Trattoria alla Madonna

02/06/2025: Delusione totale in una delle trattorie più decantate di Venezia
Su consiglio di un residente, ho cenato alla Trattoria della Madonna, presentata come una delle più antiche e rinomate della città. Purtroppo l’esperienza è stata decisamente negativa.
Il pesce servito era chiaramente surgelato e preparato in anticipo, senza alcuna cura. La granseola, indicata come piatto forte, è arrivata nel carapace palesemente riutilizzato, con una poltiglia poco invitante e dal sapore discutibile (22 € a persona). L’antipasto della casa (oltre 30 € a testa) consisteva in pochi assaggi di mare: gamberetti precotti, canocchie e lumache riscaldate, più un moscardino non pulito e amarissimo.
Il fritto misto era gommoso, il guazzetto di seppie pesante e accompagnato da una polenta palesemente industriale. Con vino della casa in caraffa e tre sorbetti, il conto è arrivato a 330 € in quattro.
Esperienza deludente sotto ogni aspetto. Peccato: Venezia merita ben altro. Sconsigliato.

Given this is so close to Rialto I wouldn’t expect the quality to be so good or the prices so reasonable. That’s why we return each trip - usually multiple times.
A pasta for €16-€20. A main for €19-€22 (including options for a piece of fish or a fish by weight which sometimes catches people out. Desserts at €6 and wine under €20 a bottle.
Yes service is now on the bill. It’s clearly stated but until a few years ago it wasn’t. We’ve never been pressured to pay an additional service charge, though we sometimes do. Our choice.

15/06/2025: Unfortunately, absolutely disappointing.
We were very dissatisfied with our visit. The food was overall poor – the steak, which we specifically ordered rare, arrived completely cooked. We didn't eat it and wanted to return it; when we asked, neither an apology nor a solution was offered.
In addition, the dishes didn't arrive at the same time, so some at the table were already finished while others had to wait.
The service was inattentive and unfriendly. A woman who claimed to be the owner was particularly negative – unfortunately, she was also very disrespectful and not very customer-oriented. Only at the end, after a lengthy attempt at discussion, did she cancel the meal.
It's a shame – we were really looking forward to the visit.
A little tip: if you want to run an American diner, you should also understand a bit of English, especially if you want to profit from tourism.
14/06/2025: We showed up in 6 at this place, they took a table from us and made us stay at a small table (for maximum 4 people), continuing the evening we noticed the cutlery (knives and forks) dirty.
As a last thing I wanted to mention the long waiting times to eat.
Rude staff, at the time of payment there were 6 of us and they did not give us the possibility to pay with separate bills with the excuse that it was Saturday.
Once we entered the bathroom the soap was not soap but water.
Poor quality and cooking of the food.
As a final criticism I wanted to say that all the sauces brought to the table were finished/in small quantities.

21/06/2025: Unfortunately, a disappointing experience. I bought a pastry that was very dry. When I pointed this out, they reheated another one in the microwave, but it was identical: still dry and not very fresh.
I expected better from a pastry shop. I don't think I'll go back.

13/04/2025: Increíbles Aperol Spritz, los mejores que tuvimos en Venecia. Y además de eso, el personal hizo un esfuerzo adicional para ayudarnos a comprar cigarrillos y para llevarnos de vuelta a nuestro hotel. Muchas gracias por todo.
18/02/2025: En un mal día en cuanto al clima, tuvimos una parada de refugio aquí con cafés de lujo y algunos postres Tiramisu. Los Cafés a Marocchino y Canellino eran tan buenos y el Tiramisus un placer bienvenido. Nos sentamos afuera bajo los carritos mientras veíamos la actividad en el Gran Canal a través de las gotas de lluvia. Disfrutamos mucho de nuestro respiro del clima. El servicio era bastante bueno y todo fue relativamente rápido, teniendo en cuenta el hecho de que era bastante tranquilo debido a la época del año y el clima. No probamos ninguna de las opciones de comida más grandes, pero encontramos que teníamos muy bueno y no tan caro para Venecia. También tomamos café aquí o nuestros tours gastronómicos unas noches antes y era bueno entonces, que nos ayudó a elegir aquí cuando en la zona. Recuerde visitar Gobbo si visita aquí.

12/06/2025: The food was good but there's plenty of room for improvement, but the service was definitely abysmal. We wanted a shandy and a Spezi. They told us we had to mix the drinks ourselves. He then charged us extra for each one. The total bill was split in half, which was also too much to ask. Well, all in all, the worst I've experienced in recent times.

27/06/2025: A rip-off! Considering how little we ate, the prices on the menu are inflated. They charge for service, they even charge for breathing. The food was average, nothing special, and we thought we'd pay around €100 according to the menu, but oh! What a surprise: €256 and we were left hungry. Luckily, the bread filled us up. Terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. This bad experience will help us look at reviews first before going somewhere.

Cuttle fish wasn’t really up to the avoid. Best to avoid.

The pizza tastes like a reheated ready-made product from the supermarket - the bottom can be compared to stale bread and the "sauce" is probably a ladle of old tomato soup. The place itself is not pleasant either, there is very little space, especially in the bathroom hung with cobwebs. The service is terrible, the lady charged 20 euros for the "luxury" of a paper tablecloth on the table.

06/05/2025: Tuve una experiencia extremadamente angustiante en el Bar Ai Nomboli que me siento obligado a compartir para advertir a otros.
Al pedir lasaña, me sirvieron un plato que no se parecía a la lasaña tradicional. Cuando expresé cortésmente que esto no era lo que esperaba y me negué a aceptarlo, el servidor se puso agresivo, gritándome y acusándome de no saber qué es la lasaña.
A pesar de estar con mis hijos, el funcionario continuó burlándose de mí e insultándome en voz alta. Mantuve la calma y pregunté por qué me trataban tan groseramente. Ella respondió diciendo que necesitaba “enseñarle a la gente” cómo es la lasaña y cuestionó cómo podría saber cómo debería ser la lasaña.
Cuando me negué a pagar por una comida que no comí y mencioné reportar el incidente a la policía, ella se intensificó aún más, amenazando con tirarme de los pelos y diciéndome que regresara a las 2 p.m. para que pudiera hacerlo cuando no hubiera clientes alrededor.
Su comportamiento estaba lleno de racismo, odio y hostilidad. Hizo suposiciones falsas sobre mi nacionalidad, me insultó aún más y me trató de manera degradante basándose en esa suposición.
Esto fue algo más que un servicio deficiente: fue abuso verbal, discriminación e intento de asalto. Espero que la dirección se tome este asunto en serio. Ningún cliente debe ser sometido a tal tratamiento.
Evita este lugar a toda costa.

One small piece of Salome, very small pieces of lasagna for example you are calculating like okay I have to pay a maximum 70 euros they will surprise you will around 2 times more! The service is not good and they also expect to get tips!
23/06/2025: Food was great served water for free which was a hard find for me in italy complimentary bread and breadsticks were lovely along with the food, nice atmosphere and kind staff
