02/07/2025: I have been to the restaurant several times, refined atmosphere and truly high-level cuisine worthy of the famous Japanese school. I would have gladly given 5/5 stars, but the low level of customer care did not allow it. The staff is really slow and uninterested in the well-being of the customer, for example, there have been screaming children throughout the dinner who "play" a piano and who are not reprimanded by anyone.

Thanks to Marco Larosa, last night my husband and I spent a wonderful evening in a very evocative location, with excellent dishes made with top-quality ingredients, expertly prepared by expert hands. You're wondering where? All this at the Naka Restaurant, drinks & sushi with Mediterranean cuisine, right at the foot of Her Majesty the Cathedral. You can dine both inside and outside: we opted for the outside. The place is truly refined, very elegant. The table setting is very minimal, but with very refined touches, from the lamp to the metal chopsticks. Not to mention the real gem that really makes a difference these days...the champagne served in its 1920s-style glass. Truly remarkable!! (Enough with champagne served in a Prosecco flute... here at Naka, class is not water 😉.) Let's get to the food: the menu is well-described, divided into two lists for sushi and Mediterranean dishes. We opted for sushi; I don't remember the names of the dishes, but with sea urchins, Mazzara red shrimp, truffle, tuna, salmon...seaweed, and the excellent rice, it was a true taste experience, and each piece was an explosion of distinct flavors that blended divinely. In short, Naka confirms itself as a top place to return to again and again with great pleasure and the certainty of not being disappointed. The wait staff is attentive, discreet, and present, but never intrusive. Marco Larosa is an excellent host, always smiling and kind, ready to satisfy every desire. 24/09/2025: I tried several Chinese dishes and noticed that the ingredients were fresh, everything tasted just right, and everything was cooked to perfection. The rice was very well prepared, and the vegetables retained that distinctive crunchiness. The atmosphere is pleasant, with good lighting and comfortable tables, perfect for a romantic getaway or a group of friends. The service was excellent, always attentive without being intrusive. I found it to be a balanced place in terms of quality and price, ideal for enjoying a varied and well-served meal.

02/10/2025: A place like few others these days. Clean, reliable, punctual, and friendly. Agua Loca is one of the best I've tried so far. I ordered some poke to go. I must say that their willingness to deliver to two different cities had already convinced me to stay a customer, but considering how delicious they are... I'd say even better! The staff is incredibly kind, especially the cashier, Ms. Sara, who is incredibly kind, friendly, and humble. She helped me a lot in placing an order of 5 poke without ever losing her temper. She's a girl worth getting to know personally and wishing him the best in life.

04/10/2025: I've been ordering poke here since it opened, and I've always noticed a gradual decline in quality. But never like today. I asked for a very simple poke, with two chicken pieces (they arrived just two pieces), quinoa, and a few other ingredients, and yet they managed to forget one ingredient and the only sauce I asked for (yogurt). I've never had a more tasteless poke, and I think I'll change.

23/07/2025: My boyfriend and I went to this place based on the more or less positive reviews. First of all, I booked, mainly because I knew from their website and online that they had hookah. I arrived and was told it wasn't available. I should have at least let them know. Anyway, we sat down and they pushed us to order the all-you-can-eat option, but in the meantime, we decided to try the sushi. The prices were really high, but anyway, we ordered a few pieces of sushi from the menu. As soon as they put the tuna sashimi on the table, it looked normal in color. As soon as I took the first piece and put it in my mouth, I immediately noticed the unpleasant fishy odor. Nauseous. I won't even tell you about the taste, it was awful. The most disgusting sushi I've ever eaten (and they just put it on the menu, and I don't even mention the prices because they're so exorbitant). I wouldn't have given it a cent! We ate with hesitation about the quality of the fish, and I'm of the opinion that sushi should be treated with care, as you don't mess with raw fish! We ate these raw pieces of sushi, almost having to force ourselves to eat them, because it was like eating spoiled fish. It was definitely a result of improper freezing and terrible preservation in the July heat. We ate, hesitant, thinking something might happen, and it did. In the evening, we went home and I felt terrible! It wasn't even Saturday, and there was no one there! Weekdays are usually when they take more care of the food and the customers, as there's less commotion. The food was poor, extremely low quality; I even felt sick! Who knows how it could have ended! No, no, no! And then the value for money was completely outrageous. I've eaten quality sushi at quality places for much less... It's a shame because it could have been a nice place and made a good profit. The waiters were a bit rude, and after we finished the sushi without asking for anything, they brought us the bill without asking, almost as if they were kicking us out. Bah!

20/07/2025: The thing I'll definitely remember about this place is the utter rudeness and listlessness of the young man who greeted us. When it was time to order, he seemed indisposed and rolled his eyes at every request we made, including mentioning a food allergy to strawberries. His attitude was one of utter annoyance and condescension. Fortunately, he was replaced by a young woman later in the evening. It's a shame because the sushi was decent. I wouldn't recommend it for celiacs, considering my husband had a twinge shortly afterward.

05/08/2025: Poor quality poke, sorry... I recommend using fresher fish and larger portions.

03/07/2025: The quality of the sushi has significantly decreased in inverse proportion to the cost, which instead has unreasonably increased. I fear the fish in the sushi was not very fresh. I am very sorry because there are not many places in Messina where you can eat good sushi and this was once one of the best.

20/10/2025: Really disappointing. The menu was difficult to negotiate and the staff were difficult to engage and not helpful or friendly when we could get their attention . Other than the edamame , the food came in very small and expensive portions . Not good value for money . The lowest point was sashimi comprised of unfrozen fish . We will avoid in the future .

17/10/2025: Like losing a customer who is forced to leave for health reasons because of the presence of a dog. And finding yourself faced with the indifference of the restaurateur. The worst thing is the enormous size of the sushi and being told that it's normal like this... hot drink. Sorry, after years you won't see me again.

18/10/2025: As an Indo, I was stupid and stubborn and still wanted to eat rice for one day... After a few bites, I was full. The food was too salty, and there was no atmosphere (which I wasn't expecting). I did have a nice chat with one of the waiters, though. That's where the stars come from.

13/09/2025: One star is too much, too bad there's no zero-star option. Five of us went this week for my birthday, to try it out and with the prospect of returning if we enjoyed it. The dishes (all of them) were tasteless or awful, the fried foods were soggy and rubbery, and the Chinese bread tasted like raw breadcrumbs. Of the various dishes, the only edible ones were some Chinese noodles with vegetables and a whole fish au gratin. By the end of the evening and for the next two days, five of us had terrible stomach aches... All five of us!!! This had never happened, not even in the worst places we've ever been. The only Chinese person inside the restaurant is perhaps the cashier; the dishes are prepared by staff who have no idea what Chinese cuisine is (or even Italian cuisine), in an open kitchen, where every so often someone eats and drinks standing up and in full view of the customers. I looked at the reviews beforehand, and while they aren't particularly high, there are some good ones, and I honestly don't know what those people who gave positive reviews are used to eating. As far as I'm concerned, this was the worst experience of all and one I absolutely must not repeat!

23/09/2025: The sushi is not recommended, the rice was completely overcooked. The sashimi was cut too thick.

21/09/2025: I stopped by because I missed Korean food while living in Syracuse for a month. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was!!! I think I'll be stopping by often for the rest of my stay :) I highly recommend it.

19/06/2025: Leaving aside the failure to deliver a maki, after spending 150 euros I find myself receiving a hot product that does not respect the "cold chain" (which is not appropriate for a delicate dish like sushi). As you can see from the photos, the fish looks ugly, has a dubious consistency - an appearance that makes you think of a spoiled product - and above all has a highly unpleasant flavor. I hope it was an unfortunate exception, but I doubt it. PS: The delicacy in the delivery is remarkable: the soy sauce was inside a plastic cup covered with transparent film and the entire order was served in two makeshift plastic bags.

06/10/2025: Improved since my review some time ago. Good. I've been back many times to eat there, and we had a good time. It's definitely better than McDonald's because there are many restaurants in Porte di Catania.

05/10/2025: McDonald's is always McDonald's, happy kids and adults too. Sometimes the wait is long.
