However the toilets have no seats. Coming from Canada that's a little weird. But I recommend the eggplant pasta Parmigiano

04/02/2025: Sono stato recentemente in questo ristorante e devo dire che l'esperienza è stata eccezionale sotto ogni aspetto. Prima di tutto, l'accoglienza è stata molto calorosa a partire dal cameriere antonio simpaticissimo che ci accoglie sempre calorosamente e il personale si è dimostrato professionale e attento.
sono stato in questo ristorante con la mia famiglia abbiamo mangiato benissimo. Ci siamo presi come antipasto il capriccio di mare tutta a base di pesce e devo dire che era spettacolare come primo ci siamo presi lo spaghettone con la crema di melanzana e taralli sbriciolati sopra tutto eccezionale, davvero ci ritornerò sicuramente.
02/01/2025: Not recommended!
After spending 10 min on choosing our meals from menu and making decision, waiter came and said that pizza is not available (he could do it at the beginning). But they do it by purpose (he did the same thing to other clients next to us).
After ordering pastas, a few minutes later waiter came and asked if cook can change type of our pastas...
Food was below average and didn't contain specific ingredients indicated in menu. (Again, clients next to us also asked where is main ingredient in their meal!).
Price way tooooo high compering to service and food.

19/02/2025: On Saturday evening we went to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary, a dinner that I had been planning since December after seeing the beautiful photos on their Instagram page.
The evening started well: good starter tartare and wine up to par. Then came the main course, and this is where everything fell apart. We had ordered a steak, asking for it to be rare (medium-rare), but it arrived overcooked. Not only was it fully cooked, but the quality of the meat also left a lot to be desired. Inedible.
When the owner (I assume it was him) came by to ask how dinner was going, we answered honestly. The meat wasn't good, but his reaction? Nothing. No offer to change it, no offer of an alternative or to remove anything from the bill. Why ask if you aren't willing to do anything?
At that point we ordered dessert, a chocolate cake. It was frozen, barely warm on the outside and hard on the inside. We had to press with the spoon to get something to come out of the center.
No discount was made on the bill, not even the slightest gesture of apology. At the checkout only generic excuses ("the chef, this and that") which don't change anything.
I'm sorry to say, but this experience ruined our evening. I will never return and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. A self-respecting restaurant should know how to fix mistakes and pay attention to the customer.
I hope that the 100 euros between you and me made you rich, because I imagine that replacing the meat would have meant going out of business. I wish you much success!
16/02/2025: What a disappointment! The steak we were served was an absolute disaster in every way.
First, the quality of the meat was decidedly poor. You could see and feel that it was not a premium cut, but rather a cheap, low-quality piece of meat.
The cooking was completely wrong. The meat had been mistreated in the kitchen, resulting in it being overcooked and dry. It totally lacked that succulence and that pink color in the center that characterize a properly cooked steak.
But the most serious problem was the total absence of seasoning. A good steak should be generously sprinkled with coarse salt before cooking. Salt not only enhances the flavor of the meat, but it also helps create that delicious crust on the outside during cooking. Instead they brought us a steak that was completely bland and had no flavour.
As if that wasn't enough, they offered us some fine salt to add ourselves at the table. A true sacrilege! Fine salt is absolutely not suitable for seasoning a steak. It's too fine and melts immediately, making it impossible to get that nice crunchiness of coarse salt crystals.
This experience demonstrates a total lack of seriousness and professionalism on the part of the restaurant. Not only did they serve a poor quality dish at an exorbitant price, but they also ignored obvious signs of customer dissatisfaction.
It's painful to see a pound of meat (however poorly prepared) end up in the garbage. A serious restaurant would have noticed the problem and proposed a solution, such as preparing a new dish or offering a discount.
In short, this steak failed across the board: poor meat, incorrect cooking and non-existent seasoning. A culinary experience to forget as soon as possible.

11/10/2024: The service was very nice and attentive, the starter was very tasty. However, the main course was literally swimming in oil and the pizza tasted very salty, but the dough was good. I asked for basil for my pizza..it was infested with insects :(

24/02/2025: Ristorante molto carino...abbiamo scelto il menù alla carta dall'antipasto al dolce.
È stato tutto di nostro gradimento..peccato per i ravioli dove la riduzione di porcini sovrastava gli altri ingredienti e il pesce spada un pó asciutto...nel complesso ottimi piatti. Consigliato. Ritorneremo per assaggiare le altre preparazioni.

29/10/2024: the restaurateur recommended a cuttlefish ink rice that he was preparing for himself (I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT I FOUND AN IRON WIRE DOWN IN THE RICE AND HE JUSTIFIED ITSELF BY SAYING THAT IT WAS THE NET FOR FISHING THE CUTTLEFISH, IT CAN HAPPEN BUT YOU DO NOT PAY FOR THE DISH IF YOU ARE THE PROFESSIONAL) where there were two or three pieces of cuttlefish and also hard to chew. The first courses on the menu cost an average of 15 euros, and the rice, despite the unpleasant setback, cost me 22 euros. I rarely give negative reviews, but this restaurateur deserves to be known for what I have said

07/03/2025: Sono stata a cena in questo ristorantino nel centro storico di tropea con mio marito a Settembre.
Gia dall'antipasto abbiamo intuito la passione e la cura nella preparazione dei piatti: pesce freschissimo, sapori mediterranei autentici, presentazione ottima.
A seguire due squisiti primi piatti consigliati dalla signora gaia, scelta azzeccatissima!
Per il dolce non avevamo più spazio, amaro offerto dalla casa e conto onestissimo!
Se abitassimo a tropea sarebbe sicuramente un punto di riferimento.. un grazie particolare alla simpatia e alla gentilezza della signora gaia!

01/03/2025: Ottimo ristorante nel centro storico di Tropea. Tavolata di 8 amici, siamo rimasti tutti soddisfatti dei piatti che la proprietaria ci ha consigliato. Ottima la materia prima, pesce freschissimo, eccellenti i paccheri con il sugo di pesce spada. Ritorneremo senz'altro in questo delizioso ristorante. Proprietari molto gentili e cordiali. Top!!!!!

30/09/2024: Ottimo cibo prezzi contenuti ambiente familiare. Abbiamo scelto questo posto proprio per l'idea di trattoria che ci ha dato dalle foto delle altre recensioni. Carne eccellente e salumi di qualità. Abbiamo visto passare delle pizze niente male ma eravamo per il ristorante. Abbiamo pagato circa 50 euro in tre poco considerando l abbondanza dei piatti e la qualità. Consigliatissimo

05/12/2024: Caution!!! There have already been a few guests like us! The old leftover from the end of the season from the frozen food is obviously used here... we were unlucky at first because we were there after the winter, so everything was even older... FOOD POISONING!!! We hadn't eaten anything else beforehand, so we could only get from the fish platter, as my husband was sick to his stomach shortly afterwards or until everything was out again! I hadn't eaten the smelly seafood/fish and had no such problems... and something like that at the sea where you could get fresh fish every day... a shame, the one-day tourists are just being ripped off here... me I had previously given 5* for the service, which I now had to correct because the owner gives such unprofessional feedback... there are also reviews where the bad food was complained about on site and the light received an okay answer!!! Then why bother and be in a bad mood? The nausea started shortly afterwards when we left the restaurant and unfortunately we had already paid...
Original: Fish platter was terrible, everything was "fishy" and was by no means fresh, but at that moment you are perplexed and eat it anyway, afterwards nice presents at home => food poisoning!
The spaghetti carbonara was also bland, and I cook it 100x better at home... but almost everyone can probably do it better. 2 dishes + 2 drinks = 55€ = if it was fresh and tasted good it wouldn't be expensive + food poisoning is free! Where do the good reviews come from? A mystery...
15/10/2024: The landlady and waitress were very nice, the wine and grappa were excellent, the music was good, but unfortunately that was about it for the positive experiences.
The seafood salad, the daily recommendation, was tiny and poorly prepared, the beef fillet was definitely not beef, or was so old that it had no taste and a completely different consistency, and the homemade noodles, again the daily recommendation, were boring.
All of this for €95 for two people is frankly a disgrace.
I'm sorry for the young, dedicated landlady, but either she has different cooks on different days (that's the only way I can explain the very good reviews) or at the end of the season all the leftovers from the freezer are used up...
So we definitely won't come again

05/03/2025: Great location, elegant table setting, nothing to be faulted about the food. We ordered seafood: grilled swordfish, grilled local fish (this is how it appears on the menu, without specifying the species) and shrimps. A good Italian school of seafood preparation.
We also ordered local wine in a carafe - usually home-made, local wines are a bit less sophisticated, and here it was very good.
05/03/2025: We ordered a risoto with seafood and it was not what we expected. More than anything it was not risotto, but rice boiled in a salty broth that was not creamy.

19/10/2024: This evening, the first time in this place, with super guest Samuel Malvaso we had an excellent dinner, to say the least, friendly and welcoming owner and staff in an environment that feels like "home".
Highly recommended for the brick chicken and its super potatoes..
Pleasant pizza with excellent ingredients.
