A special mention goes to the warm bread served with the olive oil, which was truly excellent, as well as the homemade tiramisu, which was truly memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat traditional Matera cuisine in a refined, modern, and elegant setting.

24/08/2026: When you're in Basilicata, you feel at home; when you arrive at this restaurant, you feel like you're in YOUR home. Everything was superb. The cut of steak was perfect, the sausage was rustic and flavorful. Not to mention the bread, which was supreme. It feels like you're enjoying the genuine and authentic flavors of yesteryear in a modern, clean, understated, and sublime setting. We had a wonderful time and will return as soon as we can. 19/06/2026: If you're in Matera and looking for a place to cool off, Birreria 79 is a must-see. The atmosphere is truly pleasant and relaxed, making it the perfect place to enjoy a cold beer after walking through the Sassi. The beer selection is excellent, and the service is quick and friendly. It was the refreshing stop we needed during our day. Highly recommended for those looking for quality and a welcoming atmosphere right in the center!

01/06/2026: Proprietary craft brewery in the center of Matera, managed directly by the brewery, the place is very nice and has an outdoor terrace. The guys are all kind and attentive to the needs of the customers, we tried the Belgian strong ale and it won us over, due to various commitments we were unable to try the cuisine, but chef Matteo, also in his role as publican, will be able to advise you best, next time we will try his creations; there was also a refrigerator with their beers available at the time; two pieces of advice: If possible, try to guarantee more or less the entire line for takeaway (I understand that it's not easy, but the potential is there). Then, if you can, open a little earlier, we are fighting everywhere to guarantee excellent drinks even in the mid-afternoon, where possible. Highly recommended.

21/08/2026: Perfect for a quick lunch break, they offer a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, ice cream, and more. Friendly staff, fast table service, and fair prices. Plenty of outdoor tables in the square, shaded by umbrellas. Be careful, as there are tables from multiple establishments in the square; they're the round ones with white chairs facing the entrance.

18/08/2026: Definitely a tourist trap! When THEIR credit card machine stopped working, they acted as if we were trying to dine and dash while we tried to sort things out and get cash. Very uncomfortable, impolite and unprofessional.

06/12/2025: Perfect! A beautiful property in an old building, centrally located, with a view of the Sassi. Comfortable yet luxurious rooms, with attention to every detail. The friendly, helpful manager and staff make you feel at home.

28/10/2025: We just dropped in for an aperitivo on their beautiful terrace overlooking Matera. The service was wonderful and incredibly friendly, and it's worth stopping by. We happened to be there just as the entire city was lighting up, so the view was even more stunning. We recommend the 007 cocktail.

23/08/2026: Fantastic location overlooking the Sassi of Matera, and inside there's an exhibition of antique objects and utensils (19th and 20th century). Friendly staff, but service is a bit slow. Excellent quality food and good value.

23/08/2026: Lunch overlooking the Sasso Baresano and the Basilica promontory. When will we have another chance? A truly culturally powerful experience, as the restaurant also features a museum of traditional agriculture housed in some of the original underground caves. As for the food: excellent, plentiful, and traditional. The highlight is the handmade orecchiette with tomato, cheese, and mini meatballs, baked in individual earthenware pots. The local appetizer and desserts also fully met our expectations. A 10. Definitely worth a visit when visiting Matera, both for the food and the experience.
