14/12/2025: A fantastic experience at Cherì, a seafood restaurant I absolutely recommend. We started with a mix of raw and hot appetizers, all delicious: the raw seafood was incredibly fresh and of the highest quality. This was followed by a spectacular pan-fried dish with whole lobster, scampi, corn on the cob, and prawns: a rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked dish. To conclude, spaghetti with clams, scampi, and bottarga—simply exceptional. A balance of flavors that made the whole experience unique. Definitely worth repeating. Kudos to the staff and the kitchen!

The portions are large... compared to other restaurants. Something to keep in mind when ordering. Congratulations to everyone.

17/02/2026: Truly excellent burger joint in downtown Varese! It's been a long time since I've had such a satisfying burger. We ordered a DAJE on whole wheat bread and an Olimpico, both accompanied by fries and a wings appetizer. The portions were just right and the flavors were incredible. The location is neat and welcoming. The service was quick and the quality/price ratio was excellent. Highly recommended.

01/12/2025: A welcoming and simple place. Excellent food quality; self-service: you order at the food counter and take a seat, picking up glasses and cutlery; then they bring your dish to your table. I only found the side dish a bit pricey (for this reason, I'd prefer all prices to be displayed or provide more information to first-time visitors; there are chalkboards and signs, but if you don't know where to look, you can get a bit lost). Otherwise, it's reasonable. I'll gladly return on other occasions.

The rest of the menu is also delicious, with carefully selected, seasonal dishes. Plus, there's a huge selection of beers for all tastes (including gluten-free). Highly recommended! 🍔🍺

18/01/2026: This restaurant specializes in gnocchi and risotto in the historic center of Varese, occupying the charming spaces of an old cellar, giving the place a cozy and characteristic atmosphere. The cuisine focuses on homemade potato gnocchi and a long list of risottos, featuring both classic and more creative and seasonal combinations. There are also options for pairing two or three first courses to sample the various products. The first courses are truly excellent, tasty, with local pairings and generous portions. The setting is rustic and very well-kept, the spaces are well-managed, and the atmosphere is truly typical of a cellar, yet refined. The restaurant is very popular, so reservations are highly recommended. Prices are average, especially considering the location in the pedestrian area of ​​Varese, right in the city center. Recommended!

18/01/2026: Wonderful atmosphere, rustic yet elegant. We specifically were in a room with a vaulted ceiling and hanging wine racks, marvelous. The service was impeccable, and especially the food and the staff in the dining room were prompt. Excellent food, generous portions, we shared the appetizer we ordered (a normal person can easily fill up if they eat it alone), and the gnocchi were amazing; after all, Pastificio Dò never disappoints... Special mention for the gnocchi with bottarga, wonderful.

08/03/2026: Stayed with family over the weekend of March 6-8. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming: the common areas were just a bit "lived in," yet well-maintained and clean. The room was cozy and spacious: a comfortable bed, an excellent and manageable temperature, and amenities beyond our expectations. The location was perfect: right on the edge of the pedestrian area. The restaurant is fantastic, and after our first dinner, we never changed because of the authentic and balanced flavor (tagliatelle with meat sauce, ossobuco with polenta, a welcome appetizer, and complimentary limoncello). It's clear that the entire team has put in a lot of care, professionalism, and grace. Excellent value for money. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection of dried fruit and cereals, and on Sundays, cakes galore. You can tell when someone loves their job. If I were to return to Varese 100 times, I'd always stay at the Hotel Bologna.

Even if English wasn’t fully understood, it was clear that the staff were making every effort to communicate. I’ve never had such a warm experience before.

The wine list, mostly French, is excellent, and obviously very extensive. A place for those who don't care about prices. Not for everyone. The clientele is very particular. Unfortunately, we've had to deal with some unpleasant comments due to excessive wine and a certain provincialism. Not exactly a place to return to, despite the high prices. Not recommended.

08/12/2025: We stopped for a break after visiting the Sacro Monte. We didn't have dinner, but we did have hot chocolate with cream and apricot and hazelnut tart. Everything was delicious, and the staff, even though it was close to closing time, were very kind and helpful!
