01/02/2026: We found ourselves in this little place drawn by all the excellent reviews, and I must say it fully met our expectations!
Both the sandwiches and the beer selection are excellent, but the owner certainly makes the difference: he's friendly, courteous, and very professional. Overall, an impeccable experience! I'll definitely be back if I ever pass through Trieste again!

A place where the dishes are meticulously prepared and of high quality.
We were about to order more dishes, having never been there before, but the waitress's professionalism ensured we ordered just what we needed and thus enjoyed everything to the fullest without wasting anything.
The house wine was excellent!

02/11/2025: It's a fast food restaurant serving Balkan products in the center of Trieste. The quality is top-notch and the ingredients are delicious. The prices are a bit higher than average, but considering it's in the center of a "rich" city, that's understandable.

30/09/2025: During the renovation we were given rooms on the top floor without a lift and still to be renovated under the roof not exactly a nice value to see living and above all paying other people on the lower floors everything was ok maybe we were the unlucky ones and in any case we were not warned of the differences in quality of the rooms by the manager

08/05/2025: Ora che la gestione è cambiata, si gode nuovamente nell'arrivare al rifugio più basso del mondo. I piatti sono ottimi, la cucina è tradizionale ma finalmente curata e di ottima qualità pur rimanendo su livelli di costo da gita domenicale. Ottime le birre, i dolci e soprattutto finalmente un clima amichevole.
03/05/2025: Sono stata a pranzo con amici in questo rifugio storico finalmente riaperto, a parte la location in una posizione fantastica, è stato tutto super: ottimo cibo, porzioni più che adeguate, buon vino e dolci. Da sottolineare la gentilezza del personale, tutti ragazzi giovani cortesi e sorridenti.
Sicuramente un posto dove tornare con piacere.

26/05/2025: Excelente comida. Teníamos el pollo y la tagliata de ternera, ambos muy tiernos y cocinados por expertos. El vino de la casa era un delicioso merlot. Ambiente muy relajado y acogedor. Tenemos nuestro conserje del hotel para agradecer la recomendación, ya que desde la calle parece un bar de vinos. Está a dos cuadras del lugar donde atracan los cruceros, por lo que es muy céntrico.
09/03/2025: Como recomendó el conserje en nuestro (excelente) hotel en Trieste, esto fue acogedor, buena comida, super elección de vinos por copa y buena relación calidad-precio. ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Tuvimos una comida variada y magníficamente ejecutada - el sarro de ternera y el pollo lento - cocinado eran ambos sobresalientes - y cuando el conserje del hotel y sus colegas llegaron para su almuerzo, entendimos su recomendación! No lo dudes.

12/09/2023: Everything is great about this restaurant that we visited several times, but always when visiting Trieste. If I had a dinner somewhere else, I would go for second dinner in Mascalzone.
I remember Rocco, the owner, who looks like Mancini, and the staff that was always on top level.
Nice, warm atmosphere and above all very tasty, simple food, prices normal.
Recommendation.

20/04/2025: Tuve una experiencia terrible en este establecimiento. Los camareros eran antipáticos. No nos ofrecieron menús ni ninguna explicación sobre lo que hay en el menú. No hay cubiertos cuando se sirve nuestra comida. Cuando se trataba de pago pedimos dividir la cuenta solo para ser satisfecho por la actitud masiva del cajero Tony que nos rechazó y luego al preguntar de nuevo comenzó a golpear la caja y el dinero en efectivo hacia abajo en nosotros.
29/03/2025: Mangiare di ottima qualità, personale simpatico e molto professionale. Il piacere di concedersi un momento di pausa e di riscoperta di certi sapori.
