A true Trieste institution!
Pirona is a historic and charming place, where you can still feel the atmosphere of Trieste as it once was.
Excellent pastry shop, with truly delicious traditional desserts: the presnitz is a must-try, along with a hearty breakfast and excellent coffee.
The elegant and unique atmosphere is perfect for a break during a stroll around the city.
A place that combines history, tradition, and quality.
If you're in Trieste, it's definitely worth a stop!

Charming café with very friendly service, the cappuccino was excellent, the croissant was amazing, even freshly filled! Both cost less than €5, which you wouldn't have expected from the outside (it's been there since 1900) - I would definitely go back, even though the stools outside were a bit uncomfortable :-)

Trieste's number one pastry shop, thanks in part to the excellent counter service of Lucy and the products prepared by pastry chef Francesco. Highly recommended.

A quaint, ancient café located in one of Trieste's most central areas, offering a welcoming and refined atmosphere that leaves nothing to be desired.
It's an excellent choice for a quick breakfast, offering (in my opinion) the best croissants in the city, paired with an excellent large Italian cappuccino. Although the limited interior space doesn't allow for seating, a few tables still allow you to set down your order and eat from a stand.
The service was professional and elegant.
A little gem in the city center that I will definitely return to.

Charming cafe frequented by James Joyce in his Trieste years. Marvellous to see this kept true to that unique inter war period of creativity and challenge to the accepted world order both political and cultural. Also excellent coffee and presnic (pastry) as favoured apparently by the literary icon.

A nice place with excellent products, but I have to point out two negatives: a €2.50 croissant with chocolate only on the top and nothing inside is a bit disappointing. Another thing that bothered me: the management of the tables. Today, a woman took a table outside while her husband was still in line ordering, and the line was long. I had arrived earlier, and already had breakfast ready, but I had to eat it standing up. I mentioned this to the woman, but she ignored the situation and remained seated at the table. Perhaps if one of the staff had told her, she would have stood up, but obviously the staff were busy at the counter. When I finished my breakfast, her husband had just picked up his tray to leave. Let's face it!
