29/07/2025: I felt like I was being kidded. I ordered a Cantabrian anchovies appetizer with burrata. I received a very shabby plate with a small box of anchovies in oil and a small white ball, and nothing else. The silver box had no labels or references. I swear I never saw anything so shabby in the canteen during my military service! My wife ordered a typical local dish, according to them, and she received a plate of 70s-style pasta, linguine with cream and ham. Only the peas and mushrooms were missing. I'll leave out the rest. 2 desserts, 102 euros! Never again, sorry, I forgot an unidentified 1/2 liter of house wine and 2 grappas for each half... goodbye.

11/08/2025: My wife and I have been coming to Italy every year for the past 8 years, and these are the best pizzas we’ve ever had. On top of that, the owner is very professional, welcoming, and friendly, and it’s clear he has mastered his craft. Highly recommended.

29/08/2025: The setting is really pretty. The reception is very nice. It's a bit dated inside and could use a refresh. The shower drain doesn't drain properly, and the handheld showerhead leaks and doesn't have a consistent spray. The faucet diffuser should be replaced. As soon as someone smokes in front of the hotel reception, the entire lobby and stairwell smell of cigarettes.

25/08/2025: I’d saved this place for ages because the photos looked amazing, the reviews were glowing, and the low prices made it even more tempting. When I finally went, I couldn’t help but wonder if there’d been some changes… or if there was a hidden menu I didn’t spot… or maybe I just picked the wrong pizzas. The “fancy” toppings I’d seen in pictures didn’t really show up on my visit. That said, the dough and crust were genuinely very good, the cheese was spot on, and the prices are hard to beat. So while it wasn’t quite the experience I was expecting, it was still a solid pizza for the money.

24/08/2025: One star, not for the pastry, but because they don't wash the coffee machine between each coffee; in 2025, it should be given a negative rating. It costs little and makes a lot of money on the taste of the coffee.

26/08/2025: A charming spot in the heart of San Daniele with prices in line with the area. The atmosphere is well-kept and the stay pleasant. The staff is a sore point... The waitress walked past us "idle" and never asked us what we wanted. We had to stop her to order. The table was dirty (drinks from the previous person) and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. Anyway, she was kind and polite... not a waitress.

16/09/2025: I had an ice cream with two scoops. The crema catalana flavor tasted only of lemon, so crema catalana was just a random name. The lady who served me was very rude and showed no desire to work. Terrible!

14/09/2025: I had two scoops: goat's milk and pistachio ice cream! I'm sorry, but neither flavor tasted like I expected...not even a hint of pistachio, and not even a hint of goat's milk. It tasted like regular fior di latte ice cream, not even the best! The price was still under €2, which is the only positive!

16/08/2025: We wanted to have lunch outside; there were still tables available, but the girl told us there was only room inside. I asked if they had reservations, and she told us there was room for two inside. We opted for another place.

11/08/2025: To be avoided at all costs. The service is inexcusable. My wife and I waited 25 minutes and were never served. Not even a smile or the most basic politeness. We said hello when we came in, and no one replied. We left and went somewhere else.

01/10/2025: During a motorcycle trip in mid-June 2024, heading to Salzburg, but with a stop on the way to sleep in Cave del Predil (my dad's hometown), I decided to eat in San Daniele del Friuli, looking for a new place where I'd never stopped. I must say it was a great choice, both in terms of food and beer, but the service and staff were equally impressive. A welcoming place and a well-deserved break 🤩 I recommend stopping by Al Cappone Gigi Moturetta ✌🏼

01/07/2025: They are cheaters, I went for dinner there were 3 of us, the place overall is quite squalid, without air conditioning and with unpleasant smells that suggest a lack of cleanliness, but that's okay. The thing that made me furious was that we ordered a grilled cockerel whose price on the list was 12 euros, since 2 of us were not very hungry we asked that they split it into 2 parts on 2 plates. When I asked for the bill I immediately noticed that the cockerel had been charged with 2 separate items at 9 euros each for a total of 18 euros instead of 12. I asked for explanations and was told that the extra charge was for the "division in 2" service, I pointed out that they should have warned us in advance because if we had known we would have done the division ourselves, in response I was told that that's how it works there and if we were not satisfied we can avoid coming back.

29/04/2025: Desiderosi di assaggiare il prosciutto di San Daniele, siamo stati attratti dal menu con proposte diversificate. Il prosciutto ci è sembrato buono, ma più salato di come ci saremmo aspettati. Inoltre avevamo ordinato, come assaggio, un piatto di tagliolini alla trota affumicata (prezzo sugli 11 €) da dividerci in due: la cameriera ha ribattuto "quindi due mezze porzioni", senza specificare altro. Al momento del conto la sgradevole sorpresa: le due mezze porzioni ci sono state fatte pagare 8,00 € l'una, quindi applicando un aumento del 50% sul prezzo dichiarato! Abbiamo fatto presente il nostro disappunto e la giustificazione è stata che si tratta della loro "politica aziendale"... Trovo la cosa molto scorretta, ancor più dopo aver riscontrato che lo stesso inconveniente era già stato riportato in altre recensioni: quindi, poco trasparenti e pure recidivi!

26/04/2025: Ancora seduta al tavolo scrivo, e non per la prima volta (segno che ci ritorno spesso), una recensione di questo locale che resta una garanzia a San Daniele se si vuole gustare il prosciutto e non solo (magnifici i tagliolini con verdure di stagione). Cameriere molto accoglienti, attente e sorridenti. L'ideale per un pasto rapido ma non per pasti in cui si vuole allegramente temporeggiare. Perché allora solo tre pallini nella valutazione? Dolci con prezzo troppo elevato se rapportato a ristorazione di alto livello e pulizia non più quella di un tempo. Seduta non perfettamente pulita (perché liberando il tavolo dallo sporco è ovvio ricada sulla sedia se non si procede a sua volta a pulirla), una chiazza appiccicosa sul tavolo sulla quale ho incollato utilmente lo scontrino della comanda per non perderlo e pulizia perfettibile dei bicchieri; non è facile con tanto movimento di persone ma è fondamentale: insopportabile bere in bicchieri al calice non perfettamente puliti. A parte questi aspetti, facilmente risolvibili con un po' di impegno, continuo a consigliarlo.

22/08/2025: Coming off an already negative experience due to the rudeness of the staff, we returned solely because the pastries were good quality. The waitress's rudeness was confirmed once again: she was annoyed even when taking our order, and she was absent when we paid because she was smoking, but she was quick to call us back to complain that €2 was missing from the receipt. Needless to say, given such despicable behavior, we left her the coins because we felt sorry for her.
