05/08/2026: A typical South Tyrolean trattoria, in a South Tyrolean atmosphere, with a mixed and well-integrated staff.
I've been coming here for almost thirty years, still under the old management, and I've never had a single complaint. This is a trattoria for those who work near Bolzano Airport, which is in an industrial area. I mention this because I've read absurd reviews from occasional customers who don't fit the above-mentioned category, which specifically includes artisans, farmers who bring their livestock here (because this is the slaughterhouse and livestock auction), and local office workers. The staff, whether South Tyroleans speaking German or Italian, or even foreigners, are always smiling, kind, helpful, and polite, as well as absolutely respectful. I've read reviews that express a squeamish attitude about having you sit with other people: "Well, that's our culture, that is, to relate to other people as equals and not expect royal treatment, with or without COVID or whatever else one might prefer." Furthermore, sitting with other people allows you to chat with someone, especially if you work alone and don't have the problem of a chronically acute cell phone problem day and night. In fact, I recommend it as a healing therapy for anyone who doesn't even know where they are, much less have any idea what they're eating while lobotomizing themselves with videos at ridiculous volumes in the trattoria. I'd like to see where the volume is really high...
In any case, the cuisine is made with love by the Chef and his staff, as well as by the girls who run for miles to please everyone who arrives for lunch in such a short time. If mistakes happen, it's human and understandable, not like a freak show where everyone is eager to pass judgment and attack others. I repeat, this is a family trattoria, and people are treated like they're at home, not with kid gloves and the reverence they pay to kings and princes.
The food: I can't say I've ever had a bad meal in so many years and under other management, because the philosophy is to make people feel good. After working hard for more than half a day, they can relax for a moment and be served by people with a big heart. For those expecting to take photos and videos to post online and then give meaningless reviews, I recommend going a little further and going to Michelin-starred restaurants where you can boast of having eaten a meal worth 20 full meals at this establishment. In fact, as of August 5, 2026, the price of a workers' menu with a first course, second course with two side dishes, half a liter of mineral water, and a coffee or gelato is €16.50, which is unmatched even by many other establishments in the surrounding area... and I challenge anyone to say they weren't full at the end of lunch. Regarding the quality of the food and drinks, the only thing I can say is that the meat is fresh and local, and everything is prepared fresh and not microwaved from frozen plastic trays—just look in the kitchen and you'll see. The drinks are the right size, not 750ml bottles that cost like a liter. Plus, everything you drink here isn't diluted with water like in so many other places.
So, for all those who aren't overly demanding and don't have social issues, and who aren't fussy about having to sit with the plates of those who are already at the table, which, in the end, is to avoid you losing your seat. Yes, because those who want their table all ready before they sit down are likely to be moved ahead of them and sit in front of them. Plus, if no one happens to arrive right away, just call the waitresses and they'll be there in a flash, then chances are you'll enjoy your stay, and the review won't be as dramatic as it was at La Scala in Milan.
