28/03/2026: Entering 2 Lanterne is like entering a timeless place, filled with serenity, delicacies, and a welcoming atmosphere. We decided to celebrate our wedding on September 27, 2025, and we were delighted with our choice. The elegance of simplicity, the elegance of the composition of the dishes, the elegance of the combinations of flavors, the elegance of the kindness of Maura and Damiano, but also of their staff. All the guests, especially the newlyweds, appreciated the quality of the dishes: the selection of excellent and authentic products, then combined and cooked by Damiano's mastery. Maura is a constant, unobtrusive, and reassuring presence. With her calmness, she knows how to advise, calm, and even resolve last-minute inconveniences like rain. We were able to make the room "ours" with decorations according to our wishes (brightly colored flowers on carefully laid tables to enhance the colorful tablescape), and the cake cutting took place in the restaurant dining room, with the warmth of the fireplace creating a truly evocative atmosphere. 03/04/2026: Why do I have to pay for everything first if I'm alone at the counter having a cappuccino and two biscuits and then a coffee afterwards?? It's never happened to me... Usually they serve you and then you pay... It's a shame because the place is nice and the coffee is good, but I don't think this is wonderful. 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, apart from that, there's a wide selection of food😊

02/04/2026: We were here for dinner and didn't stay overnight. The food is excellent, and the staff is very friendly. The vaulted cellar is extremely atmospheric and cozy, while the modern Osteria area is rather generic, austerely chic, and somewhat unappealing. We ate in each area on separate evenings. So, full marks for the food and service, but very different ratings for the two zones within the Osteria.

16/12/2025: Years ago in Cassano, people would go to San Giuseppe, where there was a bar, play bocce, and dance outside in the summer. Today, there's this wonderful Grotto del Sorriso, which, in addition to its important social impact, is a truly valuable restaurant. You can eat well at reasonable prices, and the service is exceptional. You can also buy the cooperative's products, and the proceeds help the young people who, despite their varying challenges, work together to deliver excellent results. Considering Cassano's limited restaurant options, the Grotto is a place that combines ethics, variety, flavor, pleasure, and indulgence!

The German-style pizza gets top marks for the quality of the dough and ingredients. The chocolate cake with cream and caramel is the perfect end to the meal. Excellent value, highly recommended!

09/03/2026: I'll start by saying that I've tried the gelato several times and the quality is very good. Despite the quality of the ingredients, I think the price increase is unjustified. A small cup in other artisanal gelato shops in the city costs €3; here, it's gone from €3.50 to €3.70. Is €3.70 worth the gelato? In my opinion, no, especially considering the line you have to wait in, the random hours you have to respect (it's open today but not tomorrow), and last but not least, the owner is a serious guy who probably doesn't even like interacting with people.

14/02/2026: A lovely little place just a 5-minute drive from the center of Varese, ideal for a nice aperitivo in my opinion! I ordered a Campari Spritz and my boyfriend a glass of red. They bring chips and peanuts, but otherwise they have a wide selection of menu items, including platters of cold cuts and cheeses, battered vegetables, and even first and second courses. 🙂 We ordered their potato chips and a platter of raw ham (excellent quality) accompanied by fried gnocco. The atmosphere is cozy, slightly dimly lit, the waiters are friendly, and the service is fairly quick.
