It's an intimate, family-run establishment in a 19th-century style—as the name suggests—focused on the quality of the food and excellent service rather than the number of customers; so reservations 📞 are highly recommended. The local specialties were perfect: from the spaghetti alla Dolce Amatrice 🍝 to the dessert, the Cupola d'Ascoli 🧁, filled with the iconic Anisetta 🍾. The meat dishes are also excellent, with refined options like the lamb stew 🥩 and pork cheek 🥓 seasoned with balsamic onions 🧅, accompanied by standard vegetable side dishes... 🥔🍆🍅 The only negative: the spaghetti was too al dente! I recommend not cooking them as long as strictly necessary ⏲️, since the pasta is already tending towards the tough side... The sauce, I repeat, is "the best", but it took a set of teeth 🦷🦷 still as firm as ours to chew them. The waiting times were completely tolerable despite the crowd, so a few extra minutes won't spoil the pleasure of enjoying perfectly cooked pasta... 😊

08/07/2026: The food and the location absolutely deserve 5 stars. Original decor and sayings, delicious antipasti and main courses, good explanations. So why 1 star? Unfortunately, we ordered a carafe of wine that was placed on the table in a chilled bag with ice. This bag was unstable and suddenly tipped over. Conclusion: wine on my handbag and phone, and everything inside had to be cleaned up on the floor, leaving barely half a glass of wine in the carafe. No one offered to bring another carafe, and the full price was charged. It is not about the 7 euros, but about the fact that you dine in such a beautiful location and are then treated without the appropriate approach from someone working in the hospitality industry. A shame, because the food was really good. A shame that things were not handled correctly, because this ruined the rest of the afternoon.

10/05/2026: All the dishes were excellent, exquisite to say the least. The appetizers were delicious, the meat exceptional. But what struck me most was the kindness, friendliness, and cordiality of the owner. The girls in the dining room were truly excellent. Congratulations to everyone, you are a true asset and a source of pride for Ascoli Piceno.

21/03/2026: I hadn't been back to the Locanda for a while, and I must say with immense pleasure that I had a fantastic meal. A selection of superb appetizers, especially the caponata (which isn't as good as it used to be in Sicily), and for the main course, a fantastic peppered fillet steak. My heartfelt compliments, the chef confirms his place among the best in Ascoli Piceno. Go there!

25/04/2026: I had dinner last night with my husband and young daughter at this trattoria, and I have to say we had a great time. From the warm, family-like welcome we love, to the food, which was all delicious (the Ascoli olives were excellent, the tripe and lentils, the well-balanced orecchiette with broccoli first course, and a delicious warm potato cake). The quality/price ratio was also excellent. Highly recommended.

02/05/2026: Where else can you get authentic carbonara soup with pecorino and guanciale? ❤️ The grilled filet is also perfect. The wine selection is sensational and reasonably priced. And the view is perfect! The service is very attentive!

01/05/2026: What a wonderful, wonderful place. The wines are of course excellent, the small plates which are locally inspired, rustic sophistication and absolutely delicious are a revelation. Kind a knowledgeable service, excellent prices. One if the happiest and most satisfying experiences we have had on our many trips to Italy. Oh Paris...you have so much to learn! Or maybe this delightful team could just open up a Parisian branch?....Grazie mille.

12/02/2026: My favorite comfort zone... amazing tartare with chips, superb "incaciati," top-notch stew, and incredibly dry frittini... too few :-) and the wine list is always top-notch!!! I love this place. It has a magical atmosphere that always makes good things happen... in addition to the spot-on menu options, the top-notch beer, and the killer playlist!!!
