30/01/2026: A delightful discovery! This little restaurant is located in a pedestrian zone in Ventimille, where we had already tried other establishments. The Hanbury Bistrot is very pleasant, with tasteful decor and a friendly welcome. The cuisine and flavors are a bit out of the ordinary and stand out from the classic menus of Italian restaurants. The small fried calamari and vegetables were both crispy and tender in a light tempura-style batter. The gnocchi with lamb ragù were also very tender. A minor disappointment was the dessert: crepes with mandarin cream and white chocolate. Unfortunately, there was only one tiny crepe, and it was served cold. The mandarin cream was good, but the portion was far too small. The chocolate fondant at the next table seemed to be a larger portion. We will nevertheless gladly return.

12/10/2025: After the festival, we went to this pizzeria. It was old and outdated, to say the least, and very, very basic. However, after reading the reviews, we trusted it. BUT, we were wrong; they brought us reheated fries. The pizza was worse, toasty, and the toppings were very poor. Those of us who had this experience can honestly say we've never had such a bad pizza. We think this pizzeria could go out of business. I won't say anything else.

11/11/2025: Restaurant service was too slow, the staff were untrained but friendly, the food was disappointing: poor quality, with frozen fries and vegetables consisting of just two slices of eggplant, overcooked and unsalted sea bream, and no appetizers (which is typical in Italy). It's a shame because this establishment was very good under the previous owners.

27/10/2025: A pleasant restaurant located on a newly renovated, quiet square on the plateau of the old town with a stunning view of the harbor. It's a lovely place to relax in the sun on the concrete benches. Accessible on foot through the beautiful alleys of the old town or by elevator, which ascends through the car and pedestrian tunnel beneath the old town. We originally only wanted a drink, but then decided to have a bite to eat: grilled anchovies and grilled vegetables. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Friendly service, and an authentic chef who came to our table for a brief chat.

30/07/2025: À fuir absolument. Endroit sale, ambiance désagréable. Ma fille a accidentellement sali une fourchette en jouant avec un bonbon fructis , et la responsable a refusé de la garder après , sous prétexte que ce n’était « pas son problème et que un enfant de 3 ans fais pas ça »… Résultat : elle m’a fait payer la fourchette et le couteau Et j’ai payer plus qu’il fallait ((( Comme si ça ne suffisait pas, elle nous a aussi facturé 5€ par personne pour les couverts, ce qui n’était indiqué nulle part. Et au moment de payer, c’était encore pire : je voulais régler en espèces, mon amie en carte, et là, la gérante a littéralement fait un scandale, refusant qu’on paie séparément. Franchement, j’ai voyagé dans pas mal de pays, mais je n’ai jamais vu un service aussi désagréable et irrespectueux. Très mal accueillis, aucune flexibilité, aucune politesse. Le seul point positif ? C’est proche de la gare. Mais franchement, même gratuit, je n’y retournerais pas.

07/01/2026: My true vacation begins right here in this typical Ventimiglia bar, where I have so many memories. My break is very simple: I always order the usual ritual dish: well-prepared fusulli with ragù. These are every bit as good as the traditional pasta dishes found in local trattorias. Next up are the local focaccias. In the absence of the infamous "piscitella," I opted for tomato focaccias, which are always tempting; their preparation is always something special. Lunch was accompanied by a bottle of still water, and everything ended with a good coffee. Needless to say... and on to the next "starting point." An experience I highly recommend trying.

14/12/2025: If I could, I'd give it 0 stars. After explaining that our pasta was soggy and sour, the (old) waiter lectured us about having to specify that we had to say when ordering that we wanted the pasta al dente, and that the order was in French, so obviously we had to eat like the French do. The bill was brought to us anyway, with only one pasta dish removed, even though we hadn't eaten a single bit of it. ABSOLUTELY AVOID.

23/11/2025: McDrive is also open late at night until 3:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. No restaurant, just McDrive. We dined around 1:30 AM. The location is convenient, but the crispy fries were completely without sauce and half raw. Friendly and helpful staff, fast service.

03/09/2025: On a family vacation in Monaco, we went for a stroll in Ventimiglia. Since this restaurant is next to the train station, it was only natural that we went there for lunch upon arrival. Huge disappointment. Although the woman who served us was very kind, the service was extremely slow (more than 30 minutes to receive our food when the restaurant was almost empty), and two out of three dishes were really not good and gave the impression of being nothing more than low-end frozen food. In short, for the price we paid (over €70), you can find much better.
