23/12/2025: You're hungry! Don't go! Monday lunch special, December 22, 2025: Two tiny portions of lasagna with no meat to speak of, plus one bottle of sparkling water (no coffee) = €32. Judging by the taste, we wondered if it was homemade. If you want to enjoy the view, why not, but the service was mediocre. We were disappointed.

01/10/2025: Judging by the over-whelming review responses so far being combative rather than accepting, I did wonder if it were worth writing this. After all, isn’t one positive aspect of an honest review being that those responsible for the establishment can improve? I visited with my husband - one night stay. First things first, acknowledgment where it is due, the owners/people at this establishment are lovely and are intent on giving good service. All are very friendly and courteous -but other than this element, I’m afraid I’m at a loss as to why many other reviews are so at odds with our own recent experience. The views, of course, are absolutely stunning ….. but when that’s been said, nothing else is anywhere close to acceptable, let alone impressive. It’s obvious that the picture-book location is expected to deflect any and all expectations of comfort. There really is precious little. Please don’t expect that the photos were taken this side of the millennium, and at that fast-receding point in time, the decoration and facilities were more than likely passable - but having clearly had zero investment in the fabric since, it has become tired and massively past its sell-by date and in dire need of maintenance on a grand scale. It has to be said, however, that as some buildings fall into decrepitude, they become oddly iconic. Perhaps this is a case in point….. but be warned, don’t expect anything less than an authentic Adam’s Family mansion experience complete with incredible, breath-taking views.

21/09/2025: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel La Riserva di Castel d'Appio. The place is full of charm, the view is magnificent, and the setting is very relaxing. The staff is charming and efficient, whether at reception, at breakfast, or in the restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and the food is of high quality. We will gladly return!

01/03/2026: It's always a pleasure to come and drink a cappuccino with a small slice of tiramisu at Gran Caffè when you come shopping in Ventimiglia.

15/02/2026: I was surprised to see that all the other tables that arrived at the same time as me, and who didn't order any more than I did, received chips and mini pizza slices as soon as they arrived, but nothing else. So either this establishment doesn't want women dining alone, or my appearance was a problem. I was in doubt for the first time in my life this lunchtime. Please excuse me for not coming with other people and for only spending around 20 euros. Next time I'll know that you give chips to certain people and not to women dining alone. Tables weren't clean. Service was slow, but you just have to get their attention... I paid 20 euros and some change for a Coke, a coffee, a plate of eggplant parmesan, and tiramisu. The tiramisu was soggy, not fresh. Probably several days old. The toilets were like a pigsty. A little cleaning wouldn't hurt.

21/05/2025: Locale pulito... Personale gentile e accogliente. Piatti super buoni. I tacos di tonno ne avrei mangiati 10. Paccheri ai gamberi deliziosi. Esperienza da ripetere. Soldi ben spesi. (Erano troppo buoni e nella foto ne rimane solo 1 dei 2) Non ho resistito

19/09/2025: My family and I were there a long time ago, and I avoided writing a review, even though the girl who worked there before was cold, rude, and indifferent, always on the phone, and above all, uninterested (in fact, no one came in the entire time we were there)! We went back again, and luckily there was a nice gentleman there, but the rest hasn't changed: Focaccia you could throw against the walls, customers (presumably regulars) who come in and dominate, shouting. The place is too small (a corridor with two tables and four chairs), and crumbs on the floor (probably from the morning). Never again, and I'm surprised by all these positive reviews (probably from regulars).

As a retired chef, I tend to notice the details. I had the pinse-style pizza and breaded anchovies. While the presentation was fine, it was clear the anchovies came straight from the freezer to the fryer or oven. The dough had that classic Roman-style crispness, but lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from a well-fermented base. Other guests were enjoying pasta dishes that looked well-prepared and appetizing. Prices were on the higher side, especially with the cover charge added. If you're looking for more distinctive local flavors, I’d recommend Orlogio, just up the street—it offers a more interesting take on regional cuisine. This isn’t a negative review—just an honest observation. The place has charm and potential, and with a bit more attention to ingredient quality, it could really stand out.
