A place with a convenient location overlooking a square that, despite the scaffolding, retains its charm.
The interior of the café exudes the charm of its Art Nouveau style.
The coffee with anisette is delicious and worth a try.

In the heart of Ascoli Piceno, in the majestic Piazza del Popolo, there is the Caffè Meletti... a historic Art Nouveau-style establishment, just enter to realize. Excellent ice cream.

We've stayed there twice; inside you'll find a beautiful room just like it was 100 years ago – the terrace overlooks the square and its sights. Be sure to try their house Amaro!

We went with friends for an aperitif.
The service was quick. The aperitif was average... they added something extra that we didn't order, but they later took it off the final bill.

Easter Sunday, 11:00 a.m., we waited about 15 minutes for our order (after asking inside and then calling the waiter who was serving outside guests), and then another 15 minutes before receiving two coffees and an anisette. Furthermore, they didn't bring us the ashtray we requested with our order, and there were no tissues on the tables. The anisette was delicious, and the place was wonderful, but the service was absolutely terrible, ruining the magic.

This historic, well-maintained establishment is worth a visit, despite a few hiccups.
Hiccups? Yes, the service; at least the waitress who served us was a bit too pushy... Let me explain: it's all very well to showcase the establishment and the tradition of what Caffè Meletti represents and offers, but trying to "sell" beyond what the customer is asking for borders on intrusive. But be careful, everything is done with great professionalism and care.
As for the anisette, which MUST be tried, there's nothing wrong with it if you like the taste of anise. I have some concerns about the typical dessert: the priest's hat is there and will remain. I haven't tried it in other bars or pastry shops during my brief stay in Ascoli, but the one I tried at Meletti's seemed a bit dry and hard, and the cream filling was too dry. The price, mind you, isn't cheap, but for table service in a charming establishment, it should be included without too many problems.

Beautiful, historic cafe. Terrible music choices. The place is gorgeous and a must-see in Ascoli Piceno. Historic, beautiful, nice drinks and pastries, snacks with cocktails, feels like another era. UNTIL the music ruins it! Seriously? American pop in an Italian historic cafe? So wrong! At least play Italian music. Geez. Ruins the feel and ambiance.
We made a couple visits (bad music each time) and once service was excellent, the second time it was very slow, they had forgotten we were even seated outside and had to ask twice for our order. It could (and should!) be outstanding, but...some changes would make it much better experience for paying customers.

Stopped by for a simple coffee, but the coffee wasn't simple, but one of the best I've ever tasted. The historic venue is stunning inside! The staff is friendly, congratulations.
