The restaurant offers food that is well below average.
You are forced to eat from a very limited selection (4 appetizers, 2 main courses, and 1 dessert) and you must eat at the times they dictate: lunch from 12:30–14:00 and dinner from 19:30–21:00. So if you don’t eat exactly at those times, you’ll have to adjust. Also, if you’re used to enjoying a glass of wine and sitting longer, that won’t be possible.
They present themselves as an authentic, non-commercial fish restaurant, but that has nothing to do with what you actually get. For starters, you can choose either one small appetizer or a mix of all of them. Hardly anything is edible except the pâté. For the main course, you can choose risotto or fish. If you want risotto, you must order two portions (which is completely absurd) or go with fish. Meaning, if one of you wants risotto and the other wants fish, that’s not allowed. The risotto is far below average, basically just plain rice. The fish (the reason you came) is one of the worst we’ve had—fried in oil, greasy, and served without any garnish or sauce. They don’t even provide a lemon. The story about the fish being fresh from the lake is very weak, as everyone is served the exact same size fish (a whole fish, not fillets), which in the best case means it’s farmed, not caught. Dessert is crushed ice with artificial lemon flavor.
All in all, the food is very poor. The only reason we gave two stars instead of one is because the staff was friendly. Of course, you’ll pay handsomely for this: dinner for two comes to about €85 plus drinks.

07/09/2025: They advertise on their website that they offer take away pizza, and when we went to order in person, we got told no. The waiter was rude and dismissive. You shouldn't advertise something you don't offer.

09/09/2025: A hotel with a fantastic location, close to the center of Bellagio, about a 15-minute walk away. The view from the room and from the breakfast area is wonderful. The rooms are clean. The staff is also very friendly. Marta and Agnieszka were very helpful, not only with hotel-related issues but also with organizing trips around the lake and other nearby towns. After making a reservation at one of their restaurants, the hotel owner arranges free transportation to and from the restaurant, which is also a plus. We highly recommend it.

My empty glass was removed from the table but noone asked if I wanted another drink (... I did...)
Food was delicious, tasty, but definitely over priced. Preferred restaurant Barchetta for the pasta quality and half the price. No complaints with food quality- very fresh.
Atmosphere was busy and bustling but felt very entitled and think we were just overlooked because we werent spending hundreds on wine.
Overall a nice evening, but nothing special. Definitely would not come back.

13/10/2025: Trattoria San Giacomo is the place you find yourself at after you’ve failed to make dinner reservations elsewhere.
The wait isn’t too bad. You are in the prettiest part of Bellagio and they offer pillows that you can sit down on as you wait on the stairs. They try their best to accommodate everyone and the staff is very communicative about timing.
The food is not great. Perhaps some dishes are good, but overall not great. I decided to keep it simple—I ordered the pasta dish of the day which was a mushroom pasta and the fresh ricotta and spinach ravioli in sage and butter sauce. The pasta dish with mushrooms was so bad that I had them replace it, which they were kind enough to do with no charge. The mushrooms were boiled, tasteless and soggy. The pasta was served with the boiling water it came with, or that’s what I’m assuming as it was clear and bland. The ricotta ravioli on the other hand was good. Good, but not great.
This is definitely a restaurant catered to tourists, which is fine. You’re just not going to have a fantastic meal here.
11/10/2025: We waited in line 45 minutes before they opened as you have to or you won’t get a spot, no reservations accepted. They have cushions you can crab and sit on the steps. Inside they play older American music loudly. Wish they had Italian music, would make for a better ambiance.
After we were seated inside a little after 7pm it took 15 minutes to take our drink orders then another 15-20 minutes to get our water and coke delivered. We ordered the salad and soup of the day which were fine after we doused them with salt. We ordered the Osso Buco di Vitelo and the Tagliolini with meat sauce. Both were very bland and had no taste, had to douse them with salt. The beef shank was soft and tasted good after seasoning. The pasta was below average even after seasoning, barely any sauce or meat.
Over all disappointed with the experience-this is a very hyped up place and not worth the hoops you have to jump through and time to get in here. We hoped for a better experience, but will not be coming back.

26/08/2025: I ate at the Albiro restaurant in Bellagio and was very impressed overall.
The menu (five courses) was outstanding, the quality of the food absolutely top-notch. I would particularly like to highlight the service: attentive, warm, and professional. The wine pairing by the sommelier was an experience in itself – something you don't get every day.
Why "only" four stars?
We enjoyed two bottles of wine during the meal, and at the end I asked if I could get a bottle to take away at a better price. I knew in advance that the same wine costs around €30 in stores. However, in the restaurant, it would cost the same price to take away as it would have if served at the table – namely €115. This disappointed me, because restaurants usually give a fairer price for takeaway, since there's no service included. Unfortunately, this felt inflexible and a bit rude.
All in all, it was still a great evening with fantastic food and service – I just wish they had been more accommodating with the wine policy.

14/10/2025: Last meal of three week trip and it was disappointing. Pasta was good but small serving (first in three weeks) had us wishing we had ordered 3 courses. Tiramisu okay as excessive rum soaked lady fingers. Crème Brûlée did not have the top of hardened caramelised sugar, but rather a semi crystallised topping (inedible) that had not hardened when heated. The liqueur used to get the flame affect when served was excessive and infused the custard and altered the flavour. Staff were brusque and obviously turning tables ASAP.
13/10/2025: Best food in Bellagio! 5 stars, no notes.

01/10/2025: We dined here for eight nights, due to the lovely food, friendly hosts. Tonight was our last night as we're flying home tomorrow. We are sad to leave our "go to" restaurant but we are grateful for the wonderful service and delicious food. When we return to Bellagio you will be the first to know!! Grazie

27/09/2025: We arrived at 2:30 p.m. and were rushed into our order. They gave us an open bottle of water when every table had a lid, so it was tap water.
We ordered a grilled meat platter, and the waiter asked us what we wanted as a side dish, which they charged us separately. They charge for cutlery, which wouldn't bother me if the food was good quality; the lasagna didn't seem that way.
One of the waiters just looked at us with a sour face. If he doesn't like his job, he should have studied.

09/09/2025: I must say that despite the less than stellar reviews, we ate well. Recommended by the staff, we had three delicious fish-based first courses (some fresh, some frozen), two fried calamari and shrimp dishes (frozen but good), well-fried, crispy, and not greasy, and a roast swordfish and shrimp. Three excellent, freshly made tiramisu concluded the meal. The wine was good, and the staff was friendly. I highly recommend it.
08/09/2025: For a few years now, we have been regularly frequenting this lovely place during our holidays in Salento. Good food, good service, and excellent value for money, both for a pizzeria and a restaurant. All of this is often accompanied by background music, which is always a plus. I highly recommend it!

29/09/2025: I’ve made better food at home. Food was bland and looked/tasted premade and reheated. They also charge you for bread that they bring to the table without asking. Would not go back. Do not recommend.
Edit: the bread is in fine print on the menu that they give you AFTER it was already served at the table. Just another way they try to take an extra few euros. Overall overpriced and not good, do not get trapped here.

08/09/2025: Shocking service, there was duck poop on the tablecloth and when asking the staff to change the tablecloth, it was like I asked her for her first born son. Then the food, tasteless and not fresh. The "home made" Lasagna had just come out of the microwave. For a beautiful location and island, the food and service was the complete opposite.
17/08/2025: Food is not bad but is far from good. Chocolate cake with vanila ice cream looked like grocery store bought choko muffin. Yes, terrace and lake view are nice but not worth it.

28/09/2025: We arrived and everything was closed. There's no signpost for the entrance, and no one at reception at any time. The air conditioning doesn't provide heat; it's very cold, with no blankets or shower gel. The wood and doors squeak a lot.
The TV and the bed are particularly noteworthy.
25/09/2025: Went here for a visit to Bellagio.
Old beautiful house.
One can feel like in a fairy tail.
Got a room with view to the mountains. Wonderful!
