18/04/2026: Excellent cuisine and very friendly staff. To describe my experience I would say everything was "WONDERFUL".
16/04/2026: We booked for 15, including 8 adults and 7 children (we specified over the phone that we had 7 children aged 7 to 10). We entered calmly and quietly, but were greeted by the staff in an unprofessional manner. At the entrance, a waiter addressed one of the children, who was simply talking, saying "quietly and quietly" instead of a good evening and welcome. Naturally, we pointed out that if the children were bothersome, we could leave, and so we did. We had a three-day vacation planned in the area, and the restaurant was convenient for lunches or dinners, but obviously we preferred more welcoming places. A terrible experience that lasted 2 minutes. PS: The restaurant owner's response to this review shows how incredibly courteous he is.

03/05/2026: I stopped by this pub to watch a Formula 1 race (they have SKY) during a weekend in Follonica.
The beers on tap were very good, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was friendly and courteous.
I'll definitely be back!
28/04/2026: The atmosphere is lovely, thanks to the kindness and professionalism of the young owners. The menu is good, more like a restaurant than a pub, and the prices are reasonable.

Excellent value for money.
I recommend the four-course appetizers for two to share (€15 each) and the trio of first courses (€15 each), both delicious and plentiful.

15/11/2025: On a small street not far from the sea, this restaurant offers an excellent seafood menu with a wide selection of wines, including bottles to go.
We went for lunch, and despite the restaurant being fully booked, the service was prompt and accurate.
We loved the dishes we chose, and the freshness of the ingredients was evident.
Highly recommended.
26/10/2025: From what we'd heard, it seemed like the pinnacle of seafood, but it was a disappointment; not so much for the quality of the fish, which was excellent, but for the location, the service, and the dishes, which left much to be desired. The place was small and decorated like a banal pizzeria in a local club, the service bordered on polite (smiling and asking if everything was okay would be recommended), the food, good for the quality of the ingredients, but cooked inappropriately for the price. The gnocchi were soaked in oil, the paranza wasn't really a real one, but rather a banal fried fish dish (the regulations limit fish to a maximum of 12 cm in size), the potatoes called chips on the menu were cut very thick and raw. Not to mention the prices, which, for an osteria, were truly exorbitant. Finally, if I had read earlier how rudely the owner responds to negative reviews, I wouldn't have set foot there.

26/03/2026: A truly wonderful discovery! We've been coming to Follonica for a few years, but I'd never had the pleasure of tasting the authenticity of this place. Today was our first time, and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The welcome was wonderful, the atmosphere spacious, the service was incredibly kind and professional, the portions generous and of the highest quality, and last but not least... the prices were amazing. We'd definitely be happy to return.

24/06/2026: Ordered through Just Eat: 2 tongs and two fried foods. Delivery was on time, even early. So, no complaints.
The food had some issues:
- tongs burned in several places (as shown in the attached photo),
- slightly acidic tomato sauce,
- fried foods not freshly made but reheated. The olives weren't particularly affected, but the mozzarella balls were. They were hard and the filling wasn't stringy.
- one of the tongs had the filling on the cardboard.
Every experience is subjective, but I think some things are the same for everyone.

13/06/2026: We dined at Il Pirata at the recommendation of a dear cured meat supplier. We were looking for a quality restaurant to enjoy a well-made Cacciucco. At Il Pirata, we found excellence in every way. From the beautiful venue, both indoors and outdoors, to the very kind staff, the excellent food, the carefully sourced raw materials, all our dishes were consistently above our expectations. The Cacciucco is made exactly like our grandmothers used to make. If you pass through Follonica, definitely dine at this restaurant. You'll take home a memory you'll definitely want to share. Thanks to Stefano, his adorable son, and all the staff.

From the moment you walk through the door, you’re welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality that makes you feel more like a guest in someone’s home than a customer in a restaurant.
The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, with traditional Moroccan touches that transport you straight to North Africa. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and passionate about sharing their culture and cuisine. They take the time to explain dishes, offer recommendations, and ensure every guest feels welcome.
The food was simply outstanding. I ordered the veal tajine, and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Italy. The veal was unbelievably tender, slow-cooked to perfection, and infused with rich Moroccan spices that created incredible depth of flavor. Every bite melted in my mouth.
I also had the bissara and the harira soup, both of which were exceptional. The bissara was rich, creamy, and comforting, while the harira was hearty, flavorful, and clearly made from a traditional recipe. You can tell that every dish is prepared with care, quality ingredients, and a deep respect for Moroccan culinary traditions.
What impressed me most was how authentic everything felt—from the food and atmosphere to the kindness of the people working there. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers not only amazing food but also such a memorable cultural experience.
Whether you’re familiar with Moroccan cuisine or trying it for the first time, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. It was one of the highlights of my time in Genoa, and I will definitely return whenever I’m back in the city.

28/06/2026: Terrible. But I think the worst thing of all was the service. It doesn't seem normal to me to bring the pasta while we're still eating. I didn't say anything to avoid any awkward situations, but I advise the waitresses to be careful about this aspect. Bringing the dishes together gives the impression of a truly low-end place (which is fine, but the prices are anything but low) and gives the impression that they want to turn people away. The food was nothing special.
24/06/2026: Shameful, the place is supposed to close at 3 PM, but at 1:50 PM the staff had the smartest idea to put up a "closed" sign and bounce us around to stay inside the place (a restaurant) to have their hair braided.
I hope they take action.
Never again.
