07/02/2024: Di ritorno verso Roma da una breve vacanza in Romagna, ci siamo fermati ad Ascoli proprio per cercare La bottega dell'Oliva Ascolana, segnalata con ottime recensioni su Trip Advisor. E tra rue e ruette, proprio a ridosso della Piazza del Popolo, abbiamo trovato questo "scrigno" di sapori preziosi. Lo spazio aperto al pubblico per la vendita e la degustazione è piccolo ed aggraziato, ma i "gioielli" che vi sono esposti fanno intuire che là dietro, nel laboratorio, c'è il cuore pulsante . La nostra degustazione, guidata con sapienza e gentilezza dal sig. Luigi, ha visto sfilare cremini deliziosi, piconi di fragranza ineguagliabile farciti con ciauscolo , ravioli fatti di una sfoglia vellutata con ripieno di gallina , pecorino dal sapore antico e cannella , e poi.... la regina, la sublime Oliva Ascolana. Un bel bicchiere di ottimo sangiovese sfuso ( una piccola rarità anche questa, devo dire, poiché gli sfusi in genere non fanno onore al pasto ) ha accompagnato questa preziosa carrellata. Un piccolo tocco goloso alla fine: ravioli dolci di Carnevale, con crema e cioccolato, anch'essi di livello superiore. Prezzo onestissimo se rapportato alla altissima qualità delle materie prime e alla sapienza inarrivabile della lavorazione artigianale. Davvero un incontro felice.

28/11/2023: Siamo giunti in questo posto dopo aver cercato dove assaggiare le migliori olive ascolane. ci ha serviti una signora la quale mi ha riferito il prezzo al kg delle olive, abbiamo così deciso di farne un abbondante mezzo kg(25 euro)con l’aggiunta di un po’ di cremini. Ce li facciamo friggere per consumarli sul posto e da un vassoio più grande e uno piccolo( tipo cuki) escono fuori contate 4 mini porzioni ( eravamo sei persone), acquisto di bitter e una aranciata piccola.. totale 20 euro. Sono più che certa che il quantitativo offerto non era pari a quello acquistato, poiché ne ho visto la differenza di quantita mentre pesavano a crudo. Non ho voluto fare polemiche essendo in compagnia. Ma sono rimasta molto delusa, e molto dubbiosa dell’onestà. Ricordate che i clienti non sono fessi. Mai più. 👎🏼

03/04/2024: Even though I know how much a bad review can hurt, being a restaurateur myself, I nevertheless feel compelled to write it! Having a father, no longer able to travel, originally from Ascoli Piceno, and a mother eager to revisit the places linked to the love of her youth, we visited Ascoli on the Saturday before Easter! In this context, an inspection of one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, as it was also said at the time of the legendary Festivalbar, could not be missed: Piazza del Popolo! A little windy but beautiful day, so much so that you couldn't help but enjoy a good aperitif sitting in the most representative and historic restaurant in the place! Unfortunately we had to note that, apart from the long wait, given the turnout which would have made it acceptable, the service was absolutely not appropriate! Ordered a spritz with anisette, excellent among other things, and a white non-alcoholic bitter expressly and clearly ordered and reiterated to the waiter: without ice and if possible at room temperature! As already mentioned, after a relatively long waiting time, we were served my spritz and a red non-alcoholic bitter drowned in ice! I immediately pointed out the error to the young waiter, not the same one who took our order, and reiterated its importance several times. not of the color but of the temperature and ice factor of the soft drink, punctually we are served a white soft drink, correct, but again lost in a glass full of ice! Having pointed out again to the same young man that the drink had been requested several times without ice and possibly room temperature, I apologize for the repetitions but I want to convey the idea that the temperature of the drink which was intended for my mother was important, the waiter very rudely he mumbled something between his teeth and, having taken the glass of ice with a bit of soft drink inside, he brings us back, in a very shameless and rude way, the same thing after having removed the ice and therefore very cold! An episode which, due to a lack of style of a waiter who does not consider listening to be part of his job and not knowing that he is thus ruining the good name of a symbol of the city, ruined for me the good feeling that this square induces!

13/11/2023: Locale grazioso all’interno del cc il battente. Il menù è a base di pesce e consente di ordinare piatti unici, fritture, panini o insalate. Abbiamo preso la frittura e un’insalata di gamberi. La pastella era perfetta e non oleosa, patate cotte a parte non sapevano di pesce. Gamberi dell’ insalata ben puliti. Unica cosa strana che si paga prima, ma ci torneremo.

20/02/2024: A beautiful memory fully confirmed. Having returned to this historic restaurant with our nephew, we can only say that we left fully satisfied. Friendly but professional welcome from a family that has been running this restaurant for over 50 years with dedication and care for dishes based on local raw materials. An excellent lunch with grilled scamorza and raw ham, mother's inevitable fettuccine with the legendary spring sauce, a tasty wood-fired mixed grill and finally excellent chocolate meringues. Honest account and absolutely justified by the raw materials used and the craftsmanship of the dishes offered. Absolutely recommended, we will return as soon as possible.

13/02/2024: Point of sale in via Piceno Aprutino.. 11.45 am, I entered and there was no one behind the counter.. and there weren't even any customers, I was alone.. in the meantime I received a work call, shortly after the phone went out sales assistant... neither good morning nor good evening... tell me????!! I...excuse me for a moment, I'm busy on a work call...he throws I don't know what on the counter and opens his arms impatiently and goes back to the back of the laboratory...I end the call immediately...sorry but it was an urgent work phone call and you... I'm working too, tell me!!!! While I needed you, you continued to snort, with an annoyed and arrogant look, you told me the total amount to pay without asking me if I wanted anything else since I would have also wanted buy other products. I pay the bill, leave the pizza on the counter and don't take it away, I go out renewing my apologies trying to smooth over the situation. Satisfied, she tells me not to worry and disappears behind the laboratory. I didn't expect such treatment and such an inaccurate selection of staff from such a historic business that churns out some of the best pizzas and bread in Ascoli. I will return when there is a more professional order.

28/04/2024: I order a cake for 5 people, ask the price and am told that it costs €26 per kg. So far everything is ok. I collect the cake and as soon as I get home I weigh it and see that it is 1 kg, so the price should have been €26, but instead I paid €28. To me this is theft, so they are thieves. But it doesn't end there, the cake was a millefeuille and when eating it it wasn't crumbly at all. On a positive note, the creams were good.

28/04/2024: I ordered a cake over the phone for my son's swearing-in, I was very happy, it fully met my expectations. Very clean place and very friendly staff.

18/04/2024: Historic bar/restaurant in Ascoli, right in the center which over the years has always been able to evolve and keep up with the times. The breakfasts are ok, generously stuffed croissants and very good coffees. The dishes offered in the restaurant section are varied and delicious, from pizza to first and second courses. For a few years now there has also been the sushi part, which I personally have never tried so I won't expose myself.

09/04/2024: Shameful, foreign waiters who didn't know the language, exchanging and wrong orders, poor after dinner choices as 3/4 of the menu was unavailable. Explanation from the waiters "we are closed tomorrow". Confusing service and poor raw materials as the drink had little flavor and did not reflect the requested order. There was not even any accompaniment with typical appetizers despite the request we made. To top it off, the place asked us to pay as soon as the orders arrived and also rudely removed us for closing. Based on our experience, I do not recommend it as a venue in every aspect, service, product, wait, friendliness and prices.

01/11/2023: La cucina di una volta, ingredienti genuini, cucinati con la maestria della semplicità; menù vario e dietetico; servizio rapido e cordiale. Consigliatissimo.
