28/12/2025: We happened upon it today for lunch almost "by mistake"... And we couldn't have made a bigger mistake 🤣🤣🤣. We'll definitely be back to make another mistake. We ate truly excellent traditional dishes. The wine went down beautifully... Highly recommended. I'll definitely be back as soon as possible to try the rest of the menu 🤣. Really, congratulations. The desserts were excellent too. Everything perfect. Well done!!!

08/11/2025: This place was recommended to us by friends, and they were right! A scenic spot, a beautiful and clean atmosphere, very friendly staff, fair prices, and quality food. Parking is easy, and the location is also on the so-called Path of the Gods between Bologna and Florence. Highly recommended.

28/05/2026: We stopped for lunch. The first courses were excellent, as were the desserts. The staff were friendly and smiling.

19/03/2026: It's a restaurant open only at lunchtime, popular with workers. It's a simple and unpretentious place, but in its simplicity, it offers truly delicious dishes, clearly made with love, not for profit. Even the bulk wine, which I'm often afraid of, is decent and easy to drink. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the place, which has deliberately remained stuck in the 1960s and 1970s, is a good choice. As for the food, 5 stars.

05/04/2026: A very charming place nestled in the woods, overlooking a fishing lake. The first and second courses are refined and excellent, especially the game with mushrooms and truffles. The owner and staff are extremely friendly. We'll be back as soon as possible.

07/03/2026: A corner of times gone by. It feels like stepping back 50 years, in a good way, of course. It's worth the trip to escape Bologna's winter fog and summer heat. The menu is limited but made with authentic, quality ingredients: Massimiliano, the owner, forages for mushrooms and truffles (what he calls black truffles outsmarts the white ones they foist on us in the city) and offers dishes accordingly. Everything is delicious, the atmosphere is delightful. And, be sure to try the spectacular roast potatoes. Top. Braviiii!!

02/05/2026: I had originally planned to stay in the hotel next door, Poli, as they have way better reviews. They have some fancy online messaging app. However, I never got a reply. Thus I was lazy and just booked this hotel via Booking.com. I was aware of the bad reviews. The rooms never have been updated since 1960s probably. Now the biggest complaints however are the shower. There’s just a trickle of warm water. Very frustrating after a long hike. In addition, the mattress was the worst I ever experienced. I spent 1000+ nights in hotels all over the world, but that never happened to me. Most guests eat dinner at the hotel at 25 per person including drinks. Food was okay. At least you can get some vegetables, like spinach and zucchini. Pasta wit Ragu however was rather disappointing. Breakfast, it’s okay.

27/04/2026: Friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, a rich and varied breakfast with both sweet and savory options. Unparalleled value for money. Thanks to all the staff for their hospitality. If I ever come back to Madonna dei Fornelli, I'll definitely stay here again. Francesco
