La Locanda del Capitano In Montone

We went to eat and the experience was very pleasant. Giancarlo is an excellent host.

Once again, we had the pleasure of dining at La Locanda del Capitano... this time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Having lived in Umbria for the past four and a half years, we have grown to truly appreciate fine food and wine, and for me as a passionate food and wine lover, there is simply no better place than this culinary jewel in Montone. Chef Giancarlo Polito is more than just a master in the kitchen... he is a true gentleman. His genuine care for his guests and his dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences set this restaurant apart. Every visit feels special, thanks to the perfect combination of exquisite cuisine, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay much longer. We absolutely love it here, and La Locanda del Capitano continues to be one of the highlights of our life in Umbria.

The kindness of Chef Giancarlo and his entire team ensured a wonderful stay (as usual, this is our fourth visit and we live in Turin) in an enchanting medieval village. The hospitality was warm and the food and wine selection superb at the two connected restaurants. Osteria Tipico offers top-quality local cuisine paired with a thoughtful selection of wines (and cocktails, including a memorable Negroni) by head sommelier Paolo. At Locanda Giancarlo delighted us with a dinner that wasn't Michelin-starred (according to the culinary business model) but was stellar, with seafood pairings that hark back to his Salento roots and Umbrian cuisine, expertly showcased in his preparations. What a shame to have to leave!

We ate there but didn't stay at the hotel. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service and atmosphere on the terraces, right in the heart of beautiful Montone, are excellent. Highly recommended!

Very nice room overlooking the medieval village, friendly and polite staff. We also enjoyed an excellent breakfast customized to our taste. Great location, but parking is difficult.

A beautiful hotel, charming and completely original. The rooms offer fantastic views of the village and the surrounding valleys. A terrace overlooking Umbria. The restaurant, led by Chef Giancarlo Polito, is a must-visit: with his highly trained staff, he always manages to surprise with exciting, top-quality dishes, using the finest ingredients. The wine cellar is superb. If that weren't enough, connected to the Locanda is Tipico, a truly unique 100% Umbrian trattoria.

Restaurante muy bien situado en el encantador pueblo de Montone. Tuvimos una noche muy especial aquí. El servicio fue atento y profesional, el chef explicó los platos y ayudó con la selección del vino. Ambos fuimos por el menú degustación que estaba bien equilibrado y delicioso, desde el propio aceite de oliva del chef y el pan recién hecho a través de la hermosa tarta de limón que, a sugerencia de los servidores maridamos con un vino de postre encantador que no estábamos familiarizados con - 'Picolit'. Fabolosa, bravo!

Lo chef Giancarlo e i suoi ragazzi hanno saputo suonare l'arpa dei nostri sensi con delle pietanze privilegiate. No, non si mangia e basta, si vive un'esperienza completa di tutti e 5 i sensi.
