public beach when it could have been easily piled up anywhere else, or at least decently at the edge of the beach.

01/10/2025: Great place near the waterfront. Delicious food, beautiful sunsets. A mother and son team run the place, which is cute. Opening hours: 7:00 PM.
30/09/2025: I've been there several times now. The food is EXCELLENT, and they always know how to amaze with their daily menu. Ask their advice, but you must try their paccheri with pesto and clams, and the calamarata with tarte tatin! The desserts are homemade by the owner. She, her husband, and their son made every dinner/lunch even more enjoyable. Kind, helpful, and friendly, but above all, they are excellent cooks. <3
