07/04/2024: We came across this restaurant by chance. Very welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff. We got two cutlets, really good. Perfect breading.

01/04/2024: See bottom for summary. The manager of the restaurant has clearly understood what are the elements that distinguish a high-class restaurant: mediocre food covered by unaffordable prices and seasoned with abundant arrogance, obviously! In particular, the €4 cover charge is exceptional, justified by a small plate of crackers and Pleistocene sandwiches that probably not even Polly the parrot would have wanted to munch on. Anyone who wants to pay the cost of a dinner at Cannavacciuolo for two first courses cooked by Uncle Peppe and a bottle of tap water will certainly be satisfied. We consumed a ladleful of tortellini in a small bowl of chicken broth and a modest portion of tagliatelle with meat sauce (among other things, really indigestible) which, I quote the victim verbatim, "I made better at home". To this add 1l of tap water. How much did we spend? €36.80... and we had a 20% discount!!! When the bill arrived, out of the corner of my eye I swore I saw the owner slide with sinister laughter into the hidden vault behind the counter... was it the Nosferatu? Jokes (I hope) aside, nothing spoiled the evening like the appalling rudeness distributed liberally towards customers. It went quite well for us but there were episodes of haughty and disgusting tones that were truly chilling. Every customer I saw come in that evening was greeted with disdain and immediately severely instructed on where to put their jackets by a host who didn't even have the courtesy to raise his eyes to look at you while he groomed you. The top scorn of the evening in my opinion was reserved for the table of nine next to us, perhaps because there was a kid there? I felt bad for them. To conclude, the summary for those who don't like reading pippotti: *very expensive* place, snooty owner convinced he has a three Michelin star and dishes to forget. Attend at your own risk (especially financial)!

28/03/2024: We were passing through Modena and stopped to eat at Vecchia Pirri. Being close to the center but not inside the center was perfect for us. Very fast and friendly service. Characteristic place with lots of wood and many small "goodies" hanging on the walls. We had three first courses and some water for around 60 euros in total. Two tagliatelle with ragù, two passatelli. All good. One flaw in my opinion was the bread, a little too dry (perhaps cut too long).

02/04/2024: Excellent place, just off the Modena Nord motorway exit. We ordered the charcuterie board with tigelle and fried gnocco. Quality ingredients, some of our own production, with friendly, punctual and fast service. The place is very popular, proving the excellent quality-price ratio. Advised

13/05/2024: I came back here after a long time and I must say that the pizza is one of the best in the province of Modena and its surroundings. Regina Margherita is special with a dough that melts in your mouth. Fast service and very friendly staff, especially waiter Antonio. Large and spacious environment, which is rare for the historic center. Next time I'll try some fish dishes. Definitely give it a try.

07/04/2024: Among all the AYCE restaurants in Modena, already open for some time, this is perhaps the only one that has maintained the standards of its opening. The food is always good, well cooked, with distinct flavors even in the grilled specialities. Excellent service, quick and precise. Obviously in busy moments, it is normal for something to slow down, they are humans not robots. The presence of the kaiten (roller) is unparalleled and becomes super fun and dynamic even for the little ones. I await an actual renewal of the menu... recently something has changed in the types of dishes offered at lunch but the type of things served has not changed. After a few years, a renewal of the dishes would be good!! Especially for loyal customers, it would be nice to be able to taste something different. The only thing I highly recommend: greater cleaning in the roller area, especially on the wooden grill in the ceiling above the sushiman.

03/04/2024: Unfortunately we were placed in a veranda area with a cold temperature, not only us but also other people dined with their jackets on... Poor service: 5 pizzas on the same table arrived 10 minutes between the first and last and everyone was expected to start.. The pizza is good, very light and not exactly generous.

05/05/2024: Beautiful decoration but let down by a few elements: 1. Digital menus are a terrible idea!!! Who want's to walk into a restaurant then sit on their phone for 10-15 minutes while they browse the menu. It creates a hostile atmosphere. 2. Everything was too rushed. When I ordered, the food arrived literally 2 minutes later. Doesn't really give the impression it's freshly prepared. My girlfriend's arrived around 10 minutes after at which point I was nearly finished. 3. The bread that was placed on the table was rock hard. Wasn't even edible. Has potential but didn't impress on our visit.

02/04/2024: Delicious pizza, very fast service even though we arrived on a Saturday evening at 8.30pm without a reservation. Environment: we were on the veranda which was a bit noisy with the street traffic. Worth coming back!

06/04/2024: Emailed one month ahead for a reservation. Got an email back asking for a number which we promptly provided. came all the way down for dinner only to be greeted with rude service that our reservation is not confirmed??? because we did not get an email confirmation? 1) the person tending to the email address for the reservation obviously did not do their job… and rudely asked why we did not follow up when they did not send any further emails??? 2) if you indeed forgot to respond or record the reservation, pls at least apologize to your customer. it’s basic and the least you can do. does serving good food give you the right to poor service and be so rude to your customers?

06/04/2024: Have sent email and reserved a place for 6th April, however the staff didn’t recognized the reservation. In fact they asked for a phone number, which we replied in a booking a month ago. Plus the lady blamed us that we don’t have a reservation and not able to give us a seat. how do you expect your customer to know your process and chase you for a registration number. And the customer have followed up immediately with a number. The staff was so rude and proud, with their nose up high… looking down on people. Please avoid this restaurant, they are too proud and can’t be humble after they have screwed up. Sharing emails
