Porta Vaticana In Tropea

Absolutely fantastic! We ate there three times during our holiday because we enjoyed it so much. The food was incredibly delicious, from appetizers to various main courses like pasta, pizza, and seafood, right through to dessert. We highly recommend everything. The atmosphere is lovely, as it's a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city. And what I'd especially like to emphasize is that all the staff were incredibly friendly and spoke excellent English.

The seafood mix was very tasty. The wine was the same. The pizza was also good. The place is beautiful.

We all agree that Tropea is a tourist destination, but I think we shouldn't dwell on the fact that customers return every year, so who cares? That said, I'll say: dinner with family and for the first time at this place. From the outside, it feels like walking into one of those places where you almost feel intimidated, but then... everything is simple. In what sense, you might ask. I say this because the name sounds important, the entrance suggests something very nice in terms of management, but in reality the place is "old." I think the customer's eye also wants its part. It has enormous potential as a place, but it seems to have opened just for the summer season. From the decor, to the fans that aren't exactly clean, the furniture a bit haphazardly placed. But that's just my opinion. I should start by saying that the waiters were really quick in taking orders and providing service, perhaps even too quick. Despite the fans, they were a bit "sweaty," and I think this is a negative point if you're waiting at tables. But they were efficient. The menu was extensive, but a small point for the future: the descriptions of the dishes were missing. We ordered three appetizers (the price and quality didn't reflect the amount we ate), two first courses (which I must say were good but average), a grilled swordfish (good), and fried calamari (rubbery, not very crispy, and not enough in my opinion), and of course a bottle of white wine. My expectations, like those of my family, weren't fully met, and I'm sorry about that, because I care about my homeland and I respect those who invest so hard in Calabria, but we also need to adjust our quality and customer expectations. I hope things improve, because Tropea thrives on tourism, and we need to be careful about this, meticulous and scrupulous in everything.

Simply wonderful! The service is exceptionally fast. The staff is very courteous, friendly, and helpful. The food is absolutely divine. Here you can easily forget about everyday life and simply enjoy yourself. It's as if time stands still for a moment. I'll definitely be back! (With appetizer, main course, a bottle of wine, and a bottle of water = €80 for 2 people) Excellent value for money!

I ate on the second floor; it was a bit hot, but the pizza was really delicious. I ordered the Tropea Pizza, which was unique because it contained tuna, and the dough was really chewy and tasty. I ordered the Seafood Risotto, and the texture and umami flavor were excellent. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, and there were many customers. I ordered Pecorelle wine, which paired well with the food.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. We recommend it!!!

Okay food. Nothing special, nothing bad. Classic.

The food is a bit of a mixed bag: some dishes are very good and others are not. The place is very hot, there is not enough ventilation. The staff is quite friendly. We will not be back.
