31/07/2026: The ambiance is truly sensational and the absolute highlight! The food is okay, but simply nothing special. The service was a mixed bag: the staff tried hard and were friendly, but were clearly understaffed, which was noticeable in the wait times. The fantastic atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit, but there's room for improvement in both the food and the service.

31/07/2026: The food was quite good. The mushrooms were too salty for my taste. The filled dumplings were delicious. The service could be improved. They were friendly, but the way they brought things to the table was lacking. The staff were closely watched by the owner. Overall, a very nice place.

29/06/2026: We visited the restaurant in June 2025 and were very impressed. We returned on June 27th and were very disappointed. The service staff seemed very stressed. I ordered lemon sorbet for dessert, but unfortunately, it contained plastic. We tried several times to get the staff's attention, but without success. The same thing happened when we paid; we were ignored. This was the last time we will ever visit this restaurant.

13/06/2026: If you want to be treated really rudely while buying ice cream, this is the place for you. We wanted to bridge the waiting time for the bus with some ice cream. So we stood in front of the ice cream counter, and the two servers were clearly very busy and initially ignored us. After about a minute, my wife dared to speak up, asking them to prepare two ice creams for us, as we had to catch the bus. The quick-witted server replied, "Yes, yes, everyone has to catch the bus today." She mumbled a few more pleasantries under her breath, which thankfully we didn't understand. Trying to regain her composure, she then served us, and my wife received an extra-small scoop of ice cream as a "thank you" for her intervention. It was a quarter smaller than my already meager portion. Yesterday in Merano, for ten cents more (2 euros), I got scoops almost twice the size with much better taste. My conclusion (after a total of three visits to the café in the last two years): there's better ice cream and much friendlier and more cheerful staff in Algund than in Überbacher.

06/06/2026: I've been a frequent customer, and the food has always been excellent. The ice cream and cakes are delicious. Unfortunately, the service is consistently unfriendly, harsh, and rude. Since good service is important to me, I don't think I'll be coming back.

24/07/2026: The pistachio ice cream tastes okay. Unfortunately, the wafers stuck into the ice cream don't taste fresh. Just leave them out – that would be better.

04/07/2026: It's located in Algo. But the staff are friendly and they have delicious drinks. We haven't eaten there yet.

17/05/2026: We had lunch at this inn during a day in Vellau and had a great time. The owner welcomed us with great kindness and warmth, making us feel immediately at ease. The view of the valley is simply stunning and makes the experience even more enjoyable. We ordered a trio of dumplings and a Wiener Schnitzel: well-prepared, generous dishes made with quality ingredients. Attentive service, a relaxed atmosphere, and absolutely fair prices for what's on offer. An authentic place to enjoy stopping in. We'll definitely return if we're in Vellau again.
