04/04/2024: The place is absolutely lovely! A very cozy, warm and welcoming Balkan atmosphere in the city centre of Trieste, not far from Trieste central railway station. Had a wonderful dinner, very good food, lovely hosts awesome wine and Rakija liquor....a must try!

02/04/2024: Traveling to Trieste I looked for information on restaurants and was immediately attracted to Rustiko and fortunately we found room for two plus a dog. The environment is very refined, full of details just as I like it, in pure Balkan style. Very relaxing soft lights and nostalgic Serbian music in the background. The girls who looked after us were nice and very professional and we also met what we thought was the owner, very attentive to all the customers at the table and extremely jovial. Very tasty and well presented food, excellent beers, little game to pass the wait which was very short despite the place being quite full. Unfortunately we are very far away but, if we return to Trieste, we will certainly return to Rustiko. Thanks for everything and Roger also thanks for the welcome and cuddles.

23/03/2024: Super good, tasty and super stuffed sandwiches. Fried foods and carefully prepared dishes. Excellent state-of-the-art draft beers. Good atmosphere (as they say in Trieste). The place is always full and you wait a bit for the food because everything is freshly prepared, then the real cooked ham with the hand-cut bone is truly a gem. And the prices are great

06/04/2024: One of the best gluten-free pastry shops (and bakeries) in all of Northern Italy. Huge variety of sweet and savory products - with also lactose-free and vegan options - all delicious. Mandatory stop at least once a week!

02/03/2024: Unfortunately, one cannot live for long on income from past glory. Waiters who bump into you while serving, bland risotto, bad wine. Prices a little high for the environment and quality, another place ruined by Trieste tourism.

01/04/2024: Excellent food and characteristic atmosphere (a little kitsch, but that's the beauty of it). The only sore point: the sommelier. He tried to be nice (spoiler: he ended up being unpleasant) and listed a couple of wines 'orally' for us. He didn't let us consult the menu and didn't tell us the price of the chosen glass of wine. Overall the experience was ultra positive, the fish was very fresh and all the other waiters and the owner were impeccable.

29/03/2024: Good raw and I would say enough. The baked catch of the day with potatoes, although they had cleaned and thorned it, was full of thorns and not well cleaned. The service is not memorable and the place is a mix of ancient and... modern that leaves something to be desired.

18/02/2024: Authentic ambience, daily menu with excellent seafood (row as well), good prices, extraordinary selection of good wines, pleasent and helpful staff. My recommendation for wining and dining in Trieste.

07/04/2024: We went on Easter Sunday for a large family lunch, there were 12 of us. The service was attentive, thoughtful, kind and patient. Even though the place was full inside and out. We ate very well. The dishes prepared and presented with care. The starters are very good. The mix of fish is excellent and light! Excellent desserts. The place is clean and tidy despite limited spaces. Clean facilities!! A truly enjoyable lunch!

13/02/2024: Quite nicely located. Unfortunately quite unfriendly at the counter and no service outside. I've also seen cleaner versions of glasses.

07/04/2024: I had booked a table for 1pm. We arrived slightly early as it was raining. We didn't get off to a great start...when we entered they snubbed us a bit, but once we were seated, everything changed. It feels like we've gone back in time. Courteous staff, good food, not a cheap place. We took 2 typical local soups, 1 bottle of water, a rather small glass of wine and 2 coffees.

06/04/2024: We didn't eat here. It reminded me of the bar in Cézanne's famous painting. Fabulous atmosphere. Also houses a book shop.

03/04/2024: One of the historic venues in Trieste, where you can fully breathe the Central European atmosphere. Small, but very nice with some tables outside. The coffee is of absolute excellence. Excellent classic desserts with plenty of room for imagination.... The service was accurate. Prices are high, but in line with other places of the same level.

29/03/2024: Sacher very good and the girl at the counter really kind; single portion "Sole" ricotta, lemon and salted caramel, particular and tasty.

04/04/2024: In an enchanting historic venue, paying just 1 euro for an excellent coffee at the counter is a pleasant surprise. Complete with hot chocolate to accompany it. Compliments !
