21/12/2025: We went to this restaurant yesterday for dinner, which was recommended to us. The staff were very friendly and helpful as soon as we walked in. They immediately asked us if we had any food intolerances (which isn't a given, quite the opposite, in fact). We had delicious pucce with octopus carpaccio, made with excellent ingredients. The ability to accommodate those with dietary restrictions is a plus.
Definitely worth a try!

18/02/2026: Stunning location. Breathtaking views of the Civetta. Extremely friendly staff. Impeccable decor and service. Today we stopped for a break from skiing and were also treated to venison fillet and grilled ribs, simply SUBLIME!!!
We'll definitely be back for lunch, and if this is the case, it's a sure bet. Highly recommended!
08/02/2026: Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom, there was a refuge with a promising name: Su'n Paradis.
And like every respectable fairytale, this one begins with a storm: it snowed so hard that not even the spirits of the slopes dared leave their homes. There wasn't a soul in sight, only us, hungry, cold, and still stubbornly hopeful.
In front of the refuge, the snow reigned supreme. Not exactly pristine, to be honest: here and there, you could see confused footprints, signs of passage, mysterious footsteps of unidentified creatures.
My friend, with a pure heart and the playful spirit of a child, decided to celebrate it with an ancient and sacred gesture: the Angel in the Snow.
But then, as in the darkest fairy tales, the Guardian of the Fresh Snow appeared from the depths of the refuge. With the emotional energy of a Miss Rottenmeier, his brusque and judgmental tone, capable of freezing the blood more than a blizzard, made us understand that we were committing an unforgivable crime: touching snow that, in his opinion, existed only to be preserved, not to welcome angels.
Too bad that snow, pure and virgin only in his imagination, had already been trampled. So rude that I didn't even have the courage to point out the obvious: the angel hadn't desecrated anything at all.
Immediately afterward, as if to rebalance the karma of the universe, the real Angel arrives. A boy with a beautiful, sweet smile, charged with raising a ribbon to delimit the sacred boundary of the snow. With disarming kindness, he tells us that, if it were up to him, we could have rolled around in peace.
We thank him, deeply moved🥹.
The fairytale still had hope!
We finally entered the refuge.
My friend, already battered by a series of misfortunes worthy of a Disney princess, ordered meatballs with mashed potatoes. We were starving, ready to eat the table, chairs, and maybe a bench.
After a few bites, she looked at me seriously and asked me to try: those weren't meatballs.
They were a conceptual experiment. An artistic collage of meat scraps, with finely chopped sinew, but not enough to go unnoticed. Every bite was a surprise, every chew a test of character. Now, I'm not a big fan of Venetian-style sinew, but if I want Venetian-style sinew, I order them knowingly; I don't find them hidden like a gastronomic Easter egg.
The mashed potatoes? Good... but with that delicate, unmistakable aftertaste of instant noodles. For a refuge, that's fine, of course, but the price told a different story.
And as if that weren't enough, we turn around and, outside the refuge, who do we find?
Him, of course.
The Keeper of Fresh Snow, now busy shoveling snow all around the refuge, including the spots that, shortly before, he said, couldn't even be breathed in, lest they ruin its sacredness.
The magic ends.
We've been coming here for years and have always had a great time. This time, however, it felt like the wicked witch's refuge.
The only saving grace are the staff members: two or three very kind girls and the boy with the kind smile.
Moral of the story?
In the mountains you can find snow, cold, hunger...
but the real avalanche, sometimes, is rudeness. ❄️

27/09/2025: We stayed here as part of our hike on the Dolomites High Route 1. Unfortunately, the hut didn't really impress us, and that has nothing to do with its age.
The dining room is very, very noisy. After a strenuous day of hiking, it's unfortunately not particularly comfortable to sit in. Perhaps some curtains, rugs, or panels on the ceiling would help?! Furthermore, the food ordering system is questionable. Only one person in the hut could take care of it. With a full hut, it took a correspondingly long time and dampened the spirits of the hungry guests. Furthermore, a lot of waste was produced during the meal, as absolutely everything (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, ketchup, mayonnaise, etc.) was served in small portions. We know how difficult it is to bring things like food to a hut in the middle of the mountains, but here I would like to appeal to the environmental aspect, because a good solution can definitely be found for these things, also in the interest of the environment.
The rooms were small and damp. Since we were there during a heavy rain, a lot of water leaked in through the window frame. The staff didn't seem to be new to the issue. It also felt like there were too many people at the hut for the restrooms, as there were constant lines outside.
The sunrise the next day was somewhat reassuring, as it, along with the view, was magnificent.

03/03/2026: An excellent place for a drink or to sample some truly delicious cuts of meat. I had the opportunity to enjoy a perfectly crafted Spritz and dine on truly memorable venison pappardelle and beef tartare. The staff is not only welcoming and efficient, but also very knowledgeable. This is definitely a restaurant worth returning to when in the area.

07/01/2026: A short ski tour rekindles the desire to ski! The splendid slopes of Monte Civetta and the chairlifts are right in front of you. There's a ski school, including one for children. The complex is beautiful, with a huge parking lot (watch out for the ice). You can eat and drink at tourist prices, but not VIP prices. P.S. Thank God.

I've been frequenting this place for decades and have accumulated a wealth of experience over the years, without ever writing a review, but today the straw broke the camel's back.
In short, I think the prices are high, too high, and not commensurate with the quality provided.
Today I ordered a Kalimero (an alternative throughout the Alps to its more famous cousin, the "bombardino")... two very similar drinks, which I've tried everywhere and whose prices fluctuate quite a bit from place to place, from €4.50 to €6.50... Here, of course, the price was already on the high side, at €5.90, but the scandalous thing is that they also made me pay separately (€1.80 each) for the coffee to put in the Kalimero... I find it truly absurd, it's never happened to me before!!
Now, for those who don't know, the most widespread and traditional recipe (there are several variations) for Bombardino calls for: heated VOV and brandy (or rum), plus cream. The Kalimero differs from the Bombardino in that it only contains heated VOV (without brandy or rum), coffee, and cream. It's therefore clear that the Kalimero, compared to the Bombardino, removes a more expensive ingredient (brandy/rum) and "replaces" it with coffee, which is undoubtedly less expensive. I therefore don't see how anyone could dare charge more for a Kalimero than a Bombardino, and in fact, most of the time I find it either cheaper or the same price. For example, at the Fertazza Refuge, a few hundred meters higher than the Palafavera Refuge and accessible only by ski lift, unlike the Palafavera Refuge, which is easily reached by car and therefore more legitimately priced, both the kalimero and the bombardino are the same price, €5 (very reasonable, I'd say).
The problem is the now widespread bad habit of not using the original recipe and instead using "bombardino mixes," which are nothing more than a mixture of VOV and brandy, likely of very poor quality. This means no one knows what they're making anymore. And when you ask for a kalimero, which is certainly less common than the bombardino, the bar staff will give you a wide-eyed look and a question mark on their foreheads. So much so that they tend, here as elsewhere, to use the bombardino mix anyway and add coffee (so much so that I had to ask them not to use that and instead use VOV). And the first thing that suffers is the quality.
Soon, if this continues, they'll even sell us pre-made Spritzes, and if anyone ever dares ask for Campari or Select, it'll be added to the ready-made mix, charging extra for it.
If you can, avoid it.

14/01/2026: Clean, conveniently located for the slopes, good food. Quiet rooms with comfortable mattresses. I recommend including something gluten-free for breakfast (bread, toast) and a meat-free dish in the evening menu.
04/01/2026: Very nice hotel, easy to get to and very welcoming, suitable for families and couples, clean and comfortable rooms, many services nearby, super helpful and attentive staff.

01/08/2025: Appena siamo arrivati, il personale, super simpatico e gentile, ci ha fatto sedere e abbiamo ordinato. Il ristorante offre posti sia all' interno che all' esterno. Unico problema è che all' esterno è molto ventoso e non ci sono finestre o protezioni. Abbiamo ordinato e i piatti sono arrivati dopo poco. Ho preso un tagliere di salumi e formaggi, e devo dire che sono molto buoni, soprattutto con la salsa di pere. Il rapporto qualità/prezzo è giusto, e ci hanno offerto l'elisir dell' amore, davvero molto gentili.
Il proprietario, Bepi, è un duro. +10.000 aura
20/07/2025: Passato oggi, il paesaggio è fantastico, peccato che sia un rifugio molto commerciale, musica a palla e tanta confusione, meglio se proseguite poco più avanti per trovare un vero rifugio di montagna con vista mozzafiato, pace e relax
