Seafood buffet, risotto as a first course, bluefin tuna and mashed potatoes, panna cotta and dried fruit as a second course, wine and water included.
The salmon was fabulous; we didn't like the tuna because it was too seasoned. Service was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable.

28/02/2026: I went today, Saturday, February 28, for my lunch break. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The service was excellent and fast, especially for an hour's break—perfect. The pizza chef was incredibly friendly and talented; the pizza was amazing!

15/11/2025: This evening we had a wonderful dinner at a fair price!!! We highly recommend it!! Unfortunately, the out-of-the-way location and lack of a clearly visible sign, in my opinion, penalize it!!!
21/10/2025: An unexpected lunch stop on a holiday. The first course, a mille-feuille with cod and arugula, was spectacular but bland; the dessert, on the other hand, was tasty but parsnip, unlike the rather hefty bill.
A quarter of the house white wine was €8.
An unforgettable experience.

01/03/2026: Unfortunately, it's gotten worse in many ways. The atmosphere remains nice, but the service is a bit too improvised, with wait times that are too long even for Trieste standards. The food quality is definitely low. In my case, the tuna tataki tasted rancid and overcooked, perhaps to hide its awful flavor. The worst thing, however, is the handling of this complaint. The waitress, the only one who really puts in the effort, comes back from the kitchen and reports the chef's verdict: "The tuna is fine as it is, but if you want, I'll make you something else." If this is the quality, it's better to say no thanks. The dish was returned to the kitchen as it arrived, obviously at full price. We won't see you again.
21/02/2026: We went there about ten days ago with a friend.
It was a Wednesday evening, and there were no tables in the restaurant except for us.
The guy was polite, although he could use a bit of a raise in his voice.
The food was decent...
The midges at the table ended the evening by keeping us warm.
I'd describe it all as: "I want to, but I can't."
Too bad, we had much higher expectations.

14/12/2025: In December 2024, we were looking for a nice place for dinner and, by pure chance, we discovered "El Fornel." How lucky! We enjoyed fresh, freshly prepared dishes, accompanied by excellent wine and friendly, attentive service. Everything tasted authentically like home cooking, and was truly delicious. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Trieste!

02/02/2026: Unfortunately, a big disappointment.
I ordered a chocolate cake, and it arrived topped with mint - even though I'm allergic to mint. Completely irresponsible and dangerous.
The panna cotta was served with peanut butter, which makes absolutely no sense and ruined the dessert. The flavor combinations are random and thoughtless.
4 such cakes and two espressos, €56
26/01/2026: Decided to drop in for a Cappuccino and a treat. The reason is this place is named after my father Harry.
Anyway, service was excellent, treat delicious, Cappuccino was wonderful. But of course we can't make a habit of it as it's a bit above our price range which we expected. Great relaxing experience.

30/09/2025: During the renovation we were given rooms on the top floor without a lift and still to be renovated under the roof not exactly a nice value to see living and above all paying other people on the lower floors everything was ok maybe we were the unlucky ones and in any case we were not warned of the differences in quality of the rooms by the manager

10/05/2025: Tremendo. Potessi gli darei 0 stelle.
Prezzi super gonfiati per delle pietanze che di qualità potevo ricercare al supermercato . Non sto scherzando. Un'insalata dell' Lidl buttata dentro una ciotola direttamente dalla busta: non condita, con appena un po' di frutta secca. Buoni i gamberetti, ma seriamente 5 di numero x 15 euro? Per non parlare della paella. Mai neppure vista. Appena sedute (siamo arrivate alle 19:10), ci dicono che avremmo dovuto aspettare mezz'ora. E va bene. Aspettiamo aspettiamo e aspettiamo, e alle 20:30, chiediamo della pietanza per due e ci dicono che bisogna aspettare un'altra mezz'ora/40 Min. E il locale era pure semi vuoto. Ora capisco il perché. Ci siamo alzate e siamo andate via. Mai più.
26/04/2025: A very welcoming place in Trieste's historic center. I opted for the Valencian paella with sangria. Excellent selection of ingredients.
