29/12/2025: We had a wonderful time at this Osteria. The service is excellent, with various thoughtful touches that are always appreciated: complimentary bruschetta, a smile, and attentive service. The food is generally good, although it's a shame the grilled vegetables were frozen. Prices are quite low, even very low when you look at the wine list. There's a large parking lot next to the restaurant.

18/01/2026: I was there last night and I have several things to say... I have to admit, the food was excellent, especially the very delicate suckling pig. I enjoyed the welcome entree with prosecco and a main dish. The location was simple, nothing special. The service was efficient and fairly quick. Unfortunately, I have to mention a few negatives, but they're subjective. The first is that we went for fish, and they only serve it on Wednesdays and Fridays... (Oh well). The second negative is the lack of prices on the appetizer menu... (In fact, a steal on three bombettes for almost 20 euros!!!!) The third negative is that they don't even take a 3 euro discount off your bill... we paid 98 euros, and look, other places do the same, but oh well... The fourth negative, and in fact, I think it's the worst... at the end of the evening, the very rude cook started smoking cigarettes inside the restaurant. A shocking lack of manners, and her loud laughter turned the evening from quiet to chaotic. That said, it's a shame because it was all good until the bill arrived, which I thought was high for some dishes, and especially until that woman came out of the kitchen. A passable rating, nothing more...
05/01/2026: The modern restaurant that replaces, with all the trimmings, her grandparents' house: passion and love, flavors of the past that dialogue with the present and open to the world, joy and kindness, the slow life of the South that embraces you as soon as you sit at the table. The region as a priceless treasure and a starting point for Raffaella and her courageous team, always ready to explore new culinary paths. Foggia needed a place like this, and this is the address worth saving.

30/11/2025: Our first time at the embassy for lunch. They were friendly, right from the phone reservation. We ordered the tasting menu for €40 per person, excluding drinks and service charge. There were so many courses, each one better than the last. The food was high-quality, but cooked simply and authentically. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

07/11/2025: Yes, it's out of the way, but if you want to have an extraordinary culinary experience, it's worth the trip. There is no menu, which makes the multi-course lunch a delightful surprise from the seafood to the eggplant parmesan to the orecchiette to the braciola. The best part of the afternoon was meeting with the personable chef, Peppe Zullo, who was gracious enough to show us his impressive wine cellar. We spent the night in one of his comfortable modest bed and breakfast suites beyond the wine cellar. It was quite a memorable time.

The experience was truly positive; we enjoyed excellent first and second courses. The staff was courteous, helpful, and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We definitely recommend it again.
17/10/2025: Serves lunch, but not dinner. Google needs to correct its hours info. Lovely place, not much English but they appreciate any effort to communicate in Italian. Delicious food, and we were able to find vegetarian options which is not available everywhere.

Simple, flavorful, and substantial cuisine, with some ingredients clearly artisanal (I challenge you to find industrially produced asparagus, thickly sliced ​​eggplant, or red garlic in oil), others plucked directly from the supermarket shelf (mushrooms, and something else). Mr. Saverio will tell us that everything is family-made, and we pretend to believe him; the fact remains that the primosale caciotta and the aged cheeses didn't have the air or flavor of Galbani or Auricchio. The ragù with pork rinds is prepared only by those who want to offer truly local recipes, as is the prosciutto, cut into chunks rather than slices. So I understand many people's doubts (the dining room kitchen is admittedly not the most hygienic, and the chef doesn't seem to be up to HACCP standards, and even the bathroom is for those who know how to adapt), but I believe that if you enter an osteria in the right mood, you won't leave disappointed; it's a leap back in time, and in the 1960s, osterias were like that. To those who feel cheated by the innkeeper and the chef, I offer De André's words: "If you think and judge like a good bourgeois, you'll condemn them to five thousand years plus expenses. But if you understand, if you search for them thoroughly, if they aren't lilies, they're still children, victims of this world."

Here, tradition isn't an aesthetic, it's a conscious practice. Let's start with the appetizer. Mixed bruschetta prepared to order with creams of wild herbs—not store-bought herbs, herbs picked on the trail. Caciocavallo, dried tomatoes, pistachios. Nothing extravagant, everything perfectly proportioned. The cheeses of the San Lorenzo Valley are where the vision becomes clear: goat's ricotta and four primosales, each with its own identity (orange, lemon, walnut, arugula). These aren't gimmick variations; they're the result of genuine research. The first course, "t'agg invitet a maccarun e carne," is made with re-milled buckwheat semolina. Simple? Yes. But behind that choice lies the understanding that buckwheat has a lower gluten content, better digestibility, and a more delicate flavor profile. It's cuisine that thinks. The second course is where everything converges: 'u soffritt, the dish that defines Bovino cuisine. Black Salecchia pig, raised on acorns, not industrial feed. The difference is evident in every bite—meat that tastes of something, that smells, that tells a story. Low in fat, low in cholesterol, but full of flavor. The aged cheeses paired with apple and pear demonstrate an understanding of gastronomy that goes beyond the recipe book: the vitamins in the fruit neutralize the salts of aging. It's science applied to pleasure. The farm's olive oil, the family's local wine, the absence of artifice—everything contributes to an experience that is not touristy, it is authentic.

13/12/2025: Lived in Manfredonia for 5 years and hands down, this is my favorite gelato shop. Artiginale and high quality ingredients. Cherry is my favorite. Panettone here is also my favorite. Taking 2 pistachio panettones back to the states with me for Christmas. A must try for both!
