Don't let the size of the restaurant put you off. Especially since it also boasts a wonderful view and is located right on the beach. The location is simply unique! And despite its size, the service is personalized and attentive. Furthermore, there's a top-notch wine selection, and even the house white wine is impressive – it's simply delicious! 01/06/2026: The food wasn't bad, and the location, with its splendid sea view, certainly left a good impression. Unfortunately, however, the service completely ruined the experience. We waited about 45 minutes before we could order, despite no waiter or maître d' approaching our table. After ordering, we had to wait another 45 minutes for our dishes. The most unpleasant thing was that my friend's dish arrived first, while mine wasn't served until about 15 minutes later, effectively forcing us to eat separately. It's a shame, because the food quality is decent and the view is truly breathtaking. However, such long wait times and such careless service management are unacceptable. Overall, unfortunately, I can't give a positive review.

01/06/2026: Terrible value for money. In Rome, for this price, you can eat much, much better. The lovely terrace with a view and fairly efficient service remain.

10/05/2026: Porta di Basso was, quite simply, exceptional. The kind of restaurant that reminds you why certain dining experiences stay with you long after the evening ends. Set dramatically above the Adriatic, the atmosphere is breathtaking from the moment you arrive. As the light softened over the sea and the cliffs below, the entire evening felt almost cinematic — elegant, intimate and deeply connected to the landscape of Gargano. The cuisine was outstanding. Creative yet restrained, refined without losing soul. Every dish felt thoughtful, beautifully balanced and deeply rooted in the territory while still carrying the confidence of true fine dining. One of those rare tasting experiences where every course genuinely surprises and delights. What elevated the evening even further however was the extraordinary service. Warm, polished, passionate and incredibly attentive without ever becoming formal or stiff. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcomed and carefully looked after throughout the night. Porta di Basso is not simply a restaurant — it is a destination experience. A place where setting, cuisine and hospitality align perfectly. Without doubt one of the most memorable dining experiences we have had in Italy.

20/05/2026: A truly excellent takeout place: clean, well-maintained, and run with great passion by Marco, a delightful and welcoming person. We immediately felt at ease thanks to the friendly staff. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients every day, generous portions, and authentic flavor. Excellent quality at a more than fair price. Perfect for a quick but tasty lunch just steps from the Manfredonia seafront. Recommended. August 2025

09/06/2026: Beautiful hotel, very friendly service. Good breakfast, lovely view as the hotel is located at the top of the mountain, parking available, beach is about a 10-minute walk away. The beach is pebbly, but it's manageable.

02/07/2026: We stopped by on the last day before closing time, and some dishes weren't available. The orecchiette were good, and the pizzas are good, but they raised a bit of concern about the way the tomato is placed (raw, sliced, on top of the pizza). The dough wasn't particularly light.

29/06/2026: We came a day before the restaurant closed for the holidays. Some ingredients were missing, but since the restaurant was busy, the very kind waitress Michela was promptly informed. She came to our table several times to check on the problem, with a polite, professional manner, and always with a valid alternative to offer. In a "different" situation than usual, a smile and polite manner when highlighting a problem makes all the difference. Congratulations, we'll definitely be back. :)

09/06/2026: Nice but where did they give us the umbrella spot? The sand wasn't yet as fine as in the rest of the beach.

08/06/2026: Extremely slow staff; they were supposedly out of bread at 3 pm to make bruschetta. I ordered fried sardines with chips, but French fries arrived, and then they were out of sardines too. Strange beach bar.

19/10/2025: We are staying not far from Donna Maria and were looking for something nice for dinner. We found just what we were looking for. The bread seems to be a house made loaf which is a pleasant change from some who just drop some rando bread in a basket on the table. This bread is good quality. We began with beef carppacio which was delicious, especially the olive paste which provided a natural salty component. My wife had gnocchi with lamb ragu and I enjoyed the mezzi ziti with a rich beef sauce. Both just wonderful dishes. Especially with Negroamaro to pair with. We finished with a Crema di ricotta pugliese dessert that's a regional favorite. It was a wonderful meal and the staff were professional and friendly.

11/05/2026: Sale e Pepe Restaurant is one of those quiet restaurants where service is warm and friendly; it's definitely a good choice for those seeking a quiet meal. The menu balances traditional and innovative, offering traditional dishes adapted to the concept of a fine-dining restaurant. The restaurant also offers a daily menu (with two dishes) to offer regulars a bit of novelty and variety. The service is meticulously maintained by the waiters, especially the Maître d', who resolves any issues with extreme professionalism and speed.

09/05/2026: I had an appetizer of 6 mozzarella balls with eggplant and shrimp tartare: microscopic, frozen mozzarella balls, no discernible flavor. The first course was bavette with mullet bottarga: the pasta was very good, but the sauce was undetectable. The dessert was: cream puffs with dark chocolate ganache; on the plate, a ball of shortcrust pastry covered in icing... this too was tasteless. In short, a pretentious, expensive place, with food far below the price and expectations!

27/03/2026: Osteria del grano arso is an incredible choice in Foggia. The orecchiette pugliese di grano arso, the papardelle aI funghi freschi and the pasta fresca alle verdure o legumi keep the best flavour of the most authentic Italian cuisine. Besides, their tiramisú is the best we have ever tasted. Its smoothness fascinated us. In the background the owner playing the Spanish guitar delighted us. This osteria is a must in Foggia!!

03/04/2026: A very welcoming, clean hotel in an excellent location, allowing you to easily reach the Sanctuary on foot. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I recommend this hotel for short or long stays.
